Sons first birthday end of April, AIBU to think there may be a chance we could have a family get together in our garden?

YABU - absolutely no chance!
YANBU - possibly?

I would think there's a chance.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/02/2021 10:52

How many people?

ClaudiaWankleman · 16/02/2021 10:52

I think there's quite a good chance actually

JenIsAGem · 16/02/2021 10:54

@ineedaholidaynow

How many people?
Around 20-30 people in a medium/large garden Our household is 7 people including DS

I think it may still be the rule of 6 in April.

TitusPullo · 16/02/2021 10:55

I think there is a good chance (weather permitting) but not as big as you’ve suggested.

ineedaholidaynow · 16/02/2021 10:57

Think that will be too many

AramintaLee · 16/02/2021 10:57

It will be a rule of 6 situation for a while I expect (at least until a much larger % of the population is vaccinated) and quite right.

korawick12345 · 16/02/2021 10:58

I think it's unlikely. Why not wait. Let's face it, it isn't a party for your 1 year old as they will have no idea what's going on. Even if it is 'allowed' why would you want to increase risks for the 20-30 people you are closest too?

JemimaTiggywinkle · 16/02/2021 10:59

Might be a chance for 6 people or 2 households or something like that... but I don’t think any more than that, sorry.

MyDcAreMarvel · 16/02/2021 10:59

No definitely not and why would you even want to put people at risk for a one year old that won’t even benefit from it.

JosephineBaker · 16/02/2021 11:00

A rule of 6 or 2 households, very possibly.

20-30? Not unless we want a rerun of January.

ChocOrange1 · 16/02/2021 11:01

@MyDcAreMarvel

No definitely not and why would you even want to put people at risk for a one year old that won’t even benefit from it.
Because the other people would also benefit from it. My family are desperate to.see my almost 1 yo

OP I think we my be up to rule of six, or two households if we are lucky. I doubt they will allow large gatherings so early except perhaps weddings and funerals.

MadeOfStarStuff · 16/02/2021 11:01

YABU

I think numbers at private gatherings will still be limited

Millions of people haven’t been able to celebrate milestones for almost a year, you’re no different. Thank goodness your child is a baby so don’t know or care

emilyfrost · 16/02/2021 11:02

YABU. If it is allowed, it will be the rule of 6 - there’s no way you’ll be able to have anywhere near that many people.

IloveFebruary · 16/02/2021 11:03

Around 20-30 people = no chance
Rule of 6 or 2 households = more likely
Up to 15 = a chance

ClaudiaWankleman · 16/02/2021 11:03

Even if it is 'allowed' why would you want to increase risks for the 20-30 people you are closest too?

If it's allowed, OP won't be increasing the risks for 20-30 people. I'm sure a number of family members will be vaccinated and for any that aren't, they will be increasing their risk if they choose to attend. OP won't be to blame - her family members also have agency.

TippledPink · 16/02/2021 11:04

I agree, rule of 6 is likely to be in force. I am doubtful of my wedding going ahead in October for 40 people, let alone 20-30 people in April!

Mammaaof · 16/02/2021 11:04

No rule of 6 will be in place

BlusteryLake · 16/02/2021 11:06

I'd say you'll be able to have some sort of outdoor gathering but maybe not as many as you would like. You could always do two on separate days I suppose?

GiveMyRegardsToYourLizard · 16/02/2021 11:09

YANBU a garden gathering might be possible.

YABU 20-30 never gonna happen

nancywhitehead · 16/02/2021 11:12

They'll probably have rule of 6 or something like it. I don't think 20-30 people will be allowed to meet outdoors until at least much later in the Summer/ Autumn, if at all this year

Meowthress · 16/02/2021 11:14

I'd guess 6 people/2 households.

LividLoving · 16/02/2021 11:14

I’m desperate for something for my baby’s end of March first birthday.

Our families have missed his entire first year.

TeapotCollection · 16/02/2021 11:15

Another vote for definitely possible but very doubtful for that many people
