To hate brushing my teeth?

Lighthearted but I mean - really hate! I obviously do it (although I'm ashamed to admit perhaps not as early on in the day as I should in lockdown Blush. I mean - we can put people on the moon and equipment on Mars - you'd think there must be a simpler way!!!!

Made me think of other first world problems I really hate - such as getting petrol!!! Think I'm just being very grumpy today.....

Have you seen those little 'toothbrush balls' you get in vending machines at service stations? I've never tried them, but I think you just chew them and it 'brushes' your teeth

Are you absolutely sure you weren't looking in the little section with Winalot and Whiskas?

Is the name because of what your hair looks like after getting into one of the things?

peak2021 · 01/03/2021 17:01

You don't have to like it but I hope you still brush your teeth.

angelofthenorth72 · 01/03/2021 17:12

YANBU - it's not just the brushing, it's the flossing/interdental brushes/single tufted brush malarkey as well. It's such a faff, and turns a 2-minute job into more like a 5-10 minute one

Ijustknowitstimetogo · 01/03/2021 17:21

Hate flossing as well and cleaning my contact lenses. Force myself to do them each day.

My partner has a disability that means he can’t use a standard toothbrush or most disability aid ones, he has one that looks like a gumshield and he just holds it in his mouth called autobrush. Its really good and easy and quick to use.

thistimelastweek · 01/03/2021 17:27

I hate flossing. I hate the little inter-dental tree things and I'm not that keen on brushing my teeth, especially last thing at night. Who thought all that minty freshness at bedtime was a good idea? Someone should invent horlicks or cocoa flavoured toothpaste.
I don't much like washing my hair either.

CroutonsAvatar · 01/03/2021 17:30

Me too.

Making myself or anyone else tea as well. Three course meal? Sure! I’d love to! Cup of tea? Urgh. Fuck off.

Also putting new sheets on the bed. It takes me 5 minutes but I’d still pay someone else to do it if I could.

Mydogisagentleman · 01/03/2021 17:38

Along with wishing dysentery on myself, I can’t stand the minty fresh taste of toothpaste (I do like the minty fresh taste of aero chocolate)
I use corsodyl. It’s an acquired taste

TipseyTorvey · 01/03/2021 18:12

I've kept quiet about my hatred of brushing my teeth for years due to the looks of the disgust I get from the daily towel washers and yet here you all are 😂. I make bargains with myself 'if you brush them for 1 mins you can set the morning alarm for 5 mins later' type thing on the basis that if they're clean before I sleep they don't need much effort in the morning. I may be wrong about this though...

Scoobygang7 · 01/03/2021 18:42

@NeverDrop probably lol

73kittycat73 · 01/03/2021 19:10

How can you take 2mins or less to brush? I hate brushing my teeth too, but to do them properly takes me about 4-5 minutes.

Dollygirl2008 · 01/03/2021 19:28

I hear you all about the electric toothbrushes - and I do have an electric one, but I actually think I find it less boring using a manual one!

Honestly - first world problem eh!!! Glad I'm not alone enough!!!

Does anyone else splatter the bathroom mirror with drooly toothpaste froth too? I'm using my electric brush as directed but it's making more mess than my manual, and the mirror ends up with white speckles all over it 🙄 So I have to factor in cleaning the sodding bathroom to the time spent cleaning the gnashers. Pffft!

I just close my lips over it?

Now, if you were talking about Waterpiks - they're a calamity waiting to happen. My one sounded like a bilge pump, albeit with the ability to send a jet of water so strong that the bastard bounced out of my (closed) lips and bounce around over the sink the moment I directed it at my unsuspecting teeth...

No, but it ends up running down my arm and dripping off my elbow all over the floor.
BiBabbles · 02/03/2021 15:59

YANBU! It feels a bit better to know I'm not alone in this.

I was just talking to my spouse this morning how irritating I found things about habits that go on about 'keeping doing it until it's as automatic as brushing your teeth' because so often my brain still complains about dental care.

And then I get just as irritated with myself that I find it an irritation - it takes only a few minutes, I feel better later for it, no idea why I get so many annoyed thoughts about doing and feeling like I'd rather go straight to bed/downstairs like it's some big hurdle.

This doesn’t seem to happen in our house but my current bugbear is toothpastey smiles left on clean sodding towels! Just rinse your mouth properly ffs and then wipe it, how hard can it be?

And yes, I hate doing my teeth too, such a bloody bore but toothache is horrible so I make sure I do it properly (mostly 😬)

Yes! I get it all over my hand and the sink too. Sad

This never happens in the adverts eh, @SimonJT and @73kittycat73! I think we must be doing something wrong 😆

Tianatiers · 03/03/2021 12:04

I agree, surely they can invent something you can just chew to clean your teeth. I hate flossing the most, brushing is just tedious.

skybluee · 03/03/2021 12:07

I hate shaving, like someone else mentioned. I don't know why I hate it so much really. Have tried just normal razors (Bic, Gillette and so on) which give me hideous ingrown hairs on my legs no matter WHICH WAY I DO IT (and believe me, I've watched more than enough youtube videos on this subject)... and electric razor which I don't like either.

You can get chewable toothbrushes for humans - they are called Fuzzy Brushes.

@NeverDropYourMoonCup see! I KNEW I wasn't going mad! Grin This is what the vending machines look like at service stations
