AIBU to hate going for walks?

I'm still on maternity leave and DH is on furlough. We try to get out for a walk with our 8 month old most days so they can get a change of scenery and some fresh air.

However, I just can't stand going out - I hate the miserable cold weather, the fucking relentless grey skies and the boring, concrete, suburban area we live in with very little to see or do, particularly as everything is shut due to lockdown.

I just feel so lethargic, dread the thought of walking anywhere (it seems like so much effort to walk walk walk for an hour or two) and just CBA - I'd much rather sit at home on the sofa with a cuppa and some biscuits and put my feet up.

Is it normal to feel like this or am I exceptionally lethargic/lazy?

I'm the laziest person on the face of the earth. You can't drag me out of the house for a walk I'm afraid.

My children are the same. Dh takes them out but they hate it so it's not everyday.

Someone will be along to say how terrible it is, but whatever. We all like different things.

Givemeabreak88 · 19/02/2021 15:48

I don’t, I don’t go out daily or go for daily walks, I got a lot of horrified responses on here when I posted though, as if as are all suppose to love going for a walk. I didn’t even go for walks before this situation.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 19/02/2021 15:50

Nor me. You'd think it was compulsory though the way some people go on.

piglet81 · 19/02/2021 15:50

I do actually like going for a walk, but this year has sucked the joy out of it. Very hard to summon much enthusiasm for the same park on another cold, grey day...

FloatingAlien · 19/02/2021 15:51

I hate going for a walk. I do it a few times a week so my kids get fresh air but I despise it. Possibly worse because we've been walking the same old places day in day out because we can't drive anywhere different.

Fuckadoodledoooo · 19/02/2021 15:51

Also, I live in a shithole. We'd get mugged. Dh has to take the kids to a field nearby, the streets around here are awful for people hanging about and swearing/spitting as you walk past Sad

rawalpindithelabrador · 19/02/2021 15:52

It's got boring AF.

Juanbablo · 19/02/2021 15:53

I don't love it but I have a dog so I have to. Kids hate it unless going to the park or to play ball with the dog.

Notanotherhun · 19/02/2021 15:54

Walking is wonderful, it really does one the world of good to get out and get fresh air and the blood pumping. I have been exploring all the streets and places around my area. Can't get bored when lots to see, maybe look for birds? If you get out early you can enjoy the birdsong. Smile

Totally get this. My mother in law use to ring us during the first lockdown and ask had we been for our daily walk, as if BJ said it was a compulsory daily walk.
Tiredmum100 · 19/02/2021 15:58

😂😂😂

TheGoogleMum · 19/02/2021 15:58

I too have never been a fan of walks. I'm still going out to work so that's my main excuse. DD at nursery. I do feel a bit bad for her if she's stuck inside all weekend though because she loves going out so we try to make the effort more than we want to but definitely not every day and even then the walk might just be to the park!

Notanotherhun · 19/02/2021 15:59

My dwarves have bid ye a merry feck off too. Grin

MasterBeth · 19/02/2021 15:59

I am very lucky - I live between the river and the woods and the park and the city. I don’t hate walks at all but I am still bored shitless doing the same half dozen walks week after week after week.

MabelMoo23 · 19/02/2021 16:00

Can’t bear it, especially at the moment

Boring AF now. No gym, no dance classes or any classes, no team sports, no yoga ashram, no travelling to go on long walking routes, just same ol' same ol' boring AF 'go for a walk'.

Substance misuse and abuse on the rise, weight going up for many people.

I fucking hate mornings. And morning people are irritating AF.

Open back up again. This is getting ridiculous.

BlueTimes · 19/02/2021 16:01

I enjoy going out for walks but there has been little to enjoy about the recent weather or the fact it’s now the only alternative to sitting at home, yet again.

yumscrumfatbum · 19/02/2021 16:02

I like a walk if its a catch up with a friend, a good chat really revitilises me. Just me? Can't be arsed.

Janaih · 19/02/2021 16:03

Its become clear that it was the add ons that made walks fun; takeaway coffee and a kit kat, meeting friends, going for a pub lunch after. The joy has been sucked out. The only bonus is that it makes you appreciate your cosy house when you get home.

Crunchymum · 19/02/2021 16:04

We live very centrally so walking - for me - has always been to go somewhere. Doesn't matter how far, I'd walk for hours as long as I was going somewhere.

Aimless walking isn't for me.

Now our usual means of exercise and fresh air have been curtailed, I do try to drag the kids out every other day. They are like me though and see little point of walking for walking sake.

We do canal walks quite often but that has got boring (you go one way or another and then you get to X point and turn back)

Its been too cold to walk to the bigger parks but we'll start doing that soon.

Spillanelle · 19/02/2021 16:05

I’m so sick of bloody walks, nice enough in the summer I suppose, but absolutely miserable in this weather. We also live in boring suburbia though, I can imagine it must be lovely if you live in the countryside, or even in a city where there is something to look at, not just thousands of the same houses.

MotorwayDiva · 19/02/2021 16:09

I used to love walking, after this year I am over it.
Plus everywhere is covered in dog poo, wish people would pick up after their pets!

Notanotherhun · 19/02/2021 16:10

Literally agog. So much you can do of a walk. Do a nature spot, look for the first signs of spring, count colours of cars, greet other people and their dogs. I mean it's not the same as normal but it is what you make of it. If you've got children, then skip, run, hop skotch or even play follow the leader. Me and my little one walk past the garage on our way to the local fire station and he will happily watch and chatter about what he sees. And that's within 10 mins of the house. It's all in the attitude, if you are negative about exercise and walking then it's hardly surprising if your children are they same.

singme · 19/02/2021 16:13

I quite like a walk, it’s a break from stopping my 10 month old from doing all her own stunts Grin. Stick her in the pushchair, she’s either looking around or falls asleep, and I listen to a funny podcast. I’ve become immensely sad and get excited by a new path these days Blush
