An interesting analysis of a Trump supporter focus group by Frank Luntz.

David Packman's opinion: the US is in DEEP trouble.

Although, their comments about "why vote" raise some hope. Wink Don't.

Watch for when one compares the "stolen election" to Hitler, which is challenged by one, but then this one is dismissed. Shock

But, from 11:30, the Republican who left the Republican party. 1 in 12.

Trump backer Rebekah Mercer orchestrates Parler’s second act - Mercer, whose family invested in Breitbart and Cambridge Analytica, holds majority stake and controls 2 of 3 Parler board seats

www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2021/02/24/parler-relaunch-rebekah-mercer

After Parler was knocked offline related to role in Capitol riot, it's back online with new CEO, former tea party patriots leader Mark Meckler. Matthew Richardson, former party secretary of right-wing UK Independence Party (UKIP), joined the exec committee

There has not been nearly enough reporting on the network of politicians, companies, funders that led to and link together Trump and Brexit - the Mercers, Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage, Arron Banks, Matthew Elliott, and others

GOP tensions on full display

Q: Should Trump be speaking at CPAC?
Rep. Kevin McCarthy: "Yes. He should."
Rep Liz Cheney: "That's up to CPAC. I have been clear about my view of Pres Trump ...
I don't believe he should be playing a role in the future of the party or the country."

Roussette · 24/02/2021 19:05

Lweji I found that horrifically fascinating Shock

Anniegetyourgun · 24/02/2021 20:01

Anyone tempted to believe that anti-fascists rather than actual fascists were behind the Capitol storming need only stop to consider that there was no political benefit to the former in stirring things up at that point. What the leftists allegedly wanted was their own pet "socialist" in the White House, and that's what they were getting. They just had to let it play out. They didn't need to discredit Trumpists, who were about to be officially called several million votes short; there was no advantage to set against the danger of being found out. But I suppose it just goes to show those socialists are stupid, hey?

(CNN)Donald Trump Jr. was deposed as part of the Washington, DC, attorney general's lawsuit alleging the misuse of Trump inaugural funds, according to a new court filing.

In a court document dated Tuesday, DC Attorney General Karl Racine's office revealed the former President's son was deposed on February 11.

New York (CNN)The Manhattan district attorney's office has subpoenaed financial records related to Steve Bannon's crowd-funding border-wall effort, signaling that its criminal investigation into former President Donald Trump's chief strategist is advancing, according to people familiar with the matter.

'Ted Cruz is currently in hot water for his decision to abandon Texas for Cancún in the middle of a state of emergency, for claiming the trip was his daughters’ idea, for getting caught in a web of lies over the origins of said trip, and for blaming the whole thing on both the media and the “assholes” who leaked his wife’s text messages which ultimately blew up Cruz’s spot. That’s kept him pretty busy for the time being, but it appears he may soon have to juggle multiple scandals, according to a new investigation concerning a shadow entity that the FEC may have cause to look into.'

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 24/02/2021 21:29

You beat me too it @lionheart

TheNorthWestPawsage · 24/02/2021 22:28

From the Vanity Fair report:
... in 2020, a leadership PAC attached to Cruz called Jobs, Freedom, and Security paid $1.2 million, or almost 80% of its entire operating budget, to a company called Reagan Investments LLC for “sponsorship advertising.” Per Sollenberger, “the only other committee to register any disbursements to that company was Trump Make America Great Again, for a fundraising promotion for Cruz’s books in December…However, the Trump group clearly marked the payment for ‘collateral: books.’” In other words, it’s possible Cruz may have bought his own books through this mystery company and then paid himself royalties, which would be illegal.

Well Ted, I think that's what we'd call 'stealing'.

Just when you think you can’t be sickened any more....they’ve finally arrested this guy from the Jan 6th riots. He beat a cop with a metal flag pole and gouged out his eye. He is, would you believe, a former marine and retired NYPD.

www.nydailynews.com/new-york/ny-retired-nypd-cop-capitol-20210223-zfmmkaowmbh4pm76iot7rbzl24-story.html

PerkingFaintly · 24/02/2021 23:03

Oh god almighty.

I haven't been able to bring myself to read the details, but this must be the attack we saw on film, where the attackers dragged a cop down the steps in front of the Capitol and we saw the guy with the metal flag pole get to work as the cop disappeared below the crowd.

Please, if you've read it, did the police officer survive?

PerkingFaintly · 24/02/2021 23:04

He's been in my mind since I watched that.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 24/02/2021 23:44

Perking I believe the officer who died was hit with a fire extinguisher. I don't think it's the same one. However, a lot of suffering can be concealed by "injuries", which I think affect 140 officers.

DuncinToffee · 24/02/2021 23:47

I can't read Everyone's link (not available in Europe it says) but I did read lionheart link from yesterday and that didn't mention what has happened to the officer.
www.rawstory.com/eye-gouger-thomas-webster/

PerkingFaintly · 24/02/2021 23:55

Yes, I've just checked and the number of direct fatalities seems still to be set at 5 (plus 2 police officers who killed themselves in the few days afterwards).

The officer known to have died directly from the attack was Brian Sicknick.

I hadn't been following closely enough these last few days to know if another officer had died. TBH I've been having a partial break from the news.

So the officer on the steps is alive but horribly wounded. My heart goes out to all those wounded, and to their families.

Close ally of Marjorie Taylor Greene among those in Capitol mob

us.cnn.com/2021/02/24/politics/kfile-marjorie-taylor-greene-close-ally-in-capitol-mob/index.html

In tweets after the Capitol insurrection, Greene falsely suggested that those who had broken into the Capitol were not Republicans and instead falsely implied so-called "Antifa" dressed as Trump supporters were to blame.

In fact, Anthony Aguero, a conservative livestreamer, activist and associate of Greene, said on video following the January 6 assault on the Capitol that he had been among those who entered and attacked those who falsely claimed it was done by "Antifa"

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 25/02/2021 01:05

weird because I’m definitely in Europe!
I believe he did survive but with severe injuries (including, I think, The loss of his eye).

Roussette · 25/02/2021 07:21

What that man did to that Police offier is the stuff of horror films, so much hate.

Looks like MTaylor Greene is in a pile of shit, couldn't happen to a nicer person

Btw has anyone been watching “Trump takes on the world” on BBC2?

Roussette · 25/02/2021 13:40

Isn't it strange... I look at stuff about Trump all the time on here and other places on the internet. Or at least I used to. I was just not sure I could stomach three whole hours of his nonsense. Was it worth watching?
