They're so much more flattering than leggings :)

With a stripe up the side and the elasticated bit that goes over the sole of your foot?

You could be on to something there. Everything comes back around so maybe your wish will summon them back into fashion.

RubysArms · 19/02/2021 20:53

Eddie the Eagle chic.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/02/2021 20:55

No stripe but yes the stirrup under your foot .
Only downside was if they were a bit short , they pulled .

80s fashion was the Best .
I only wish I still had my 80s figure!

Meowchickameowmeow · 19/02/2021 20:57

You are being very unreasonable, they were hideous. You can buy them on Shein or Amazon though so someone must like them.

JoanWilderbeast · 19/02/2021 20:57

Yes, exactly that @RubysArms. The 80's was a reboot of the original 60's trend, forgot to add.

I've been wearing salopettes to walk the dogs since christmas, quite flattering but for fashion I'd want them a bit higher waisted if I didnt have leggings on underneath

JoanWilderbeast · 19/02/2021 21:00

They weren't as fat knee hugging as leggings, is their big plus point for me.

OP posts:
HelloDulling · 19/02/2021 21:01

Plenty of stirrup foot styles around at the moment. Try Zara.

JoanWilderbeast · 19/02/2021 21:03

Oops, yes no stripe just stirrup. Thanks @HelloDulling will have a look.

OP posts:
JoanWilderbeast · 19/02/2021 21:10

They look like leggings with stirrups. The 80's/60's ones were more of a straight leg design but with stirrups, if you know what I mean.

Omg I remember begging my mum to buy me ski pants as they were so cool. Loved my peddle pushers too 😁

1Morewineplease · 19/02/2021 21:13

They were great and more flattering than leggings ( wish they'd die off again!)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/02/2021 21:13

In the 80s though , leggings weren't so popular .
One of my mates wore some , we thought "Bloody Hell, she's wearing her Dad's long johns"

Ski pants were so much nicer .

Also (in no particular order)

Donkey Jackets
Skintight jeans with 5% lycra
White frilly shirts
Tucker Boots
Red braces
RaRa skirts (for shame)
Long line jumpers (knee length) over your skinny jeans

Blue mascara
The floppy fringe under cut scalped at the back hair

DenisetheMenace · 19/02/2021 21:14

My lovely, taut 89s bottom: perfectly reasobable
My 2021 bottom: don’t be ridiculous Grin

But yes, if you really must wear such a garment at all, ski pants are more flattering.

DenisetheMenace · 19/02/2021 21:15

80s not 89s
Obviously, not just my arse that’s become fatter 🙄

RubysArms · 19/02/2021 21:16

Oh I loved pedal pushers. I had blue velvet ones and little ankle boots.

I looked a 1980s Little Lady Fauntleroy.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/02/2021 21:26

oooh I had those blacker than black completely man made fibre ones...slight rib effect, SIDE concealed zip.

And an aran hand knit batwing jumper, and cream suede pixie boots that I bought with my grant money in Oxford Street BHS.

Corkscrew perm

Sex on a stick!

I pine for my billiard table flat stomach and 1980s size six figure.

Furrydogmum · 19/02/2021 22:24

I loved my blue velour ski pants! I'd look a turd in them now though!

KnackeredHag · 19/02/2021 22:26

Oh my. Black ski pants (hooked under the heel of an ankle boot) with a denim shirt. Those were the days!

ChristOnAPeloton · 19/02/2021 22:28

Ew.

LApprentiSorcier · 19/02/2021 22:30

Nah. I am top heavy with small bum and hips, massive tummy and boobs. I look like an upside down poo-emoji in trousers.

AbsentmindedWoman · 19/02/2021 22:41

Oh I bloody loved ski pants when I was about six Grin

Belledan1 · 19/02/2021 22:50

Omg I loved them too. Use to look the business with my silky blouse with the brooche on the top button and my plastic black earrings . Probably wore them with my trendy shoes.

MorrisZapp · 19/02/2021 22:53

No other garment is that man made. Your crotch gave off whiffs by late morning.

MorrisZapp · 19/02/2021 22:54

Snooker ball beads.
