AIBU or should hot cross buns only be the original flavour?

I can’t be doing with rhubarb & custard, salted caramel, honeycomb etc etc. Just stick to the original!

Cheese and tomato? Please tell me they haven’t got dried fruit in them!

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 27/02/2021 19:23

Hot Cross Buns of any variety are an abomination and ought to be scratched for m existence!

Were you dragged up... outrageous thing to say.

Tlollj · 27/02/2021 19:23

Didn’t know cheese and marmite ones existed. I may have to try those and report back.

RedcurrantPuff · 27/02/2021 19:26

I love the cheese and chilli ones but other than that just normal fruited ones.

yookayhun · 27/02/2021 19:27

I'm allergic to cinnamon, so the other flavours are a delightful treat for me!

partyatthepalace · 27/02/2021 19:27

To my surprise the chocolate waitrose ones are pretty lovely.

CCSS15 · 27/02/2021 19:30

Aldi brioche and the rhubarb and custard ones are divine - I have the honeycomb and cheese / chilli on my next click and collect order - so excited to try them!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/02/2021 19:32

I wish some would hold me down and force feed me hot cross buns...

2beesornot2beesthatisthehoney · 27/02/2021 19:32

YABU
M&S Apple and Sultana are my favourite ever.^This

MrsFezziwig · 27/02/2021 19:34

@peak2021

Wholemeal hot cross buns should be available in my opinion.

You can get them in Waitrose.

Sparklingbrook · 27/02/2021 19:36

Waitrose Toffee Hot Cross Buns are amazing. YABU.

Original ones are usually full of candied peel which is revolting.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 27/02/2021 19:37

The co op TI Apple and cinnamon ones are lovely!!

wishywashywoowoo70 · 27/02/2021 20:23

@Dunairbeanat

Totally agree OP, original only. I once accidentally picked up Welsh cakes with chocolate chips, they were terrible.
WTAF. That's so wrong. Welsh cakes are Welsh cakes you can't be messing with them.
PurBal · 27/02/2021 20:34

YANBU

ouchmyfeet · 27/02/2021 20:48

YANBU at all.

I do like the Apple and cinnamon ones, but I'm not happy with myself! Classic are best.

Mumto3thatsme · 27/02/2021 20:54

Sneaks off to add 4 different varieties to next weeks shopping order

Shoppingwithmother · 27/02/2021 20:55

Booths had chocolate and ginger ones a couple of years ago - they were addictive. I was so disappointed they didn’t have them last year.

Itsamess8456 · 27/02/2021 21:03

We tried the Aldi honeycomb ones today - they are the nicest things I may have ever tasted. The children also thought they were amazing and are begging me to get more tomorrow.

Littlebendytoe · 27/02/2021 21:05

Waitrose chocolate orange though... YABU

Chocolateandamaretto · 27/02/2021 21:09

I like the M&S chilli cheese ones with beans on...not really like a hot cross bun at all tbh but very delicious!
I like the apple ones too but the chocolate/caramel ones don’t do it for me, agree with pp who said you expect them to taste cinnamony so it’s odd when they don’t.

Roominmyhouse · 27/02/2021 21:20

The Sainsbury’s salted caramel ones are lush. So much nicer than a normal one!

Figgygal · 27/02/2021 21:22

Can’t stand the “original” ones

Loving the M&S chilli and cheese ones and Waitrose chocolate orange ones

SpiceRat · 27/02/2021 21:25

You might have a point if the original ones didn’t exist anywhere, but you just simply don’t buy the flavours you don’t like.

tenlittlecygnets · 27/02/2021 21:50

Noooo! Tesco's caramel ones are good, and I love their apple and cinnamon.

I also love their clementine mince pies - much lighter and less soggy than the usual flavour.

MinnieJackson · 27/02/2021 21:56

I like normal, toasted with salted butter and a slice of mild cheddar.
