To ask what was the most awkward/inappropriate gift you have ever received?

Mine was for my 15th birthday from my brother. He got me 3 pairs of underwear in different colours, they had a picture of lips embroidered on them and the middle of said lips cut out, and underneath they said ‘kiss me’

I never wore them. Never will. Ever.

Completely inappropriate for a 15 year old or from a relative. I must have gone red when I opened the wrapping. My brother is autistic and has mild learning disabilities though, so maybe he hadn’t picked up that this would not be appropriate.

A man's Gillette set - shaving foam, razor plus replacement head, washbag to keep them in - from my in-laws. I am not a man. Meanehile DH and the DC got several very nice gifts including new clothes and cash, I had to pretend to be really happy with it and DH was sitting there horrified. They must have realised something was up as they very quickly pointed out that the massive tin of sweets that was part of DH's presents was actually for us to share so really I got a men's shaving kit and half a tin of sweets. Score.

From same in-laws, another year, a Lush gift set. Lovely! Except it was partially used complete with a suspect hair dried onto the side of the squidgy bar of soap.

My fiancé's brothers partner bought me a sexual type board game for Christmas (I think I'd only met her 2-3 times and definitely weren't close AT ALL). It was so awkward as I had had to unwrap it in front of his parents..

I'm friends with a married couple whose gift choices for me have sometimes been somewhat illogical. One Christmas about 15 years ago while I was living alone and perpetually single, for some reason they felt that the thing I really needed at the time was a board game for multiple players . It was still in the cellophane over a decade later when I finally got rid.

In a work Secret Santa, a naked inflatable man, about 60cm tall. I've no idea who got it for me or why, or even what the point was, but it was very odd. Into the bin he went. Without ever being inflated

I was on holiday at my DP parents, it was my second year skiing. I was already mardy as it was gone lunch time and I still had been given my present. When in my DP walks with skis complete with Christmas wrapping paper. My face said it all.....
