Struggling to find a wall colour to go with these cream kitchen cupboards.

My kitchen walls are being painted soon and, despite a dozen sample pots, I haven't found a wall colour that works with my cream cupboards. Any suggestions?

(I've deliberately not included the worktops in the picture. If I can get some colour options that work with the units, I can select the one that works best with the worktops myself).

When I had cream cupboards I used Aztec colours. Worked very well.

Sagey green looks nice with cream

Dulux stonewashed or blissful blue - it needs a blue but a slighty greeny blue - you would need to test samples - colours always vary with how much light is in the room.

Wow! I want your kitchen! I love the units. If you have plenty of light coming in, how about painting the walls black?! Add some striking green plants, maybe a picture or two.

Pale coral?

We have similar colour units (nowhere near as nice!) And they look great with Little Greene Ambleside walls and wooden worktops. It is a green that sits somewhere between dark sage and olive, and looks totally different in different lighting which is lovely.

Fired Earth Old Ochre.

Cream goes with practically anything; just choose a colour you like for itself.

A darkish / olive green would look lovely. Or turquoise.

Sage green. Don't choose something too dark.

Use one of the visualiser apps to try out a few different colours ? I think there’s a Dulux and a crown one .

We have same coloured kitchen and found we really struggled to pick a colour for some reason... We went with dulux willow tree in the end... Went down to see relative few months later.. Same colour kitchen and same paint choice.. Despite never seeing ours!

We had loads of natural hessian in our old house.. Its lovely... I just wanted more colour

Olive can go really well... I just don't like that type of colour

Sage green

I have duck egg with my glossy cream units, and very dark brown worktops.

The problem with that cream is that it's very yellowy rather than more on the ivory end of cream. For that reason I would avoid blues (unless they have a lot of green in them) and blueish greys.

My cream kitchen has been a light green and I've kind if gone cottage style but last year I wanted a change and went for baby blue and have a very very subtle retro 1960s look.
Have you looked on Pinterest for inspiration?

We've got very similar cupboards and we've just painted the kitchen in Dulux Mint Macaroon. It's pretty much a duck egg blue and looks lovely.
Before that it was a very pale lime green and that looked nice too.

Pretty much anything would go with it. What are your tiles/worktops/floors like? What kind of colours do you like? How light is the kitchen?

We went for a sunshine yellow. Our kitchen is big but thick walls and small windows, so needed a lot of light/warmth.

Duck egg blue

Teal, duck egg blue, rose, raspberry pink.

I have similar kitchen to you OP and have Dulux Buttermilk matt on the walls. It is warm in winter and bright in summer. Washes down well also. Everyone admires it. I have warm wood worktops.

I use pictures and accessories ( kettle, toasters etc) to add colour.

Why not look at natural combinations you find in food or fauna?

I'm thinking of clotted cream scones - so a raspberry jam pink you've done it right by having the cream first or a sage green/scone/tea?

My cupboards are that colour and the walls are currently duck egg.
I'm having the decorator soon and going for a sunny yellow.
My utility room has cream cupboards and pale pink walls.

Those apps are hopeless. Buy a few pots of samples and do some big splodges on all the walls in light and dark corners.

I've got cupboards like yours, OP. I haven't painted the kitchen yet, but I tried lots of testers, and I'm going to go with Farrow and Ball Old White. It's a grey-green:
