To be triggered by the sight and sound of Nicola Sturgeon

Since lockdown started I have found that it creates a feeling of dread and anxiety in me every time I hear her voice or see a photo of Nicola Sturgeon or watch her on TV. Same with Boris to an extent, but less so due to Scottish restrictions being more relevant to me. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to hear her speak or see her without these horrible feelings coming back: feeling of bleakness and worry about what she’s going to say next. I think I’ve just come to associate her voice and face with bad news. There’s also part of me that has a sense she’s enjoying the level of control she has over the nation. I just don’t think I’ll ever be able to listen to her again without being transported back to these horrible times. I know in my rational mind she’s just doing her job, but I still feel a strong aversion due to the messages she’s delivering

I fail to see how reporting something with nothing to back it up is anything but pointless. Of course nothing would come of it! You can't take action against someone based on hearsay.

Exactly Bidens
When the complaints were made formally action was taken - but Sturgeon seems to be at fault for that too - blamed for 'stitching him up'

GoLightlyontheEarth · 17/02/2021 18:40

She’s handled things much better than Boris. However she obviously hates him and is playing a constant game of one up man ship . I don’t like that at all. The good of the country should come before petty personal grievances. I also don’t like her absolute obsession with Independence whether the people want it or not.

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 18:47

Nobody knows what would’ve/could’ve been done. Maybe nothing. Maybe save some women from some things. Who knows. Fact is she was happy to back him until she had more power than him.
dotoall I agree. In my post when I said England I meant the Govt, whoever it might be. It saddens me that English people now say they don’t want us anymore. The Indy campaign uses this to stoke the divide which is actually being created by Indy supporters hatred of England in the first place. No wonder English people get fed up with us.

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 18:55

It would be on my conscience if I didn’t at least try.
Would you cosy up to a perv in public to help him in his quest for power?

It might be on hers. I don't know. Would you compromise your career that you have worked towards all your life on a fruitless mission to blacken someone else's name, with the knowledge that you'd probably get accused of doing it to further your own career?

Morsmordre · 17/02/2021 19:00

@LillyBugg

I feel like this about the BBC notifications on my phone. When the noise goes off I instantly go 'oh ffs what now'
In our house they're called 'the chimes of doom'.
Jaypreen · 17/02/2021 19:09

I can't abide the woman. She's a divisive, authoritarian Anglo Phobic mare. I hate her and her husband, with that nauseatingly pious, goody-goody image of crushing liberal uniformity they always exude.

How can the proud and bullshit-hating Scots tolerate them, I often wonder?

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 19:12

Well she’s being accused of that now but didn’t do the right thing at the time either. In my opinion. Like I say, we disagree.

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 19:15

Jay, this is it. The goody goody image, it makes me wonder what they are hiding. Nobody gets to that position being ‘nice’. I don’t trust politicians in general. Don’t trust them. I don’t trust Boris, but we know not to trust him! It’s the ones that hide things well I am more suspicious of. Maybe better the devil you know?

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 19:20

Out of curiosity, what image would you rather they portrayed, if you don't want 'nice'?

LexMitior · 17/02/2021 19:23

@Jollygoodtime

You know your politicians and you are wise!

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 19:23

Well nice would be good if it felt genuine. She is nice until someone questions her and she turns. It is at those points when her temper almost flares and her head wobbles you see the mask start to slip.

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 19:27

Aren't we all nice until we are faced with something that makes us not?

UrAWizHarry · 17/02/2021 19:29

Sturgeon is hated on here simply because she is a woman in a position of power. It's pathetic.

Comparing her handling of the pandemic to boris is like comparing Usain Bolt to a piece of useless fucking shit without legs.

Because she's none of those things. Odd you hate someone who is not responsible for you and who you don't know
Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 19:36

If there was a waiter in a restaurant, really nice, suddenly turned and snapped at you, rolled his eyes, tutted and spoke through gritted teeth while trying to make a fool out of you, what would you do? I would complain because it’s poor behaviour, unprofessional and nasty. Wouldn’t you? She gets away with it because she is untouchable up here.

Also I think I’ve been pretty nice here, to you, even though you have argued every single point I have made. I only gave my opinion to a question you asked and now it feels like an interrogation. You want me to justify everything. But I really would like to know why you are this investing in trying to discredit peoples opinions?

Jaypreen · 17/02/2021 19:47

Quite so. I hope that 'what they are hiding' in Sturgeon's case, will be made public soon.

I've given terms that express why I hate her. Where did I mention her sex?

The only person to that is you !

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 20:21

If there was a waiter that was faced with someone repeating the same questions they asked the last time they spoke, and that kept on bringing up the menu from three months ago, then they may well roll their eyes.

Interesting that you are trying to make out like I'm overinvested in this conversation, when you seen equally invested in it.

I haven't been discourteous or disrespectful. I've been looking for clarity when things have not been clear. I haven't tried to twist your words, I haven't tried to persuade you to change your point of view.

I've been trying to understand your point of view, and highlight reasons that I disagree. Is that wrong of me? What would you rather I do?

LexMitior · 17/02/2021 20:26

I don't think Sturgeon should be rolling her eyes and looking askance when asked a question. No professional politician should do that - its very unprofessional. In fact any professional would not do that even if the question is very very stupid, right?

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 20:26

It is not wrong but you asked what we thought, I told you my opinion, you continue trying to show me why I am wrong and apparently I continue to bite. I’ve said before it’s clear we disagree. Can we not just leave it at that? We’re not going to change each others opinion. Opinion is not fact. Neither of us are necessarily right or wrong.

Jollygoodtime · 17/02/2021 20:30

Sorry I only replied to some of your post. The waiter thing. Hmm really? Even worse doing it to a regular customer but seriously it’s unprofessional in every way.
I just feel we keep going around in circles. We disagree. Done Smile

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 20:35

Well obviously I'm right Grin (joking)

But yeah, I think the discussion had pretty much run it's course now anyway. Still waiting to hear from someone that does support Salmond, but they are very quiet.

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 20:36

Oh I'm not saying it's professional. But in certain circumstances it's understandable. And Richard Leonard and Ruth Davidson are two of those circumstances... 😉

BidensWingWoman · 17/02/2021 20:39

But rolling eyes isn't nearly as bad as mouthing 'fuck you maree' with a venomous look.

But ultimately politicians are human first and politicians second, and none of them are perfect.

Well, its the sort of attitude that would have you up on a disciplinary in most junior or middle level professional role in Scotland.

So to me, its saying (a) that she considers herself a bit above the democratic process and particularly the concept of transparency when applied to her and (b) in general she has a bit of an arrogant, grandiose personality. Thats a trait generally criticised in modern political leaders, so quite why it indoctrinates such a worshipful attitude from SNP supporters I think says a lot about their desire to follow someone who appears to give them a clear and simple message that they can understand.
