Is it suspicious and should I report? Not Covid!

I say report - I mean the police but it is only suspicious to me - I moved here from London and have street cred awareness of surroundings.

I live in a super Naice Area. A stepford wives type housing estate. Well heeled, well to do, polite people, fashionable dogs and very quiet blah blah.

It's a complete dead end but has two roads in and out. It's quite large and has a supermarket in the middle so the main road at one end is busy but the rest is quiet.

I first saw this car maybe in November lockdown whilst walking with kids. Again in December twice. And again today. 4 times.

A man parked up. Windows open. (It's cold!). A 15 plate sporty Merc - nothing to note.

First time - parked up
Second time I saw him when I was driving home from work and he was driving out the estate (wiping his nose) right near where he parks.
Third time parked up - same place
Fourth time today - parked up same place.

Time always between 3-4pm.

When I saw him drive out he was alone so not picking someone up.

There is nothing to do on the road. It doesn't go anywhere. No schools are open.
He just sits there. Not on phone. Not talking. Just staring ahead.

Today I took a pretend photo of DC but actually was taking his number plate.

AIBU to be suspicious?
What do you think he's up to?

Maybe he heard about the fashionable dogs and thinks it's a dogging site.

mumwon · 18/02/2021 20:27

op
check your neighbours for strange visitors -you may have a drug lord living in your cul-de-sac
Op
did your dh & you move from London because as drug lords you wanted somewhere posher! You have been sprung!

StoneofDestiny · 18/02/2021 20:28

Definitely report - wiping his nose is suspect. Coke?

JulietMadeChutney · 18/02/2021 20:31

Um, I sometimes sit in the car at the far end of my road after work. On a Monday. If I leave on time. Soooo probably about once a month.

My excuse? As I drive towards my house I can see if the cleaners are still there (car on the road) and me turning up as they are doing the final bits/hall floor etc is just a PITA for all of us. But I don't want them to think I am avoiding them even though I am. So I drive past my house, round the corner and wait 10 minutes or so, reading the news MN or something on my phone. Then go home.

I shall expect to be arrested next time.

Helloyouthere · 18/02/2021 20:33

Its prob undercover police, private investigator or someone killing some time between jobs or picking someone up.

Couple of months ago I was sat in my car in a upmarket village for a hour. I got loads of funny, dirty looks. I was just waiting for my son to finish his sport lesson Smile

DialSquare · 18/02/2021 20:33

As a fellow Londoner with street cred I wouldn't report him. I'm not Bertie Smalls.

FossilisedFanny · 18/02/2021 20:40

My friends husband used to disappear, we tracked him down once sitting in his van in Sainsbury’s car park taking cocaine.

bonfireheart · 18/02/2021 20:41

The street next to mine has lots of parking spaces, more parking spaces than houses, honestly the number of people that park up there for ages, check their phone, read a paper, just stare into space! Usually I think it's just people between appointments.

Chickenwing · 18/02/2021 20:45

I used to work in security and we were told to report any suspicious behaviour, just in case. No harm in reporting it. The police may not take it seriously, but you never know.

Does that include reporting the person (OP) taking sneaky photos of someone sat in a car???
Sn0tnose · 18/02/2021 20:57

Perhaps all the Stepfords wives are concerned you are a bit too ‘street’ for the area, so they’ve hired a private detective to see how fashionable your dog is.

Love all these witty replies

Nowhere near a bus route

It's about a mile from my own house - we walk when I finish work and DC finish online school. If it's sunny, I tend to go earlier and work later instead.
We do a 2 mile loop. He's just always there in the same spot at the same time doing the same thing (which is nothing) with his windows open.

I think he receives a drug drop.

Under cover police?

So in the past 3-4 months - you've seen him just 4 times.

Could the reason you only see him around 3-4pm have something to do with the fact that you don't live on that street and only tend to go down it - around 3-4pm? So how would you see him at any other time???

Maybe he lives there! And he's there all the time. Perhaps he likes to sit for a few minutes before driving off after getting in his car??

Given that the road he's on doesn't go anywhere as you've said - just leads to cul-de-sacs - how did you see him when driving home from work yourself??? Do you work in one of the cul-de-sacs?

Maybe he's on Mercnet or similar asking whether it's suspicious that someone keeps walking past his house each day 3-4pm taking photos of his car - on a road that doesn't go anywhere?

Reinventinganna · 18/02/2021 21:46

Maybe he is watching you too?

YouBringLightInToADarkPlace · 18/02/2021 21:58

Ohhh now I need to know. You must ask him what right he has to loiter there and report back OP.
Perhaps he's learning to meditatate?

MaLarkinn · 18/02/2021 22:16

There's no way he receives a drug drop in the same place regularly, don't be soft.

pipsqueakbollock · 18/02/2021 22:19

Hard to explain (can't believe no one has asked for a map Wink)

Roundabout into bottom estate. Near ish a school. Road goes nowhere but to several cul-de-sacs. Approx 10 of them. They are all linked by footpath. Up down left right. We can choose a dozen routes on foot.

Off this road is one road which goes through middle to the big main road to supermarket. Still a pointless road that goes nowhere. He parks before this but well into estate.

The one time I passed him in a vehicle he left from this road.
It makes no sense to park there and 3 point turn to leave. You'd go through facing same way and out the top.

Where he parks has no houses at all. Fences and gardens to the cul-de-sacs on the sides. It's a totally nothing road. He can't see anyone's front door.

Why is he there every time I go that way at that time? He's not there on Saturday when I go for a run. Or 6pm when I walk the dog.

Always 3-4pm. Baffling.

OP posts:
Ijustknowitstimetogo · 18/02/2021 22:19

Maybe he arrives early for an appointment in someone’s home?

Counselling. Reflexology. Massage. Sex. ?

pipsqueakbollock · 18/02/2021 22:21

@Ijustknowitstimetogo but then he would drive into the cul-de-sac and park. By their house Confused

Jenasaurus · 18/02/2021 22:22

You say not COVID but the nose wiping is a concern, definitely report :)

Jenasaurus · 18/02/2021 22:27

Could he be killing time before picking up his DC from an afterschool club activity and there is no parking outside the school allowed for waiting. He may get there early because he comes straight from work as there is no time to go home first.

Nicknacky · 18/02/2021 22:30

@StoneofDestiny You are kidding, right?

pipsqueakbollock · 18/02/2021 22:35

I'm encouraged by your accusations that I should be a PI

I stuck it through the car tax website. I have not shown the number plate!

No MOT. Now I'm a little cross. Should I report him now????!

Is it suspicious and should I report? Not Covid!

So you’ve noticed this car 4 times since November? I can see why you’d think that was suspicious.
