To quite like my baby's farts?

I know this sounds gross but the smells my baby makes never seen that unpleasant to me. I quite like them if I'm honest.

Is this a mother thing? Does it change?

I think it sounds gross to like anyone’s farts but I’m not a mum yet so who knows. I do think it’s an odd thing to share and probably best kept to yourself though.

L3ni7a · 10/02/2021 16:36

Not sure I liked my babies farts, but I don't mind the smell of my girls at all.... and they're 9 and 16.

I think it's a built in mother thing! 😆

Theunamedcat · 10/02/2021 16:37

One of my kids used to smell like a really good meat pie it was relatively inoffensive and occasionally made my stomach rumble then he started solids FUCK ME THE STENCH

AryaStarkWolf · 10/02/2021 16:37

umm

To quite like my baby's farts?
zizzii · 10/02/2021 16:37
Hmm
AIMD · 10/02/2021 16:38

Is you baby young??

With both of mine I didn’t mind the smell of their poo while they were breastfed only. I wouldn’t say I liked it but it wasn’t at all offensive to me and it was really recognisable to me in relation to other babies poo.

Weird

Whyistheteacold · 10/02/2021 16:39

🙄😂 My DDs poo smells of spaghetti bolagnaise for some reason. Its put me off mince

L3ni7a · 10/02/2021 16:40

My girls breastfed poo smelt like flapjacks.

After they started solids it was horrific 😆

yahyahs22 · 10/02/2021 16:40

I did when he was a newborn.. not anymore!

ShirleyPhallus · 10/02/2021 16:40

Tiny baby poo smells quite sweet and I didn’t mind it

Then she started solids and oh my god the smell is gross. It’s like proper adult poo.

Did not sign up for this.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 10/02/2021 16:40

Ugh I’ll have to hide the thread... making me feel ill!

TardisThroughTime · 10/02/2021 16:40

Hahahhahahahahaah

Livedandlearned · 10/02/2021 16:41

Does it change?

No, all parents love the smell of their kids farts, even to adulthood

Ihatesandwiches · 10/02/2021 16:42

There was a programme on TV years ago. Can't remember the name. One episode they had a group of mums and a table with unidentified dirty nappies. Each mum was able to identify her own baby's nappy! I think the ability to sniff out and not be repulsed is a maternal survival instinct!

Cherrysherbet · 10/02/2021 16:43

I used to like the smell of my babies poo’s! If I changed my friends babies nappy’s I wanted to puke!

I think it’s a mum thing.

Ilovemypyjamas · 10/02/2021 16:43

I think it's a mother thing..... when my babies were tiny their poos and farts smelled like cakes baking! Agree with the flapjack smell. It's ruined when they start eating solids though..... Grin

roarfeckingroarr · 10/02/2021 16:46

Ah yeah he's 16 weeks and EBF. Will this change when there are solids?

OP posts:
KnobblyWand · 10/02/2021 16:48

Yeah it'll be revolting once he's eating. Usually start them on root vegetables as well, doesn't help Grin

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 16:52

It definitely changes when they start solids. I think its a survival think as I don't think I could stomach anyone changing their baby now mine are older, but we often did in front of each other at groups etc when young!

There was a really bizarre thread recently where everyone said how nice their dogs smelt - and what sweet smelling paws/fur they had. I think that's nuts. People who have dogs have houses that smell of "dog" and I really dont like the smell close up. I'm sure if it was my own dog though I would think they were lovely...

I often wonder whatelse we are convinced about. I sometimes worry if I smell those that live with me wouldn't know...

KatyClaire · 10/02/2021 16:54

I certainly don’t mind the smell of my 10 week old BF baby’s. It’s sweet and fairly inoffensive. I doubt that will last beyond weaning Grin

AIMD · 10/02/2021 16:54

Yes it will!
peaceanddove · 10/02/2021 16:57

My babies are 16 & 17, but I still adore how they smell, even if they might need a shower. I think it's a very primeval thing.

Dreamylemon · 10/02/2021 16:58

Breastfed baby poop smelt like yoghurt to me, not unpleasant. When they start solids it becomes less pleasant.

notdaddycool · 10/02/2021 17:02

Our toddler's arse smells like there's a rotten rat up there, things might change.

Emeraldshamrock · 10/02/2021 17:03

Kids and their farts.. people can only tolerate their own.
I remember an experiment 5 mams and 5 dirty nappies who owned who, every mother picked the correct nappy with their DC poo.
