Out of boredom/interest...

I realised that in work I change my shoes AT LEAST 10 times per day.

What do you do as a part of your day/job that others might find odd or wouldn't realise?

Tunnocksmallow · 21/02/2021 16:54

I loose count of the amount of paint lids I open and close.
I find it exciting to watch paint dry.

Progress2019 · 21/02/2021 16:54

People send me pictures of their pets. Usually dogs and guinea pigs, sometimes cats, pigs, ponies and gerbils. The odd rabbit and lizard.

ravenmum · 21/02/2021 17:00

I do not have any scientific qualifications - not even an O level - but work on studies about computational fluid dynamics, biogas reactors and how best to fertilise the soils of the Siberian steppes.

Sickoffamilydrama · 21/02/2021 17:00

Old job, talked about death on a daily basis.

Current job in charge of cutting and pulling apart a finished £60-120,000 product up & making it into something else.

Disfordarkchocolate · 21/02/2021 17:02

I don't do a proper job anymore. I'm currently juggling 14 ad hoc roles and have an interview for another next week. I have amazing time management skills and no no longer get nervous at interviews.

nonetcurtains · 21/02/2021 17:03

@Hevlerr Thank you Flowers

Tupperwarelid · 21/02/2021 17:03

Tupperwarelid
I spend tax payers money on pencils, felt tips, pritt sticks etc
What do you do? You can't work in a school, I'm told you can't get glue sticks for love nor money.

You can if you know where to look!

LawnFever · 21/02/2021 17:04

I watch tv or listen to the radio

LindaEllen · 21/02/2021 17:06

I get to read novels by famous (and plenty of non famous!) authors before anyone else 😄

SciFiScream · 21/02/2021 17:06

I ask for money and I give money away. I'm very good at it!

alloutofcareunits · 21/02/2021 17:07

Occasionally I watch TV then go to bed and sleep for 8 hours (while being paid to do so)

Toddlerteaplease · 21/02/2021 17:08

I play Polyphony to babies to make them sleep.

delsfilofax · 21/02/2021 17:10

@whoseafraidofnaomiwolf

I rest my head very close to women's belly's - so close that my face is sometimes on their thigh or near to their lady-garden's - I do this several times in the course of a working day. Grin
Midwife!
Violinist64 · 21/02/2021 17:11

I play and listen to music for several hours a day.

Unanananana · 21/02/2021 17:11

Escape rooms?

sleepyshiftworker · 21/02/2021 17:11

I drive through red traffic lights. A lot.

year5teacher · 21/02/2021 17:13

Spend an inordinate amount of time breaking up fights and then dealing with the (often hysterical) fallout afterwards.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 21/02/2021 17:16

I don’t swear.

LawnFever · 21/02/2021 17:16

Are you a paramedic?
PuppyMonkey · 21/02/2021 17:21

@stonebrambleboy

PuppyMonkey are you The Queen?
Grin

No, much better than that. I'm a foster carer. Smile

MyfanwyMontez · 21/02/2021 17:22

MrsCrawleysCookbook
I write about magic. And dragons.

Are you J K Rowling?

Pythonesque · 21/02/2021 17:23

I started working on my knees about 18 months into my first job. I still do in my current, different job. Though not at the moment working on zoom.

(trainee paediatrician then violin teacher; much easier to get close enough to small children kneeling than sitting down!)

sage46 · 21/02/2021 17:24

I get to go on holiday for my work ( not so much recently though!)

MrsCrawleyscookbook · 21/02/2021 17:25

MyfanwyMontez I wish! We are in the same business, but I am about as non-rich and famous as it is possible to be!

PenCreed · 21/02/2021 17:26

@DuckonaBike

MrsNewtS I really hope you are a sonographer.

I look after fairly old things (and some very old things) and put descriptions of them onto a publicly accessible database. I also occasionally use microfiche.

Archivist, by any chance?

I am amused by all the people on this thread with bad experience of microfiche and reader-printers. I used to work in an office where if all of them were turned on at the same time it would blow the electrics.
