AIBU to be sad about the wrong cake

My husband just brought back cake for us all from the cafe. Chocolate for him and one child; sponge for the other child; bakewell for me. I hate bakewell.

In his defence, he knew one of us liked it - the child with sponge cake who does like bakewell was already halfway through his slice.

We've been together nearly 20 years and he doesnt know that I would never choose that!

So AIBU to be feeling down over something so trivial?

My Mother chose the menu for my wedding reception (I was in another country until a few days beforehand and wasn't all the fussed anyway and only asked that the dessert wasn't flambéd as there had been a previous toupee-in-flames incident at the venue). She chose cream of tomato soup for the starter. She asked me why I wasn't eating it when it was my favourite soup. It's my brother's favourite soup, I can't stand it. Grin

It's almost my 30th wedding anniversary, I can't believe that I still remember the soup.

I hate Bakewell or almond anything actually. I'd be miffed too.

Oh YANBU at all!

I’d be a bit upset too. That awful Bakewell/marzipan/fake almondy flavour is such a Marmite thing. I have a genuine aversion to it.

It’s not even like something a bit dull that you could eat if you were hungry enough.

How can he honestly not realise you don’t like it after all these years?

As an aside, warmed up Bakewell with custard is heaven. Make him go back or , do swapsies. And next time he's on a cake mission, a list of acceptable choices. You shouldn't have to: but that level of rubbishness sounds general & longstanding....I'd be feeling a just a bit murderous .

Unforgivable. This is why I do the cake buying in our house. DH has very poor taste when it comes to puddings.

Now that's a whole different thread in itself Grin
