@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime

Is it good netiquette to copy-and-paste entire newspaper opinion-pieces without giving a link or attribution? (Asking for a friend who is a writer.)
Not really. But the punishment is just being ignored.

However be prepared that even when you post something with cites and links (why did I hear my inner monologue just say 'shits and giggles' ?) be prepared for those same posters to pore over every character for something to criticise.

DuncinToffee · 06/03/2021 14:39

Fresh Trump fan, haha that made me giggle.

DuncinToffee · 06/03/2021 14:40

Even more so after reading DGR's inner monologue

More on the Jan 6 riot

WASHINGTON — A member of the far-right nationalist Proud Boys was in communication with a person associated with the White House in the days just before the Jan. 6 assault on the Capitol, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation.

Location, cellular and call record data revealed a call tying a Proud Boys member to the Trump White House, the official said. The F.B.I. has not determined what they discussed, and the official would not reveal the names of either party.

A leader of the far-right group separately said he had been in touch with Roger Stone, but an official said it was not the same contact investigators found through electronic communications records.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 06/03/2021 15:26

Has any of the stuff publicly produced as evidence that Trump and his cohorts fomented that riot included the mobile phone tracking data someone found and posted here, which showed the phones at the rally and then proceeding to the Capitol and inside it?

Roussette · 06/03/2021 17:12

The organic eating horned bloke is beside himself not wanting to be imprisoned.
He says he was welcomed into the Capitol Building and had gone in there to say prayers and sing a song on the house floor, and had actually stopped someone stealing muffins from the kitchen but still supports Trump.
That's ok then... Grin

He actually looks like a pathetic little man now he's desperate to get out of clink, and doesn't have his horns on and isn't howling to the moon

NEW: Senate passes President Biden’s $1.9 trillion Covid relief bill, 50-49. Will he sent back to the House, passage looks assured. Will be the biggest achievement of his presidency so far.
The consequences of those two Georgia run offs just keep on flowing...

prettybird · 06/03/2021 18:43

Irony of ironies: the reason that Kamala Harroed didn't have to use her casting vote to break the deadlock in the Senate to pass the Covid Relief Bill was that apparently a Republican who intended to vote no missed the vote because his FIL had just died ...... of Covid Hmm

AcrossthePond55 · 06/03/2021 21:48

I'm pretty thrilled myself (about the passage).

I don't know what Manchin was on about. The changes that were made to supposedly 'satisfy him' were miniscule. Personally, I think he just enjoys thinking of himself as a 'power player' by withholding his vote and making both the Dems and the GOP curry his favour as a 'swing vote'. Total ego trip.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 06/03/2021 23:32

I hope his electors find it as distasteful at the rest of us. Wink

Georgia GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's efforts to delay congressional business by forcing futile procedural votes to adjourn the House each day are disrupting committee hearings and virtual constituent meetings - and ticking off a growing chorus of Republican colleagues.

Trump promises to travel to Alaska to campaign against Murkowski
thehill.com/homenews/campaign/541970-trump-promises-to-travel-to-alaska-to-campaign-against-murkowski

"I will not be endorsing, under any circumstances, the failed candidate from the great State of Alaska, Lisa Murkowski. She represents her state badly and her country even worse. I do not know where other people will be next year, but I know where I will be - in Alaska campaigning against a disloyal and very bad Senator," Trump said in a statement to The Hill. "Her vote to advance radical left democrat Deb Haaland for Secretary of the Interior is yet another example of Murkowski not standing up for Alaska."

The threat marks the latest indication that Trump plans to heavily insert himself into 2022 races across the country.

Republicans predict that Trump will cast himself as a kingmaker in the GOP moving forward as he mulls a 2024 bid of his own. While he's seen his approval rating nationally dip since the Jan. 6 riot on Capitol Hill, his endorsement is still coveted by Republican candidates eager to endear themselves with a grassroots that overwhelmingly still backs the former president.

Still lying.

thehill.com/homenews/media/541951-mcenany-trump-doing-just-fine-without-social-media

McEnany, who is now a contributor for Fox News, discussed Trump's social media departure with Fox Business' Stuart Varney.

"He said it was kind of freeing not to have Twitter," she said. "He had a lot of time on his hands. So I think he's doing just fine without social media."

McEnany argued that Trump being removed from social media platforms pointed to "cancel culture," which she condemned as not about stopping misinformation and violence but "about stopping Trump."

"What a travesty, this cancel culture, this root someone out of the public square," she told Varney.

Trump was permanently banned from Twitter, while Facebook is evaluating whether or not the former president will be allowed back onto the platform.

YouTube's CEO also said this week that Trump's account would be reinstated when "the risk of violence has decreased."

Have we talked about the idiots encouraging their children to burn face masks yet?
twitter.com/mrolmos/status/1368260862771826688?s=21

I would have also thought it was pretty toxic to burn them (and hope they were clean), but then no one there is winning any parent of the year award.

So put a US flag on all facemasks sold in the US. Job done.

Said no one about any other president ever.

I wonder when and if the secret Obama weapon will be deployed ? He's like a spare VP who can travel the world and be warmly received and listened to, surely ?
Thymeout · 07/03/2021 11:23

CNN are going in big on the FBI's investigation into January 6th. Amy Klobuchar's C'tee is doing a good job of teasing out information. Gently, gently, approaching ever closer to establishing links between insurrectionists and legislature.

First, the inexplicable delay in calling in the National Guard with two Trump appointees in the firing line, Sec for Defence and Sec for the Army. Then looking at records from confiscated phones. Calls/texts to Congressional members/employees. Tour group spotted in tunnel under offices. Now someone from the White House has popped up on a miscreant's phone register.

I think MGT is on borrowed time.

Caramelwhispers · 07/03/2021 13:01

So is Lauren Brobert, she was seen taking groups round the Capitol. Her mum was allegedly the lady with a megaphone ushering & giving directions to the insurrectionists. Brobert's expenses are also under scrutiny so it won't be long now that something concrete is found to link her.

The district attorney investigating whether former U.S. President Donald Trump illegally interfered with Georgia’s 2020 election has hired an outside lawyer who is a national authority on racketeering, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters

The move bolsters the team investigating Trump as Willis prepares to issue subpoenas for evidence on whether the former president and his allies broke the law in their campaign to pressure state officials to reverse his Georgia election loss. Willis has said that her office would examine potential charges including “solicitation of election fraud, the making of false statements to state and local governmental bodies, conspiracy, racketeering” among other possible violations.

Good.

Haven't the candidates he has supported mostly lost? I can't think off-hand of the examples, but I'm sure I've seen this as a trend over the last few years.

Whatever the actualite , the narrative outside the US is that Trump single handedly gifted Georgia to the Dems. However I can't seem many candidates having the cojones to publicly refuse Trumps "help".
