'Facebook has removed a video of former US President Donald Trump from the page of his daughter-in-law Lara Trump.

The social media giant banned Mr Trump from its platform in January following riots by his supporters on the Capitol building in Washington.'

'Rolling Stone magazine was once a shining beacon of rebellion. Devoted to telling the truth about its subjects, the publication has often caused controversy throughout its more than fifty years. But in more recent years, the magazine has seen its share of bad publicity in light of bad decision making, which led to the ultimate bad decision: Rolling Stone was sold to the son of Trump-backing multimillionaire Roger Penske, Jay Penske. Jay is a high-profile GOP donor who fired tenured and experienced journalists, then hired hacks to write tabloid level pieces that leaned so far to the right, he was awarded a Presidential Medal from the former guy himself.'

www.vanityfair.com/news/2021/04/ivanka-trump-gao-report

'When she wasn’t conveniently on vacation with Jared Kushner every time Donald Trump found himself embroiled in scandal, Ivanka Trump spent most of her time in Washington claiming to be working on behalf of women both in the U.S. and around the world. Obviously, the idea that the then first daughter was using her role in the White House to champion women was a uniquely Trumpian load of horseshit, given the many ways her father’s administration actively hurt women both in and outside of the country, a list that includes but is in no way limited to: relentlessly attempting to undermine the Affordable Care Act’s birth control benefit; weakening Title IX and putting students at increased risk of sexual assault and harassment; scrapping an equal-pay initiative (a move blessed by Ivanka herself); blocking the State Department from mentioning reproductive or sexual rights in its annual human rights report; separating families at the border, including ones with infants; replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg with a woman who wouldn’t rule out making abortion a crime punishable by death; and banning foreign aid to groups that discussed abortion. And now a damning report from the Government Accountability Office has revealed that Ivanka’s signature women’s initiative was a flop.'

Worrying
It seems like 2 officers injured (one stabbed?) and the suspect either injured or dead.

DuncinToffee · 02/04/2021 19:42

(CNN) The suspect in Friday's attack on US Capitol Police officers outside the iconic Washington building has died, multiple sources told CNN, and one officer has been stabbed.

A senior congressional aide and a US Capitol Police source tell CNN that after the driver of the vehicle rammed his car into a barricade on Constitution Avenue, the driver exited the vehicle brandishing a knife. USCP responded, shooting the suspect and taking him into custody.

An email from the US Capitol Police, obtained by CNN, confirmed that sequence of events. The email stated Capitol Police officers shot the suspect after he rammed the barricade and exited holding a knife. Both officers were also injured, and one is being transported to the hospital by USCP.

lionheart · 02/04/2021 20:05

DuncinToffee · 02/04/2021 20:08

I just came to post that lionheart Sad

BREAKING: Acting U.S. Capitol Police chief on Capitol incident: "It is with a very, very heavy heart that I announce one of our officers has succumbed to his injuries."

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 02/04/2021 20:08

@lionheart

The police officer has died. Sad
Damn.

Nutcases trying to invade congress are not funny at all. I wonder what he thought he stood to gain, but I don't suppose we will ever know.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/04/2021 21:23

Car ramming and knife attack aren't a 'usual' MO for domestic terror attacks here in the US. Much more common in cases of a MH crisis or 'outside' terrorism. It's going to be interesting to see what this turns out to be.

The Capitol police are having such a rough year. I think this is the 4th death this year. Ofcr Sicknick and the two suicides from the Insurrection and now this. So sad.

AcrossthePond55 · 02/04/2021 23:04

CNN has named the suspect as a 25 year old from VA. From what CNN has reported about this young man it does appear to be a mental health issue/crisis. From what CNN included in their article it's clear he was decompensating.

The officer who died was an 18 yr veteran of the force, William 'Billy' Evans.

Sad all round.
