Hmm

MrsMackesy · 21/02/2021 17:39

I think we need to see Daphnise's qualifications and DCs' names.

MadMadaMim · 21/02/2021 17:40

My nan was called Augustina and my granddad was August.

MadMadaMim · 21/02/2021 17:40

Augusto (autocorrect)

MrsLighthouse · 21/02/2021 17:41

The first time l heard that as a name was when singer / rapper August Alsine had a very messy and ultimately public affair with Will Smith’s wife Jade. Behaviour befitting of the Royal Family l’d say 😆

petitepeach · 21/02/2021 17:44

I really like it and he looks cute! They also look very happy 😊

bellocchild · 21/02/2021 17:47

It's fine! Keeping up Victorian traditions, named after his 5 x great-grandfathers and his actual great-grandfather Philip.

Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst · 21/02/2021 17:47

@Oscarsdaddy

Brilliant

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 21/02/2021 17:49

It's a lovely name.

MadMadaMim · 21/02/2021 17:50

August and it's derivatives are very old names. Augustus was a name before it was used as a month name.

Amaksy · 21/02/2021 17:52

Reminds me of Auggie in the movie Wonder and I love that movie.

Haveyouallgonequitemad · 21/02/2021 17:56

@SleepingStandingUp oh OK I get it so
or - gust like must trust etc like I said then

HeadNorth · 21/02/2021 17:56

@Hope4theBestPlan4theWorst

There was another thread about someone asking for a middle name for Forrest

I mean ffs

People need to realise that babies grown into adults and hopefully will have careers and enter the world of work plus go thru education

Having a ridiculous name is not helpful

Forrest is really not 'out there' at all in Scotland - especially in the Borders where it used to be usual to use the mother's maiden name as a first name (see also Campbell, Kerr, Reid etc). I knew at least one elderly Forrest who is now dead - short for Forrester.
Harmonypuss · 21/02/2021 18:01

It could be Augustus or Augustin and will be shortened for everyday use

MrsMackesy · 21/02/2021 18:04

Yes, we know a fantastic Forrest.

Not forgetting the fabulous Forrest Gump.

Whythesadface · 21/02/2021 18:11

I love the Babies name. Yep little Gus,
I think people should have expected it, his mum Eugenie is a Victorian name,

MrsMackesy · 21/02/2021 18:14

Glad to see the majority are in favour of August - currently 68%.

I also liked Beatrice and Eugenie when they were named. Good not to follow fashion but to choose names you like or to honour someone.

MorganKitten · 21/02/2021 18:17

It’s not your child’s name so what’s the issue?

Tatum1234 · 21/02/2021 18:17

I love it.

Tessabelle74 · 21/02/2021 18:36

Not your baby, not your business

saffy2 · 21/02/2021 18:49

What a mean person you are op. 100% agree with the poster asking for your children’s names. I suspect you wouldnt be happy if we ridiculed their names...and we wouldn’t because that would make us horrible people.... I wonder what this thread makes you.

Retired65 · 21/02/2021 19:14

August is actually an abbreviation of Augustus, which was one of Prince Albert's names. I agree it would have been better as a middle name. Maybe, in the future August will decide that for himself.

Armi · 21/02/2021 19:16

I love it. Good for them.

TickyTacky · 21/02/2021 19:34

It's a wonderful name, Eugenie is absolutely glowing and Jack is obviously proud as punch. They're a lovely family and I wish them well Smile

Casiloco · 21/02/2021 19:58

I've come to the conclusion that I am the one out of step. Actually August is pretty standard fare in comparison to some of the names of babies in our friendship circle.

We have recently had "Wonderwild" (!!!) "Edelweiss"(!!) and "Everest"(!) what are they thinking of?

SO relieved my DGC are Miles and Sofia - not for my sake, but for theirs! Does no-one consider what the poor child will have to go through at school?

Mind you, if the trend continues, maybe Miles and Sofia will be the odd ones out ...

caringcarer · 21/02/2021 20:01

I think he looks a cute baby and patents should choose whatever name makes them happy. He will probably be known as His.
