Senators now voting on calling witnesses.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:22

Roll call vote. I predict a tie with Kamala being called in to break it.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:23

I can't tell if they have a full chamber or not. Can anyone tell?

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2021 15:24

Kyle Griffin @KyleGriffin1

Trump defense very upset that senators are laughing at him when he tells the chamber he would want witnesses deposed at his office in Philadelphia.

It seems the Trump defense does not want Rep. Herrera Beutler to be subpoenaed.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:24

MSNBC reporting Romney had stated he was willing to vote for witnesses.

Did Leahy just vote NO???

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:25

Romney voted AYE

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:27

And Collins and Murkowski

NotaRealLawyer · 13/02/2021 15:27

Across I thought Leahy said No. It's hard to tell who is in the Chamber.

Roussette · 13/02/2021 15:28

I don't know Leahy, thought he was a Democrat, but he did vote no, Across??

OP posts:
NotaRealLawyer · 13/02/2021 15:28

Leahy said Yes, correction,

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2021 15:29

4 Senate Republicans have voted with Democrats to allow witnesses:
Collins
Murkowski
Sasse
Romney

ListeningQuietly · 13/02/2021 15:31

Graham just changed his vote

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:31

Graham just changed his vote?

I have the 'original' total as 53 'aye' and 47 'no'. With Graham, that would be 54/46

NotaRealLawyer · 13/02/2021 15:31

I'm lost. Sorry all. Totally confused now.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:32

@ListeningQuietly

I wasn't sure if I'd heard right! I am extremely surprised.

ListeningQuietly · 13/02/2021 15:33

WHY did Graham change his vote
a he is high up the alphabet.

FridayNightAtTheBronze · 13/02/2021 15:34

Is that Lindsey Graham who just changed his vote?

DuncinToffee · 13/02/2021 15:34

Sen. Lindsey Graham changes his Senate impeachment trial witness vote to "aye." South Carolina Republican has said he'll attempt to call House Speaker Nancy Pelosi as a witness of pre-Jan. 6 Capitol security preparations.

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:35

@NotaRealLawyer

I'd heard the same. A 'no' from Leahy. But during the announcement of the count he was shown as an 'aye' so I must have misheard.

As far as where we are, CNN just said that 5 GOP said 'aye'. And Leahy just confirmed count of 55/45.

minou123 · 13/02/2021 15:35

I think Graham changed his vote to aye.

But its all going mental with the point if order.

What in the bame of Jimney Cricket is going on?

ListeningQuietly · 13/02/2021 15:36

Leahy is in the chair so presumably his vote was called not in the normal order

Roussette · 13/02/2021 15:36

Bet you Graham changed his vote to allow this to drag on and on until people are sick of it.

I dont understand how Senators are allowed to go up to Trump's lawyer Van der Veen and sound off about stuff. Rand Paul has. I recognised him because he refuses to wear a mask.
Is this normal? (not the mask wearing... the addressing the lawyer mid hearing)

AcrossthePond55 · 13/02/2021 15:37

Ah, I get it. Graham's vote change I suppose is to 'help' Doofus by calling witnesses they think will hurt the prosecution case.

Silly gesture unless he wants Brownie points. There were already enough votes to carry the motion
