Call me nosey but at 25 I’d not quite got into the sector I’m in now and at 35, I’d already started on my career path. Went to university, had my kids afterwards, but was done by the time I was 30yrs old. I’ll start £19,000 and £30,000. I will admit that it has accelerated since. But more interested in those crucial child rearing years between 25-35.

25 - £25k no kids
35 - £35k, 2 kids
37 - £40k 2 kids

Unlikely to earn more due to limitations with my employer and banding

Lostinspace23 · 05/02/2021 21:00

They weren’t crucial child rearing years for me so worked full time throughout, although did move abroad for a year.
At 25: £26k
At 35: £65k.
Had a child at 37 and the biggest impact on earnings has been going down to 4 days a week but salary has really increased due to promotions, despite a years mat leave and now on £100k plus bonus and car allowance.

MiddleClassMother · 05/02/2021 21:13

25: nearly 80k plus bonuses
35: I'm not here yet but guessing I'll make 6 figures as I'm currently training for a role with more responsibilities.

Danny - solicitor. At 35 was salaried partner. Actually made more after mat leave but jacked it in at 39 for various reasons including stress, family bereavement and work/life balance with no job to go to ! Moved across country and went in house. Now public sector and FTE is about £63k. Am underpaid relative to my experience but much more interesting work with nicer people. Will probably get to a better paid role before I retire. Occasionally think about what I could have done with all that ££ had I stayed but would have been miserable.

IdblowJonSnow · 05/02/2021 21:37

12k and then 20k.
Now 0k. Blush

ZoChan · 05/02/2021 21:44

Self employed since 34. No idea what the next financial year will bring

Starseeking · 05/02/2021 21:50

I work in finance.

25 - £40k
35 - £80k

Beenaboutabit · 05/02/2021 21:51

At 25 £12k (in 1995)
At 35 £32k (2005)
That 32k is now 25% more but it hasn't kept up with inflation

RagzReturnsRebooted · 05/02/2021 21:55

25 nothing as my youngest was a baby, my last job before I had her was Body Shop at Home (not really a job!) where I mostly laot money...
35 (now) £15 an hour as a nurse in a GP surgery, plus currently overtime at £20 an hour as a vaccine nurse.

Nacreous · 05/02/2021 21:56

This is a really interesting thread, I'm not thirty five yet but it has really made me think - my salary has more than doubled in the last four be years, and if you count the pension contributions I get now it has tripled. Obviously I'm very lucky but my method of saving (just transfering money out as soon as I get paid) means I haven't really noticed the increases as I've increased my savings correspondingly. I was part time for 2 out of the last 5 years as well. Think I need to give myself more credit than I usually do!

RagzReturnsRebooted · 05/02/2021 21:56

That should say lost money!

MoominFeatures · 05/02/2021 22:06

Solicitor (regions).

As a 25yo paralegal (unqual): £21K.

Now, as a 35yo qualified lawyer: £90k.

But - tbf - no kids.

ItsNotAlrightButItsOkay · 05/02/2021 22:10

Not me but my DH. 25 - 35k
32 - 65k (currently awaiting a promotion)

Me ... I earn peanuts! Always have.

jannika · 05/02/2021 22:17

At 25- 14k
At 35 - 95k
I did a lot of training in that decade into a job that then enabled me to become self employed

LoveFoolMe · 05/02/2021 22:18

@LoveFoolMe

25 £0 (doing professional post-grad training) 35 £40k I think 45 £75k (after a significant promotion and on a 75% part time contract)

I had children at 36 and 39

Only Statutory Maternity Pay for each maternity leave but I obviously had savings by then.
