To quite like my baby's farts?

I know this sounds gross but the smells my baby makes never seen that unpleasant to me. I quite like them if I'm honest.

Is this a mother thing? Does it change?

@Dreamylemon

Breastfed baby poop smelt like yoghurt to me, not unpleasant. When they start solids it becomes less pleasant.
Yes! It smells like yoghurt! I don't actually like yoghurt but the smell is ok.

My DD almost died aged 5 of intussusception, where the intestines telescope and cause a blockage. Its very rare past babyhood and therefore wasn't picked up for 3 days. One symptom was a complete inability to fart (or poo). She swelled up and looked pregnant by the time they operated. So now she is much much bigger and I still thank my lucky stars every time I hear her fart as I know her intestines are still working :)

Is this part of that special love that we childfree women will just never experience? I'm way more than ok with that.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 10/02/2021 17:10

Never minded DDs until she started solids, she's now 14 months and they absolutely stink

Boak

Mylittlesandwich · 10/02/2021 17:19

Even formula fed baby poop doesn't smell that bad. As soon as he started on solids that all changed. He's 14 months now and sometimes it is absolutely revolting.

Topseyt · 10/02/2021 17:21

It will change once they are eating solids.

I didn't mind my own babies' farts and poo, but those of other people's children were harder to deal with.

I've always loved how young babies are so wonderfully uninhibited. They will just pop it out anywhere and are equally happy to let fly an absolute rasper of a fart. Publicly.

Happycat1212 · 10/02/2021 17:22

No it’s not a “mum thing” I’ve had to kick my 8 year old out the room when he farts as they stink so bad, you think all mums love their kids farts? So bizarre

Awww this is so sweet!
TinyCake · 10/02/2021 17:24

Yes it will all change when eating solids.

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 10/02/2021 17:24

Not sure about farts but the smell of baby poo pre-weaning... I love it. Blush

linerforlife · 10/02/2021 17:25

I liked the smell of newborn poo. It does change once they start solids. I was thinking today actually that 8 month old DD's poo smells like mine Blush and not at all like DHs!!! Which I guess is because she has my gut bacteria?? I was wondering if this will change as she gets older. But yeah... definitely a mum thing Grin

YukoandHiro · 10/02/2021 17:25

Yes it will change with solids. Sorry. The more meat they eat the more horrific it gets. Enjoy the sweet baby poo while you can...

littlepeas · 10/02/2021 17:28

Breastmilk poo smells fine. It does change when they start solids. My dh once gave ds 3 kiwi fruits in one sitting - that did not result in a fun poo.

TroyTown · 10/02/2021 17:33

You won’t feel like that when they’re 28. Trust me.

Nonamesavail · 10/02/2021 17:34

I used to love them! They just were unique to my babies lol

LizBennet · 10/02/2021 17:35

Watch out for the blueberry poo, they turn it green 😷

Sparklesocks · 10/02/2021 17:36

Knotmyname · 10/02/2021 17:38

When mine was exclusively breastfed his farts smelled sweet, always thought it was funny when he'd lie farting in his moses basket and it smelled like a cross between honey and milk. 😂
Then he started solids and it all went downhill from there. 🤣

Sheleg · 10/02/2021 17:38

I secretly love the smell of my baby's poo and farts Blush

Maybe because she's breast fed so it smells of "me" somehow?

Iampicklerick · 10/02/2021 17:39

I love the smell of their bad breath in the morning. Reminds me that my body made something that has its own breath Grin

SpikeDearheart · 10/02/2021 17:47

I find my 1 year old's farts pretty hilarious. It's the way he's so carefree about them Grin

How on earth have you read the question Is this part of that special love that we childfree women will just never experience? and turned it into you think all mums love their kids farts? So bizarre?
Happycat1212 · 10/02/2021 18:39

What the heck are you talking about, I was posting my comment about the op asking if it would ever change 🙄 not sure what you are referring to

Is this a mother thing? Does it change?

Literally in the op.
