Struggling to find a wall colour to go with these cream kitchen cupboards.

My kitchen walls are being painted soon and, despite a dozen sample pots, I haven't found a wall colour that works with my cream cupboards. Any suggestions?

(I've deliberately not included the worktops in the picture. If I can get some colour options that work with the units, I can select the one that works best with the worktops myself).

While you've got white woodwork and ceiling any colour is going to be the third in a small space plus the colour of the worktop and floor especially if different. Tbh it's why I don't like cream units, but that's not very helpful. Have you tried something like pigeon or mizzle?

stodgystollen · 14/02/2021 10:38

They're both a cottagey colour and design, so maybe use that as a starting point. Dusty rose, camel/caramel beiges, pale blue, grey-navy, olive, sage.

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 14/02/2021 10:38

I would go for a dark blue.

Ilikewinter · 14/02/2021 10:40

What about a sage or olive green?

StillCoughingandLaughing · 14/02/2021 10:40

Baby blue.

WaltzForDebbie · 14/02/2021 10:40

You could find the closest F&B colour and see what is suggested on their website. Colours with a warm undertone would probably work best with cream.

GuyFawkesDay · 14/02/2021 10:40

Sage green or maybe navy blue

sunflowersandbuttercups · 14/02/2021 10:41

Duck egg blue. Or a really deep turquoise-type blue.

Hankunamatata · 14/02/2021 10:42

Sage green

Soontobe60 · 14/02/2021 10:43

We’ve got cream cupboards and have stone paint on the walls.

Think I'd go with duck egg.

Crazycatstory · 14/02/2021 10:46

Dulux natural hessian. Works with lots of colours. A friend who is a property developer suggested it to us.
Otherwise a pale sage green maybe.

WaltzForDebbie · 14/02/2021 10:48

If you like green then Acorn by little Greene is a lovely light green with a warm undertone. Rusling is also lovely. It's a very light soft warm pink. It's very subtly and doesn't obviously look pink.

StopMakingATitOfUrselfNPissOff · 14/02/2021 11:06

Dulux crispy crumble

It’s a taupe/mushroom colour

PurpleFlower1983 · 14/02/2021 11:14

I would go with an olive green.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 14/02/2021 11:18

My kitchen is a very deep teal, it has pale cupboards and oak worktop

This is what I have in my kitchen - off white units and white paintwork. Blends very well
AuntyMabelandPippin · 14/02/2021 11:28

My pal has sage green, it looks lovely.

Kochicoo · 14/02/2021 11:32

White

forinborin · 14/02/2021 11:35

Violet

Stickytreacle · 14/02/2021 11:37

I'd go with a sky blue or something like dulux mossy stone/overtly olive.

mootymoo · 14/02/2021 11:39

I would go for green, greyish green that is, or airforce blue

ItsDinah · 14/02/2021 11:47

Have you tried the Dulux website's Visualiser App? I think it's a question of getting exactly the right shade and tone of paint. It's not just what goes with the cabinets but what goes with them in the light and space in your kitchen. I can see what the painter was aiming at with the grey but think it's too dark. IME kitchens tend not to have the best natural light and can wind up looking cold/depressing while large expanses of strong colours can become oppressive. I'd be tempted to find a colour that matched the cabinets and save anything else for accent colours. What colour is the flooring?
