To wonder if I can pay someone (dog poo)

I’ve a feeling I may get flamed for this but here goes.

I have been unwell for a few weeks (and continue to be - but am getting better). I have a dog Walker who takes the dog out but in the morning and evening he does his number 2 in the garden.

As I’ve not been well it’s sort of built up - and right now I just cannot physically go out and pick it up.

Aibu to try and find out if there is someone I can pay to do this? If I’m not BU - who would I even approach? I can’t imagine putting it up on gumtree or calling a gardener for example?

Do you not know a local teenager who wants to earn a few bob ?

Crockof · 20/02/2021 10:02

Everything in life has a price, I'd post on a local community group, you could even ask the admin to post it for you if you are uncomfortable.

Chachachange · 20/02/2021 10:03

@Crockof oh getting admin to post is a good idea. I don’t mind paying well - but fear a load of abuse if I post it directly.

Give the dog walker a couple of pounds extra to do it, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind.

Chunkymenrock · 20/02/2021 10:05

Gosh, I'd be quite happy to do this to help out. Not a big deal, and yes, great way for a teenager to earn a few pounds!

Chachachange · 20/02/2021 10:05

@sandgrown not personally - and I can’t help thinking it’s a bit insulting to say to someone “does your Johnny fancy picking up the dog shit from my garden for £60” or whatever.

Its just so tricky to ask really. Glad I didn’t get “pick up your own crap” in the first posts though - makes me feel a little better.

Offer to pay the dog walker, or ask on your local area group of a teenager wants the money. Just explain you're too unwell.
(Presuming you don't have anything infectious.)

MrsSugar · 20/02/2021 10:08

Google it or look it up on fb in your area.

Believe it or not I actually seen this service advertised on fb before and was really surprised that it existed !

Hope you get it sorted

My dog sitter also runs a 'poo lady' business and does exactly this. Have a google, someone local to you will do it.

Bleughbleughbleugh12 · 20/02/2021 10:13

Defo ask dog Walker, they’ll be completely used to it!

Emeraldshamrock · 20/02/2021 10:13

Adverise the role on your local FB.
It happens you are sorted it and that's the main thing, there is loads of garden clearance quote offer online.

Floralnomad · 20/02/2021 10:16

I’d ask the dog Walker first , they will either do it or probably know someone who would . Get well soon .

Chachachange · 20/02/2021 10:17

Thanks all - feel much better about it now

Good grief.... I hope you pay well for this revolting job.

UltimateBlends · 20/02/2021 10:43

Where are you op?
I have 3 massive dogs and spend about 20 - 30 minutes a day picking poo and cleaning patios..
It's such a hateful job, but I would happily do if for someone else, im outside anyway half my life doing the manky work!

Also have chickens too. So even more poop.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 20/02/2021 10:45

Ask your dog walker to do it.

I'm a dog walker and I do poo pick-ups for a disabled client. I don't charge her any extra and just do it on my way out each day - she has a poo bin over the road so it's no bother.

Hoppinggreen · 20/02/2021 10:48

One of our local dog walkers teenager has started a little business doing this.

Hoppinggreen · 20/02/2021 10:48

@Mellonsprite

Good grief.... I hope you pay well for this revolting job.
Why? Are you interested?
1099 · 20/02/2021 10:51

Why not ask the Dog Walker if they know anyone who might be willing to do it, that way you don't put them in the position of having to decline but also give them an opportunity to say they'll do it.

Mellonsprite · 20/02/2021 10:53

@Hoppinggreen no, sadly not.... I’m afraid I couldn’t even name my price for this.

RickiTarr · 20/02/2021 10:54

@idontlikealdi

My dog sitter also runs a 'poo lady' business and does exactly this. Have a google, someone local to you will do it.
What does she charge? There are definitely days I’d pay for that. I wonder if it will catch on?
Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 20/02/2021 10:55

Picking it up never bothers me but I'd definitely pay someone GrinWhat ever you choose, please do it quickly. Poor dog doesn't want to walk around trying to avoid his poop and he will, if he hasn't already, walk in it and bring it in the house. We used to offer to pay our now grown up DC, quite a lot of money but they all declinedGrin

Lunariagal · 20/02/2021 10:56

Hmmm I'm a gardener, no way would I do this.

Hiwever, my nephew did this a couple of summers ago for a neighbour when he had to raise money for a trip.

MRex · 20/02/2021 11:00

OP - just in case you are in an area they cover: www.thepoopatrol.co.uk/.
Search Google if not for your area name and something like "pick up dog poo".

EnglishRain · 20/02/2021 11:02

I'm a dog owner and wouldn't mind doing this for someone. Might be helpful to know if it's a large garden and how much poo, ie. will a bin bag and pair of gloves do, or will wellies and a spade be needed etc given how wet it has been.
