Is it suspicious and should I report? Not Covid!

I say report - I mean the police but it is only suspicious to me - I moved here from London and have street cred awareness of surroundings.

I live in a super Naice Area. A stepford wives type housing estate. Well heeled, well to do, polite people, fashionable dogs and very quiet blah blah.

It's a complete dead end but has two roads in and out. It's quite large and has a supermarket in the middle so the main road at one end is busy but the rest is quiet.

I first saw this car maybe in November lockdown whilst walking with kids. Again in December twice. And again today. 4 times.

A man parked up. Windows open. (It's cold!). A 15 plate sporty Merc - nothing to note.

First time - parked up
Second time I saw him when I was driving home from work and he was driving out the estate (wiping his nose) right near where he parks.
Third time parked up - same place
Fourth time today - parked up same place.

Time always between 3-4pm.

When I saw him drive out he was alone so not picking someone up.

There is nothing to do on the road. It doesn't go anywhere. No schools are open.
He just sits there. Not on phone. Not talking. Just staring ahead.

Today I took a pretend photo of DC but actually was taking his number plate.

AIBU to be suspicious?
What do you think he's up to?

@Bimblybomeyelash Grin it absolutely is a Warren without Waitrose. I think I need to call the MP (about the lack of Waitrose, not the dude in the merc)

Imagining wisteria lane with a supermarket slap bang in middleGrin

CantBeAssed · 18/02/2021 23:32

Possibly unroadworthy car🤣
I have to ask op..are you possibly a snob?

babbaloushka · 18/02/2021 23:37

Sometimes people will stake out houses before attempting burglaries? That's all I can think of.

HappyasLaura · 18/02/2021 23:55

Does he ever play the saxophone? If so then you’ll be pleased to hear the very same individual also hangs out on my road. Evenings at around 10.30pm, perhaps once a month.
It’s annoying and pleasant in equal measure.

Regularsizedrudy · 19/02/2021 00:13

“I don't mean to be intriguing on colour but I'm not judging. It's not relevant to my story.”

Yes it is.

He’s not white then.

EspressoExpresso · 19/02/2021 00:49

@pipsqueakbollock

Hard to explain (can't believe no one has asked for a map Wink)

Roundabout into bottom estate. Near ish a school. Road goes nowhere but to several cul-de-sacs. Approx 10 of them. They are all linked by footpath. Up down left right. We can choose a dozen routes on foot.

Off this road is one road which goes through middle to the big main road to supermarket. Still a pointless road that goes nowhere. He parks before this but well into estate.

The one time I passed him in a vehicle he left from this road.
It makes no sense to park there and 3 point turn to leave. You'd go through facing same way and out the top.

Where he parks has no houses at all. Fences and gardens to the cul-de-sacs on the sides. It's a totally nothing road. He can't see anyone's front door.

Why is he there every time I go that way at that time? He's not there on Saturday when I go for a run. Or 6pm when I walk the dog.

Always 3-4pm. Baffling.

I think we're going to need a diagram.
Jenasaurus · 19/02/2021 01:20

Hes parking there as he feels he is out of sight in his car without an MOT

greenlynx · 19/02/2021 01:44

He has nothing to look at ahead of him because he’s watching at the mirrors. It’s more convenient. We used to do this while waiting for our time slot at viewings.
I don’t mean that he’s waiting for a viewing but that’s why he’s parking this way.
I like the idea that he’s waiting to see that his cleaner left, or his MIL, or mistress’s husband .... the possibilities are endless.

By the way, is it at least Co-op?

IamtheAuthority · 19/02/2021 02:40

I won't use the name that is encapsulates everything exactly what you feel entitled to do, but yep, that's the one, that's exactly how you are behaving and why it exists

IamtheAuthority · 19/02/2021 02:42

everything that you feel entitled to do

Warsawa31 · 19/02/2021 03:20

To be fair it's three in the morning and what started out as a see I'll pointless thread actually turned out to be quite entertaining (:

Does he wear a hat ? That's important to know

picknmix1984 · 19/02/2021 03:46

My god! You're a neighbour from hell!

picknmix1984 · 19/02/2021 03:51

Just to add- I think you need to get a hobby or a job or something. You are obviously so frikin bored!

GingerScallop · 19/02/2021 04:24

Man in a Merc on another thread

AIBU I have lived here my whole life and have village cred. I take a few moments to myself each day sitting in my car after I finish my day's work. This woman, stands out as an ex-Londoner - walks by with a dog. She pretends she's just walking by but I can tell she is sneaking a peek at me. Should I report her?

CaramelCup · 19/02/2021 04:35

Could be a dad arrived at your posh estate slightly early to collect his kids before driving them back to his house?
So instead of sitting early outside his ex wife’s house, he parks up somewhere else and waits for a bit?

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 19/02/2021 04:58

I've got deja vu reading this thread Confused

What's street cred awareness?

PhilCornwall1 · 19/02/2021 04:59

@Ileflottante

Dying at I moved here from London and have street cred awareness of surroundings 😂

Well played, OP.

This got me too 🤣🤣

I live in a super Naice Area. A stepford wives type housing estate. Well heeled, well to do, polite people, fashionable dogs and very quiet blah blah.

This place is comedy gold.

PhilCornwall1 · 19/02/2021 05:03
  • And in the same area? Car doesn't match salesman really - not for this area.*

I expect it doesn't. As it's "super naice", even the window cleaners drive Bentleys.

DailyCandy · 19/02/2021 05:22

Stakeout.
I don't mean he's necessarily doing a stakeout.
I think you should do a stakeout.

PopsicleHustler · 19/02/2021 05:25

It's the fashionable dogs that I am concerned about

Lol

PhilCornwall1 · 19/02/2021 05:29

How can it be a super naice place if it is an estate and furthermore the supermarket isn’t a Waitrose ? Is your name Hyacinth?

He’s waiting to pick up kids at that time of day surely?
