Dermot O'Leary bad This Morning co-host choice...

...Full disclosure I am grumpy (PMT) and in lockdown alone so daytime TV is my only entertainment so this might sound mean as I'm sure he's a lovely man, but AIBU to think he's too dull to be paired with the amazing Alison Hammond and it doesn't work? She needs someone to bounce off. Its like they went with someone super safe to balance out giving Alison the job as she's so loud and a bit of a loose cannon (which I love) but there's a disconnect/lack of chemistry between the two. I find it quite awkward to watch them.

Such things are bugging me more than usual as I am immensely bored in lockdown before anyone points out there are worse things to worry about (I am aware!)

He is just so self indulgent and that makes him dull.

Ive started watching this morning the last couple of weeks after not seeing it for years. Agree I really like Alison Hammond. I always think when the music plays and she’s dancing before and after ad breaks she looks really natural and Dermot just looks faintly embarrassed and like he doesn’t know where to put himself.

I’d like to see Alison host with Gok.

Can't stand Eamonn & Ruth, especially Eamonn, he just looks bored the whole time.
Love Alison Hammond, and I've got nothing against Dermot but he seems a bit bland.

Holly's birthday show was just dreadful. I am wondering if the whole This Morning show needs a huge shake up.

Only used to watch if I was off on a Friday, don't even do that now.

This thread highlights one thing for me.... just how many people don't know how to spell Eamonn and don't bother to check

I'm not a Dermot fan really. I'm sure he's a nice chap but he lacks one thing that Holly, Phil, Alison, Ruth and Eamonn have ... and that's a certain 'something.' Love them or hate them, they all have either an X Factor or the skill set to properly carry the programme.

I do like Alison but haven't seen her on with Dermot.

I'd rather watch paint dry while being slowly decapitated with a rusty spoon, than sit through a morning with Holly and Phil.

He was ok last week, I thought they worked well together, but he was dreadful today when I watched the last half hour.

I liked Ben Shepard and Mollie King when they presented it together once! I really can’t stand Philip Schofield, he gives off such a nasty vibe. No warmth there.

I really don’t get the fuss of Dermot. Years and years ago when he did the younger audience stuff he was ok, he was still sort of alright in the very early pop idol / xfactor days - like 15 years ago but I find him incredibly fake and insincere now. He has this air of only being there for the pay check, there’s no real passion or enjoyment or enthusiasm for his work and he comes across to me like he thinks it’s all a bit beneath him.

I wouldn’t watch him, I do love Alison. She seems genuine and bloody happy to do the job she does.

Ruth and Eamonn! I missed them off.

I haven’t watched Dermot & Alison together but I would have thought they won’t gel. I don’t know exactly what it is but I can’t be doing with Alison. I’ve always liked Dermot - can’t pick up the false vibes at all. He does talk a bit too much on his radio show.

I only ever had This Morning on in the background but flatly refused to watch it at all after the way they dumped Eamonn and Ruth. (Plus I cant abide Philip Schofield 🤮. He's creepily on everything bar stamps these days. 🙄)

I've only seen Phillip Schofield on This Morning and DOI. What have I missed? I've not seen his We Buy any Car ads lately.

I caught 5 minutes of the Will i am interview.. it felt very stilted. Not very professional and they didn't look right together. He did a Tom Jones impression , she made a joke about the accent he appeared offended.

This based litterally on 5 minutes Tv so not sure that qualifies as a valid opinion.

I miss Eamonn and Ruth - I think they're quite down to earth and homely. I find Dermot very serious and boring. Alison, she's ok but could take or leave her. Tbh I don't bother tuning in on Fridays now they booted off Eamonn and Ruth for no good reason.

Haven’t watched him on This Morning, but have met him socially and through work in the past, and he is really lovely. Very friendly and funny and generally nice.

I also miss Eamon and Ruth. Haven't watcged it since they left.

Another one for missing Eamon and Ruth, they’re just so natural and likeable, not watched really since they’ve been gone.
Really dislike P&H so never watch during the weekdays. Like Dermot though and can’t see him being a horrible guy 🤷🏻‍♀️but I don’t think they’re right for it. Will be watching all next week if E&R are back on 💓

Agree, ann diamond is fab. She can just naturally carry a show like this in the same way Eamonn holmes can. I always feel awkward watching Dermot as he comes across as awkward!

@seashells11 Check out Jeremy Vine on channel 5 next week. I can't promise anything but Anne Diamond often covers for him during the school holidays!! She's often a guest on there too.

I haven't watched Dermot on it but I always thought he seemed really aloof on other programmes, like he doesn't actually want to be there. I don't remember ever seeing him laugh or smile
