I'm dangerously bored.

OP posts:

@billiondollarwhale

Before I had my child I worked in Mayfair and previously in The City. We sometimes had boujolais breakfasts! Shock horror
I remember those! Also long "relaxing" lunches with the company Board over Taittinger! 🍾 🥂
murasaki · 05/02/2021 16:41

I have a glass of pinot while still working. I've not taken a lunch break today due to meetings, so it is well earned. Horror of horrors, I also have a cigarette on the go.

I am still perfectly capable of amending a report while cross checking its validation. A dull task that I have deliberately left until now.

AliceMadHatter · 05/02/2021 16:41

OP is having a gin not snorting coke off her child's lego box.

I hope you enjoyed it.

handsforfeet · 05/02/2021 16:41

Anyone else got a huge craving to have long boozy business lunches in beautiful business attire?!

(Disclaimer - I have no idea what that actually looks like as I've always worked in polyester in the public sector but in my head it's mad men-esque and extraordinarily sexy).

mootymoo · 05/02/2021 16:42

I'm clock watching for 5pm, but the music went on hours ago despite it being a work day for dp who is conspicuous by his lack of working today (but he's the boss)

Kab30 · 05/02/2021 16:43

I'm sure this was supposed to be funny .....I text all my pals asking if its beer oclock? Sometimes even at 8am lol ..Like I was once quoted 'it's always beer o'clock somewhere in the world'......Enjoy xxx

Marinaloves · 05/02/2021 16:44

I fucking love snorting coke off the Lego box
Smooth so smooth

Marinaloves · 05/02/2021 16:45

I’m so desperate for a 3 bottle business lunch
I miss them.

mootymoo · 05/02/2021 16:48

@billiondollarwhale

I worked in advertising where it was normal to have a liquid lunch most days Confused or perhaps a sandwich with those two glasses of wine, what's worse was come 5.30 it was back in the pub and the only food wood be trays of cheesy chips washed down with more wine. Goodness knows how I functioned. Thankfully I got out of the industry in my mid 20's

mootymoo · 05/02/2021 16:50

@handsforfeet

Yes, my business suits still hang in my parents house, sadly I'm several inches larger than then!

Thinking might need to change career. Been in non profit for 20 years now

polkadotpjs · 05/02/2021 16:54

I've been at hospital while som had surgery today. I want wine NOW but not got any - will be off to shop once DH home and will have some.
I miss afternoon drinking - these days I'd be in bed by 10 but rather that than later nights for me these days

superram · 05/02/2021 16:56

Gin at 16.42 after dry January. Drinking everyday isn’t good. I don’t have a huge problem with you drinking while playing (every little helps when you are making Lego for the eleventh billionth time) as long as your child doesn’t know and you don’t get drunk until after they go to bed. I’m cutting down my drinking as I want to lose weight. Be honest with yourself if a problem or not but don’t let mn judge.

catonmylapcantmove · 05/02/2021 16:59

I’m not sure why one gin is an issue ... in fact I’m going to pour one and raise a toast to your excellent decision making

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/02/2021 17:00

I got home from work at 4pm and opened a bottle of prosecco. DS at his dad's this weekend so no guilt.

Kittykat93 · 05/02/2021 17:04

I think 2.30 maybe a little early for sitting in child's bedroom drinking gin but I do and have had a drink whilst in charge of the kids, normally about 5.30 if I pour a glass of wine or whatever

HotCupOfNo · 05/02/2021 17:05

@AliceMadHatter BAHAHAHAHA

Pinksmyfavoritecolour · 05/02/2021 17:06

I just tried to open a bottle of wine and the corkscrew has snapped in the cork, I’ve tried everything to get it out, waiting for husband to get home to try to solve the dilemma. And no it’s not too early, it’s Friday so bugger it x

God those were the days.

Work your arse off at month end and the following week, go out for an early lunch and just not go back and nobody cared because it all balanced out.

Gil55 · 05/02/2021 17:08

Ha ha these posts have all made me laugh out loud. Kudos to you if you managed to hold off having a wee swally (as we say in Scotland) until teatime but see if you haven't and you're already knee deep in gin or whatever your poison is - enjoy it. It's Friday and if you've also been homeschooling all week - you've bloody earned it! Now, I'm away to crack open the Prosecco. Cheers gals!

There's a way to do it with a trainer you tube it 😀
Dogonahottinroof · 05/02/2021 17:13

The drink police will arrive shortly.

  1. Giving birth means that you can never drink again
  2. All people who drink are overweight
  3. They are doing vegnaury, movember, dry January, stick an onion up your arse and never drink again March
  4. They know the sister of the mother of the daughter of a friend of someone who drinks too much (not them as they are perfect)
WalkingOnStarshine · 05/02/2021 17:13

All I thought about all day while working and dealing with my toddler was the bottle of wine I'm cracking open this evening. I have to nip out so haven't started yet unfortunately. As for drinking around kids, I feel it makes me a better parent when I'm more relaxed after a big glass of something! Hope that gin is open op!

WeAreTryingToHaveATeamsCall · 05/02/2021 17:18

We did virtual "happy hour" at work at 4pm (our CEO sends us a bottle of our favourite wine/spirit every month for weekly happy hour) so I'm already several drinks deep!
