To think DH should know you don’t wash dirty bed linen at 30 degrees?

I know it’s not the end of the world but honestly, he is 38 and now it’s probably going to have to go on again. He has a sweaty head and pillowcases are unlikely to be clean after this wash. I already have to do our bedding in 2 loads as it’s so big and we don’t have a spare set so it all needs to be dry and back in the bed tonight.

I’m so irritated!

@CecilyP

Whaaat ! I hope you didn't break lockdown rules just to wash your clothes?

It counts as exercise and you can take one fellow washerwoman as long as you wash 2 metres apart!

*How recent? I’ve had three washing machines since leaving home 34 years ago and they have all been cold fill only.^

Not sure. Think I still had this on my last but one machine so within the last 25 years. Got my first machine in1982 but I’m sure it was more recent than that!

nicegirl73 · 24/02/2021 17:18

Omg yes that would annoy me too. I always wash bed linen on 90% to make sure they are cleaned properly. Nothing gets clean in 30% yuck

exaltedwombat · 24/02/2021 17:22

You have a washing machine that won't take one set of sheets?

louise5754 · 24/02/2021 17:23

For some reason I thought everything should be washed at 30.

Sarahrellyboo1987 · 24/02/2021 17:23

It’s not 1950! Washing powders are amazing now and do a great wash on 30degrees and lower.

Takeitonthechin · 24/02/2021 17:23

Not if he's never been shown or told

DanceItOut · 24/02/2021 17:23

I’m surprised your DH knows how to use a washing machine. Mine didn’t and now he lives with his mother who does it for him 😂

Theoldwrinkley · 24/02/2021 17:24

I read the original post and immediately felt inadequate. As ‘makeminealarge’ said.....although frankly I don’t even separate colours as we have so little white or cream.
I think you are being unjust towards your hubby.
As a small point, why on earth throw bedding just because it doesn’t go with decor? Surely you can live with it until you get another set?

Margerine78 · 24/02/2021 17:28

Umm....I wash mine at 30...aren't washing machine and tablets now designed to be able to clean things thoroughly at lower temp as it's better for the environment?

CillianMurphyfanclub · 24/02/2021 17:30

You could add an antibacterial laundry cleanser and that works even at 30 degrees. Lidl have an own brand one which is much cheaper than the Dettol version.

Alicatz66 · 24/02/2021 17:31

My DH is a bit shit at doing laundry .. he never listens .. I'd let him off this once ... he brings me tea in bed every day so I put the wash on ! ...!

TonightMatthew · 24/02/2021 17:31

Sorry not sure if you're still reading OP but I have a superking and have one posh set from Joules which was a treat to myself (£120 in the sale) and one set from George at Asda (£22) Honestly, I kind of like them equally for actually sleeping in!

Just in case you do decide to get a cheap backup.

C0mm0nsense · 24/02/2021 17:33

I’d personally put on a hotter wash but to avoid this happening again and the rush of getting them dry, can’t you buy an inexpensive spare bedding set to avoid a situation like this in the future?

Jeeperscreepers69 · 24/02/2021 17:39

1 set of bedding..... Why????? @BasinHaircut I have 12 or more. And I'm not bragging it's just normal. And I do 30 washes all the time.

Gilld69 · 24/02/2021 17:39

i only use a 30 at a push i use a 40 , been washing bedding over 40 years never had a prob, once a fortnight in the winter weekly in the summer i have tons of bedding , im a bit of an addict to new bedding , but 30 is plenty hot enough unless your a minger, not you personally Smile

Justa47 · 24/02/2021 17:44

@BasinHaircut

You can wash at 30 depends totally on the detergent and the material of the sheets .

Brondie319 · 24/02/2021 17:45

This is hilarious 🤣

janj2301 · 24/02/2021 17:48

I wash everything at 30

Lucyk1 · 24/02/2021 17:48

We wash everything at 30..what's the problem. We change our bedding once a week, how dirty can your bedding be!!

Id find it more annoying that you only had one set of bedding. What if you are sick?

NatFac · 24/02/2021 17:48

I am more concerned about the fact you only have one set of bedding and also that it doesn't all fit inside your washing machine!

AyUpMiDuck · 24/02/2021 17:49

I wash our bedding at 60 degrees most especially if it is from teenage boys' beds because they do not shower frequently Grin

Ihatefish · 24/02/2021 17:49

Everything here gets washed at 30 here -no one is dead

NatFac · 24/02/2021 17:50

Also, how much sweating can your husband be doing if you don't think the bedding will be clean after being washed in a washing machine with detergent and water at 30oC? Hmm

Deidre21 · 24/02/2021 17:51

Please do invest in a second set of pillow cases and sheets. It would things so much easier.
