To think DH should know you don’t wash dirty bed linen at 30 degrees?

I know it’s not the end of the world but honestly, he is 38 and now it’s probably going to have to go on again. He has a sweaty head and pillowcases are unlikely to be clean after this wash. I already have to do our bedding in 2 loads as it’s so big and we don’t have a spare set so it all needs to be dry and back in the bed tonight.

I’m so irritated!

I wash everything at 30. It never occurred to me not to. My sheets are perfectly clean.

MakeMineALarge1 · 23/02/2021 08:45

Im still surpised you only have 1 set of bedding.

Angel2702 · 23/02/2021 08:45

@gamerchick

I always imagine these was at 30 for everything types, also washing their hands in cold water. After all soap is soap.
But 30 isn’t cold at all so nothing like washing hands in cold water.
FlyingPandas · 23/02/2021 08:46

Never mind the wash temperature, OP, just buy yourselves another set of linen for goodness sake. Bonkers to just have one!

But yes honestly 30 degrees is fine and you do not need to re wash.

saraclara · 23/02/2021 08:46

Why does this woman I know of not realise that only having one set of bedding is ridiculously inefficient and inconvenient?

I'm so irritated!

tootsytoo · 23/02/2021 08:46

I Wash mine at 75 degrees minimum 69 - sheets are supposed to be washed at 60 to kill germs.

I wash at 75 degrees because I sweat A LOT at night due to medical reasons.

HeronLanyon · 23/02/2021 08:47

Oh bluntness you’ve introduced the topic of all topics there - and so casually too !

changi · 23/02/2021 08:47

I think it's more unreasonable to only have one set of bedding.

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 23/02/2021 08:48

I always imagine these was at 30 for everything types, also washing their hands in cold water. After all soap is soap.

I don't wash my hands for two hours, including rinse and spin cycles. They really don't compare.

PogoTheClown · 23/02/2021 08:48

I wash everything at 30.

isthismylifenow · 23/02/2021 08:49

Sweat doesn't stick to a pillowcase OP. I would still be washed off on a cold wash.

TheresHope · 23/02/2021 08:49

Uh, really?

I wash everything on cold.

I am now reevaluating my entire existence.

vodkaredbullgirl · 23/02/2021 08:50

Buy more bedding, I have 3 sets f bedding. Most things I wash at 30-40, only things I do wash at a higher degree is my work stuff.

SquitMcJit · 23/02/2021 08:50

NHS recommend higher than 30 degrees for underwear, bedding and towels: www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/how-to-prevent-germs-from-spreading/

“...wash all underwear, towels and household linen at 60C, or at 40C with a bleach-based laundry product to prevent germs from spreading”

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 23/02/2021 08:51

I thought bedding and towels had to be washed at at least 60🤔
Agree you should have more than one set though.

PopUpName · 23/02/2021 08:52

Soap is indeed soap. Washing your hands in warm water is no more effective than cold.

freckles20 · 23/02/2021 08:52

If he washed it at 30, then presumably he thought that was the right way to do it- otherwise he'd have chosen a different temperature.

Crockof · 23/02/2021 08:53

I'm slovenly but I still was bedding on a 60.

HeronLanyon · 23/02/2021 08:53

I have three sets per bed (ish) and rotate so nothing is left unused for months on end. Introduced that rule after a lone bedbug was spotted many years ago leading me to frenzied chucking/washing/freezing/spraying period. Awful and never did see a single other one. Actually think it came in in coat. Other rule no coats anywhere other than front hallway and absolutely never in bedrooms. Outer layer clothes which may have sat on tube/bus never in bedrooms. Speculative hoover of all beds and spray every 6 months or so.
Know there are some oddities there but makes me feel better.

WalkingMeAway · 23/02/2021 08:53

I always wash my bedding at 60. But if it went on at 30 I really wouldn’t be washing it again!

You definitely need a spare set

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 23/02/2021 08:54

Whilst I agree that more than one set of linen seems reasonable, it might be worth remembering that to some people, it’s just unaffordable.

MakeMineALarge1 · 23/02/2021 08:54

I feel very inadequate.
I wash everything at 30
I seperate on colour only.
I don't do different items in different temperature.
I rarely iron.
I

marriednotdead · 23/02/2021 08:54

I wash everything at 30 degrees.
Super sweaty sports clothes and DS’s bedding get washed in Halo with a slug of fresh linen scented Zoflora but still 30 degrees.

You may need to rethink your laundry habits and get a second set of bedding for your own sanity.

PattyPan · 23/02/2021 08:55

Yabu, I wash everything at 30 and everything comes out clean!

Pyewackect · 23/02/2021 08:55

Don't sweat the small stuff.
