Roussette

The comments on CNN are on point.

minou123 · 12/02/2021 19:00

I'm going to plagiarise this tweet:

Danielle Campoamor

Whataboutism.
Cancel culture.
Antifa.
Mispronouncing Black women's names on purpose.
Attack the press.
Gaslight the nation.
Misspell some stuff.

There. I am now qualified to be a Trump lawyer.

Greg Sargent @ThePlumbLineGS

Pretty sure the only reason the lawyers played such an extensive video of Trump is that they know it'll make Trump happy.

Roussette · 12/02/2021 19:04

Breaking. Source close to House Managers tells
@NicolleDWallace
: "Every piece of evidence, including new videos, were given to the defense team before the trial. They could have played them. He lied when he said they never saw them. That was part of the rules we voted on."

Lisa Desjardins @LisaDNews

Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wisc., to me after the Trump presentation now: “the president’s lawyers (Trump) blew the House manager’s case out of the water” “eviscerated it”.

—->”If I were the president’s lawyers, I’d just rest the case right now”

Roussette · 12/02/2021 19:16

Just 3 GOP seats empty for today.... funny that....

New on @MSNBC: Ted Cruz visited the Trump defense team's room during the Senate break.

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2021 19:36

CASTOR is up. he says he is leading the impeachment defense team.

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2021 19:39

Bruce Castor says another hour left in Trump team presentation and they’re “almost done”

TheSilveryPussycat · 12/02/2021 19:39

He seems to be saying that an insurrection is only an insurrection if it succeeds Hmm

ListeningQuietly · 12/02/2021 19:41

I need to speak to my AgedP in NY but know that they will be angry
think I'll chicken out and wait for the vote

PseudoBadger · 12/02/2021 19:41

@ListeningQuietly I just read this:

"Champ is looking very old and arthritic
but Major is just gorgeous"

And really thought you were using code names for the Bidens 😂

PerkingFaintly · 12/02/2021 19:42

Trumpies cope with the fact that humans aren't born with wings by simply stating they can fly, and jumping off 20-floor buildings.

Unfortunately, they encourage other people to jump too, and carry on shouting that it's all going fine... for the first 19 floors.

ListeningQuietly · 12/02/2021 19:45

Pseudo
They got Champ when Joe became VP
he is 14 and (as Joe said in the video) Major was to gee him up and help them out
but DC winters are tough on dogs

I just loved how NORMAL they were
with each other
with the dogs
with the press

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2021 19:46

Trump's "real supporters know" he is pro-police and anti-mob, Castor says.

Disassociating his client from the mob who carried flags and wore clothes bearing his client's name is another manner of gaslighting.

Lweji · 12/02/2021 19:47

Covid's missed opportunity.

The orange one was reportedly worse than he wanted people to realise. Not surprising.

Roussette · 12/02/2021 19:50

I want the defence to address WHY he didn't ask the crowds to pull back and stop.

Surely that is key?

Any normal POTUS would've done that.

FridayNightAtTheBronze · 12/02/2021 19:53

I was wondering if someone could answer this for me please.....

Is this impeachment based solely on Trump's speech on the 6th?

His defence are arguing that the attack was planned prior to the speech, therefore the speech had nothing to do with it.

Does the charge of incitement not also encompass all his tweets and speeches since he lost the election?

It wasn't just one speech that led to the attack, it was months of Trump riling up his base, the speech on the 6th just lit the match.

BruceAndNosh · 12/02/2021 19:56

I started watching live but there is only so many times I can shout Bollocks at the tv (including when he said 75 million voted NO THEY DIDN'T)

BruceAndNosh · 12/02/2021 19:57

That was part of yesterday's closing arguments
Roussette · 12/02/2021 20:00

I have something profound to say - excuse me Wine talking

This man is attacking the messenger

Not the message.

He says it's all false, and the Dems are making everything up. 'Trump called for calm and told everyone to go home in love and peace'
Bollocks

OP posts:
DuncinToffee · 12/02/2021 20:02

Castor notes Trump's 2:38 tweet about supporting the police and staying peaceful. Castor does not mention Trump's 2:24 tweet castigating Pence, which protestors at the Capitol then read over a bullhorn, riling up the crowd.

FridayNightAtTheBronze · 12/02/2021 20:02

"I don't know if we are under oath here."

Er....shouldn't you know?

ListeningQuietly · 12/02/2021 20:03

Rousette
Indeed.
I've spent most of the day redrafting legislative guidance
party animal me
and its the underlying message that matters
not who is saying it.

BUT
US senators have been in hoc to Primary nutters for decades
and the UK is heading the same way (sadly) thanks Momentum

DuncinToffee · 12/02/2021 20:08

Trump defense says the attack was planned, therefore could not have been incited by the speech. But the impeachment managers made the same point, raising much of the same evidence of preplanning, to argue Trump’s pre 1/6 behavior had lit the fuse among supporters.
