Wouldn't a more accurate title have been "Trump attacks the world"?

lionheart · 25/02/2021 13:42

I can't tolerate watching him.

'Trump's properties used to target "wealthy, city-dwelling customers and big-time convention planners," the Post writes. But those audiences won't touch his businesses anymore thanks to his incredibly divisive time in office, and his new enthusiastic fan base isn't making up the difference. I liked this bit:

Investors are now circling the former president, looking to buy his properties as well as his loans to cash in on if he ends up defaulting. Four of those investors tell the Post they're hoping to get a good deal on the buildings due to Trump's tarnished brand. Once purchased, "the first thing you do is you take the Trump name off them — which, by the way, could be a multiple-week effort, because it's on everything," one potential buyer told the Post. Only then will the building become a "competitive asset."

("multiple week effort" wtf ??????)

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 25/02/2021 14:21

I was just not sure I could stomach three whole hours of his nonsense. Was it worth watching?

I wouldn’t watch it all in one go, but it felt like a sort of debrief about the global politics of Trump. Sort of interesting to dispassionately look back at what happened on the global stage over the last 4 years. You do remember/realise just how much by luck rather than judgement he didn’t drag us all into another world war or nuclear stand off.
It’s also v interesting to hear world leaders and diplomats commenting plus former Trump staff such as John Bolton.

I must have a look at it. Especially if his former staff are dishing the dirt!

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has obtained former President Donald Trump’s tax returns and related records, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The records include millions of pages of documents, the sources say.

Where's Deep Throat when you need him to leak those docs?

Not really though. I expect if any of the docs were released it would jeopardize the whole case.

("multiple week effort" wtf ??????)

@DGRossetti

My son visited one of the Trump properties for his employer pre-election and he remarked then that 'His fucking name is engraved in gold everywhere, what an ego!'. I guess the amount of stone, concrete, marble, wood, steel etc that would have to be matched and replaced would be monumental. And IIRC this was before he started putting his fake Coat of Arms on everything. IIRC he said that 'Trump' was even emblazoned on the paper towels and toilet roll in the executive toilets. I'm pretty sure the toilet roll was an exaggeration, but who knows?

DuncinToffee · 25/02/2021 16:30

He has a fake coat of arms? I shouldn't be surprised but really...

I think I remember John Oliver mentioning trump merchandise/toys in one of his shows which was already weird enough.

DGRossetti · 25/02/2021 16:49

I wasn't questioning the fact it might take a while to remove Trumps name from everything, more the fucking appalling perversion of English that begat "multi-week effort." Being snippy, there's no point in removing Trumps name if you're going to continue mangling English like he did.

Regarding a million documents ... isn't this what we have Googly-type "AI" for ? (Hint: no.).

Lweji · 25/02/2021 17:03

It must have been a spectacle, the arrival of the documents.

Anyone has any idea if they were as many as the towers of blank paper they showed a few years ago?

In theory I'd be amazed if they weren't all just digital somewhere.

In practice, if I were Trump (well, more his lawyer with the brains) I'd deliver them as dead tree copies - ideally all stapled and bound together with odd size and weight pages.

He uses a coat of arms belonging to a previous owner of Mar-a-Lago. It isn't his.

Thanks, I googled it and found this from 2017

It may not be the most dramatic scandal facing Donald Trump this week, but the US president has been accused of branding his US commercial properties with a stolen coat of arms.

Mr Trump's heraldic arms is a near-identical copy of one registered in 1939 by Joseph Edward Davies, the New York Times reported . The copy, printed on everything from golf carts to socks, made a single small change: where the original said "Integritas", now it says "Trump".

The GOP’s choice in 2024: Trump Ultra, Trump Lite or Trump Zero.
www.politico.com/news/2021/02/25/gop-2024-trump-471565

At least eight 2024 hopefuls will speak at CPAC, the conservative movement’s premier conference this weekend in Florida, giving Republicans their clearest look yet at who’s competing in the traditional GOP presidential lanes.

But there’s only one lane that really matters: the one currently occupied by former President Donald Trump.

Trump, the keynote speaker at the Conservative Political Action Conference, is the party's undisputed leader at the moment, and for the foreseeable future. And whether he chooses to run again in 2024 or not, his outsized presence is likely to determine the shape of the primary.
“There isn’t a Trump lane. There’s a Trump Turnpike with multiple lanes and multiple people,” said Chris LaCivita, a veteran GOP strategist who most recently headed the anti-Biden super PAC Preserve America.

So the orange blob is coming out of hibernation this weekend to soak up some lovin' at the CPAC gathering in Florida.

So it could be time to dust off the Trump bingo card... eyes down and shots ready for all our fav lies and delusional twaddle.

I'll put 50 cents on Doofus making a definitive statement regarding running in 2024 during his speech at CPAC. Maybe not an exact announcement of his candidacy, but enough to let the wannabes know to get outta the way cuz it's Doofus or else.

Anniegetyourgun · 26/02/2021 06:00

where the original said "Integritas", now it says "Trump"

Oh, how very fitting. Quite a metaphor for the effect he's had on the US political landscape.
