"Sweaty snorting spitting joggers" 😂

Who snorts?? Anyone?

UrAWizHarry · 03/03/2021 19:23

@Peppermintpatty24

Last week as myself and my partner turned a corner, a female jogger ran right into him to the point where they almost could have kissed. I turned to him and said "she should be wearing a mask", what if she had CV19. He said "I agree, I literally felt her breath on my face".
If she did, a single breath of air will not transmit enough of a viral load to put anyone in danger.

C19 does not transmit outside without extended contact. How many times does this need to be said.

MaddieElla · 03/03/2021 19:27

He said "I agree, I literally felt her breath on my face"

Anyone else picturing this but not in the way the poster intended.

Xenia · 03/03/2021 19:30

It's the dogs I hate. I wish every one were driven out of England. They get really close, spit on your legs and the owners say - he will not hurt you. It is not the hurt I hate. It is the trespass to my person, their smell, their spittle on my clothes - horrible things. Let us rid England of dogs before we move on to runners.

sillyparentwithtoomuchtime · 03/03/2021 19:31

I think that Piers Morgan is a silly man with his head firmly shoved up in a place where the sun does not shine. Also, I think that the transmission rate outside is so low not to be a worry. However, I do agree that runners who want to dominate the pavement are a common problem but one way to deal with them at the moment is when you see them running towards you, all you need to do is start coughing without covering your mouth. They quickly change sides of the road and even on some occasions take on moving cars in order to avoid me. Simply job done.

MummyJ12 · 03/03/2021 19:38

Oh my goodness. Is this what’s it’s come to now?!!
I am always so considerate on my daily run. I run on quiet roads mainly but need to run up one busy street to get home. I often run on the cycle path, on a grass verge or cross the street because people are walking in couples or groups and taking up the path. It’s no problem, I don’t mind being the one to move well out of their way and give way to them, but this is taking it way too far. If people out there are so worried about us being out there, exercising and staying fit and healthy then they should be the ones wearing a mask! The question we also need to ask is; why are these people out on the high street and not at home during the lockdown anyway?! Hmm

Lovely13 · 03/03/2021 19:41

Runners round me seem fine. Focussed and move away. Slow moving pairs on narrow path, chatting, are more problematic. They’re so engrossed in convo, they forget to make a bit of space.

I have no idea how anyone talks and runs. I have to preserve all my breath for the run itself. Oh and for "snorting" in the direction of others. Grin

Chocolateandamaretto · 03/03/2021 19:47

I couldn’t run with a mask on. If you want to deal with an asthmatic runner having an attack by the side of the road then you probably get more breathed on. Heaven forbid people improve their aerobic fitness and thus reduce their risk from covid!!

TrixieMixie · 03/03/2021 19:47

it's totally stupid. No need whatever. Just show consideration and give people space. Chances of getting Covid from a passing runner are infinitessimal.

Notenoughchocolateomg · 03/03/2021 19:56

He's such a tool. It's the bigger, unfit ones he said he has a problem with yet he says they're showing off 🙄 i think pretty much all new runners feel self conscious and insecure about running out in public. I know I certainly did! I run 4 times a week and generally people are great and they move out my way and I'll move out theirs too. I run round a local park, it was particularly the other day so I ran round the streets around it instead as I dont want to risk catching covid from someone. I could no way run wearing a mask!

Trulyatraditionalman · 03/03/2021 19:58

@peppermintpatty24 How was it any more the runner's fault than it was you and your husband's?

Trulyatraditionalman · 03/03/2021 19:59

@luciestar Oh god, you're welcome ha ha. I had no idea what I was unleashing. 31% of the population are nuts!

Peppermintpatty24 · 03/03/2021 20:00

I didn't say that it WAS the runner's fault. Just saying that if she had been wearing a mask, it wouldn't have been as bad. Given the speed she was going at, there was no margin for error.

mycatisgivingyouthefinger · 03/03/2021 20:09

Some people have no concept of the minuscule risk of catching COVID let alone the infinitesimal risk of catching it in the bizarre ways they think of. You're not going to catch it from someone running past you.

I saw a man instructing his kid to throw his litter in the bin from a distance in case he caught COVID from going near the bin. A PP related this to the misinformation around AIDS. I completely agree.

hamstersarse · 03/03/2021 20:10

@Pennycrown

He didn't wear a mask whilst he was out for a walk with Simon Cowell
The man is a hypocrite (Antigua at Christmas for example) - his only talent is creating idiotic clickbait

His Covid ranting is unbearable.

Also, not to point out the obvious....but he could do with popping himself off for a run

hamstersarse · 03/03/2021 20:11

Project Fear did it's job alright! People are literally petrified and have lost all ability to assess danger and risk.

islockdownoveryet · 03/03/2021 20:31

@TwinkleToesForever

I never thought I’d say I agree with Piers Morgan but on this I couldn’t agree more! I am utterly sick of ‘run-titled’ people breathing all over me in our local park and getting angry if you dare to cross their path! So many selfish, space grabbing, huffing and puffing idiots.
You ok hun ? 🙄
islockdownoveryet · 03/03/2021 20:33

I can’t believe this thread is still running ( do you like my pun Grin)

Were you two wearing masks? What if your husband was infectious and got her covid?
Inwiththenew · 03/03/2021 20:52

Anybody who thinks this is a good idea really should acquaint themselves with some basic information about the respiratory system. It’s dangerous to wear a mask especially when exercising. You need to breathe in sufficient oxygen to support the extra activity of your heart, to properly oxygenate your blood.
Please wake up to the real damage that mask wearing is doing. Surgeons have extra oxygen pumped into their environment to protect against this oxygen deficit.
We need to breathe! And fully! Most urban places don’t have good air quality as it is. We need more air not less.
I totally support anyone who feels safer wearing a mask, but to insist that others wear one without knowing that they might feel safer not wearing one is selfish and disrespectful.
And why would anyone listen to Piers Morgan on this subject? I thought his field of expertise was moseying on celebrities. He should stick to that.

CarrotIsApple · 03/03/2021 21:03

That's ridiculous

Lweji · 03/03/2021 21:06

Oh, dear. Hmm

Surgical masks don't cause O2 deficit. I've worn masks for hours in a row and I have low blood pressure. I haven't fainted yet. Grin
