Out of boredom/interest...

I realised that in work I change my shoes AT LEAST 10 times per day.

What do you do as a part of your day/job that others might find odd or wouldn't realise?

@LindaEllen

I get to read novels by famous (and plenty of non famous!) authors before anyone else 😄

I provide monthly reports on how many lots of human waste we have cleared in a specific area of the city I work in.

WildOrchids67 · 21/02/2021 17:45

I send thousands of emails and text messages a day.

Snorkelface · 21/02/2021 17:51

I often wear a head torch and hold on to things with my teeth

tinkywinkyshandbag · 21/02/2021 17:56

I go through people's drawers, their kitchen cupboards, and the contents of their garages.

Animum2 · 21/02/2021 17:57

Dh who works in the same department as me was surprised the 1st time he heard me on the phone to a client using what he called "My posh voice"

HelloMissus · 21/02/2021 18:01

Yes have endless conversations about people who aren’t real and situations they are in that aren’t real.
And we all sit there and discuss it and no one ever says - we all know this person is just made up right?

doolallydo · 21/02/2021 18:01

I browse Rightmove and other property websites.

AViewFromTheWindows · 21/02/2021 18:06

@Theredjellybean

I talk to government ministers... They sometimes do what I say... I am not a civil servant
Ha, I’d love it if you’re the person I think you are. I don’t think a dominatrix but I wouldn’t be 100% sure. Do you try and get them to give up the pies?
ememem84 · 21/02/2021 18:17

I spend other people’s money on Ridiculously priced things. And once a year have to go to banks and do a safe deposit box check. This usually involves an inventory of jewellary. which I sometimes try on

JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister · 21/02/2021 18:18

I make children cry, then if try and change the subject I force them back to the original subject, and then I take money off their parents and they come back to me weekly, sometimes more often.

jendifer · 21/02/2021 18:40

@JackieWeaver4PrimeMinister I think we do the same job 😂

MariaAngustias · 21/02/2021 18:43

I used to visit brothels at least 3- 4 times a week, chat to the workers and screen them for blood born viruses - loved it, great fun and lovely women.

sleepyshiftworker · 21/02/2021 18:44

@LawnFever yep! 🚑

butterfly990 · 21/02/2021 19:02

I wash drills, chisels, mallets, knives, screws, visors and loads of things that I have no idea what they are.

I then pack them up and sterilise them.

I also change my shoes, wash my hands a trillion times a day.

ToffeePennie · 21/02/2021 19:23

I have been known to stick my customers toes up my nose, more than you would think is normal. I’m a foot health practitioner though and sometimes a fungal infection can only be diagnosed through a very very faint smell that most people would miss!

LittleMissnotLittleMrs · 21/02/2021 19:24

@SkiingIsHeaven

I use trigonometry.

So you should listen in school because some people actually use it in real life.

Please tell me what you do. I am a maths teacher and the more examples I have, the better!
thosetalesofunexpected · 21/02/2021 19:30

Very Good Thread Post idea.😕

TrixIrl · 21/02/2021 19:32

I used to report nationally on the death rate of over 65s and "justify" an unexpected increase/decrease with reference to things like the weather, number of kids or proximity to Christmas!

You obviously work in a hospital and autoclave theatre equipment, but I don't know exactly what to call your job.
Tunnocksmallow · 21/02/2021 20:57

@Fuckingcrustybread
I wish it was that interesting!

No, I work on a paint mixing desk in a diy store.
I love it! Get all excited when I colour match something, have to dry a sample and it is spot on.

It may not be rocket science, but I find it fascinating.
