AIBU to go to bed and stay there until they can come and mend it on Wednesday?

And yes I have done all the checks. BT have confirmed it isn't something I can resolve.

And yes I can toggle data from my phone but enough to power YouTube hungry teenage gamers. I think not.

They'll have to rough it like we did in the olden days Grin

DownToTheSeaAgain · 19/02/2021 16:55

Yes @MissBaskinIfYoureNasty but I will be expected to facilitate this roughing it. Bed is still a better option.

I know how yo fix it for you and its very easy. Wine.

DownToTheSeaAgain · 19/02/2021 17:00

@SamBeckettsLastLeap so I pour the wine into the WiFi box? BT didn't suggest that but I am so desperate I might give it a go.

Maybe promise a reward if you can afford one if the house is spotless by Wednesday?
Four teens could get the skirting done, regrout your bathroom tiles, wash down the walls with those pads from Aldi...
Could be like a training course in home maintenance Grin

Globe22 · 19/02/2021 17:08

Gin this will help you!

williowrosenburg · 19/02/2021 17:08

We had no phone or broadband for 3 days!
Two of us WFh and DD meant to be home schooling plus you tube is our unpaid babysitter while we work... it was painful!

Does anyone have unlimited data on their phones? Thankfully DH does on his so we tethered to his phone to work and do home schooling.

FolkyFoxFace · 19/02/2021 17:24

BT can connect you to a hotspot if you really bother them. They also send out little mini smart hub things! Not sure if the latter would arrive before they come to fix the problem, but last time we had this issue it turned up the next day. The evening before that they connected us to a (shaky but working) hotspot.

You do have to really push though.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 19/02/2021 17:29

Ask bt to send you a mini hub, ours came next day

LynetteScavo · 19/02/2021 17:47

Put on 80s/90s radio and tell them this is how it was when you were young.

itsgettingwierd · 19/02/2021 17:49

Tell them you are homeschooling and want a dongle as they are still charging you for data!

Frogartist · 19/02/2021 17:52

You will just to play Monopoly until they've sorted it out!

peak2021 · 19/02/2021 17:58

Phone or mini-hub may be the answer. If you don't ask you won't get.

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 19/02/2021 17:58

@LynetteScavo

Put on 80s/90s radio and tell them this is how it was when you were young.
I'm with @LynetteScavo. Get some glow sticks out and tell them they're auditioning for one of those 'How the Victorians lived' series. Except it's not the Victorians, obvs.

What even are we, are we New Elizabethans?

billy1966 · 19/02/2021 18:00

Oh my.
Quickly grab necessities and barricade yourself in.😁🌻

DudeistPriest · 19/02/2021 18:06

DC this is a book, it's like a tablet but made of reusable materials and instead of swiping you have to flip the pages over.
Teens: wow so cool and retro is this what they had back in the 90s when you were young?

StormzyinaTCup · 19/02/2021 18:08

I feel your pain Gin
Two teens here and our WiFi was down for five days last year. I caved after 2 days and bought a ‘dongle’ thingy from EE. At the time it did involve going into a shop so not sure if it can be done remotely but might be an option if you get desperate.

Best of luck.

Funneth · 19/02/2021 18:16

Wednesday, whoa that's ages away. By then it might be like the ending scene of Lord of the Flies.

MrsMackesy · 19/02/2021 18:21

If they are anything like mine, reporting you to Childline will be threatened Gin Wine Cake Brew

RandomMess · 19/02/2021 18:27

Get the monopoly board out and leave them to it!!!

billy1966 · 19/02/2021 18:29

Don't worry.
They may be cranky for 24 hours but they will detox and come round.
🤞🙏

MargaretThursday · 19/02/2021 18:30

I remember that moment.
I have never seen 3 teens come down the stairs so quickly to demand to be taken out... to anywhere with free Wifi.

And (you won't believe this customer service attitude) the manager of Virgin media actually laughed when I asked if they did trauma packages for traumatised teens when the Wifi was off. They did give me a month's free Wifi and a new better model modem when it was fixed though.

MarshaBradyo · 19/02/2021 18:30

We all did it. Good luck

MrsMackesy · 19/02/2021 18:32

BT should send you a mini-hub and give unlimited data on your phone.
