I don't love the look of GG & they are too expensive but honestly if you have a high instep they are fantastic. For me it's the comfort & support that makes me buy them.

Inaquandry19 · 22/02/2021 14:49

airandgracelondon.com/collections/permanent-collection/products/cru-vintage-white-leather-trainers the vintage air and grace look slightly distressed. Been eying them up for a while.

Loopyloututu · 22/02/2021 14:54

These are my Gucci ones. I ❤️ them!

Or are they both a bit wanky?
Loopyloututu · 22/02/2021 14:56

There are some more subtle designs though if they’re a bit loud Grin

Trainerdilemma · 22/02/2021 14:58

@Loopyloututu🤣 For me personally too loud, but I’m a fairly calm, blend in ish type of person

I persevered with my Vejas and after a few wears they suddenly stopped becoming uncomfortable.

I refuse to wear GG ever since I went to their shop in Chelsea to try some on. The shop is on a corner and seemed to be all windows. I couldn’t see the bloody front door to get in, and the shop assistants were too cool busy smirking at me whilst they posed and didn’t offer to help me out in my confused “this place is too trendy”. Sod that. Not ever thought of buying their trainers again Grin

Wouldlovetobeinthesun · 22/02/2021 15:17

Every pair of vejas I've tried, the tongue digs into my ankles. When you compare the tongue on them, they are longer than others which makes them very uncomfortable. Only ones that don't are their canvas ones. Very expensive to get dirty on a first wear.

Loopyloututu · 22/02/2021 15:31

Btw - net-a-Porter has 10% off atm (code FIRST10) and they have loads of vejas and GG. I just got some (more!) vejas for £80.

Twinkie01 · 22/02/2021 15:34

I like Air & Grave. Don't look super new and shiny which I like.

Veja pumps are v v uncomfortable for me, DD and DH love theirs.

Veja trainers are amazingly comfortable.

hollyandkit · 22/02/2021 15:47

Fuck me - some of those Golden Goose ones are FUGLY and they want £400 for them? Grin Them that lives longest sees it all

Franklyfrost · 22/02/2021 16:15

@oakleaffy

@yaboo
if you want some plastic trainers, why not buy some from Asda? Same shit, but way cheaper.
Truth right there. /\

Not the truth. Vejas are extra wanky (and I’d buy them if I could afford them) because:

Their trainers are manufactured by unionised workers in Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil. The brand uses ecological and regenerated materials such as Amazonian rubber for the soles, organic cotton or recycled plastic bottles for the upper. To help secure the income of small-scale organic cotton farmers, the company pre-finances 40 per cent of the cotton it purchases in Brazil. The leather used for the trainers is traceable and guaranteed to come from farms where cattle breeding does not contribute to deforestation.

For its logistics, VEJA partners with Aterliers Sans Frontières, a reintegration association in France. Every year, AFS helps about a hundred individuals to find a job and regain social stability while engaging in sustainable community activities.

LittleGwyneth · 22/02/2021 16:36

@Bluesheep8 I think over on S&B it's got to be a breton tee, slim fit navy jeans and a trench coat!

NoCherryNoDeal · 22/02/2021 16:56

The yellowed effect on the midsole comes from the idea of hanging the sneakers in the sunlight, and together with the distressing finish, make the Dad-Star the embodiment of artisanal craftsmanship.

Someone gets paid to write this shit

Surely that goes back to the drug user reference on the first page. Are they hung out in the sunlight tied together on a telephone wire to signify a dealer is about (or what that never actually a thing?)

Either way they are awfully trainers but I like box fresh white pumps which I'm sure are now the height of mumsiness Grin

Sunhoop · 22/02/2021 17:58

I agree with Hitchflix surely no one actually LIKES how these look? It's purely some sort of jump on the bandwagon trend isn't it? Sorry OP but they're hideous. My sister has a pair of GG as she just copies every stupid trend going whether she likes them or not. I asked her if she really truly liked the look of them and she just said "I think they're really cool" 🤦🏼‍♀️

Redsquirrel5 · 22/02/2021 18:26

Oakleafy I think you and I could be friends...Converse, Vans, Sketchers I like the designs, the price( buy in the sales) and most of all the comfort.

OP it’s your money your choice but you wanted opinions. I have never spent that sort of money on shoes. I don’t follow fashion I wear what I like always have done and pleased to say DD does too.if you like them that much why are you asking on here?

KeyboardWorriers · 22/02/2021 18:28

I had some Veja's and they were the most uncomfortable trainers I have ever worn!

Jubaju · 22/02/2021 18:37

They are a bit scruffy 😬

Or are they both a bit wanky?
Caramelwhispers · 22/02/2021 20:34
@Caramelwhispers those Japanese trainers are lovely!
@BaronetBomburst I know they're lovely aren't they? I'm spoilt for choice on which pair I should get.

GoddamnCars · 22/02/2021 21:08

Why did I look up those grim-looking trainers - I'd only just trained my phone to only show me big expensive sofas on targeted ads. Now I have to look at shoes with what looks like duck shit smeared across them. And not just in my hallway.

dayswithaY · 22/02/2021 23:17

Veja are just part of the Boring Mum uniform. Breton top, Boden raincoat, cross body bag, Cath Kidston phone cover, John Lewis store card, Ray Ban sunglasses. Yawn.

I love trainers. Veja are not trainers.

Trainerdilemma · 23/02/2021 08:53

@dayswithaY 🤣 What’s your style? What would you wear? That does sound like a boring outfit

SugarfreeBlitz · 23/02/2021 09:20

Ha, this is a good thread. I particularly like the bits about buying plastic trainers from Asda, hanging trainers in the sun to yellow them and the generic, predictable "boring Mum uniform".

If you have money to burn, want something unique to avoid the Boring Mum look why not get some custom hand painted trainers?

Trainerdilemma · 23/02/2021 09:53

One of the mums at school has these, I’m just not sure about the heel though 🤔 I’m not good in heels

Or are they both a bit wanky?

I do love the worn in look though, Nike also do that aswell as Golden goose
Oohing and ahhing over these ones
