Call me nosey but at 25 I’d not quite got into the sector I’m in now and at 35, I’d already started on my career path. Went to university, had my kids afterwards, but was done by the time I was 30yrs old. I’ll start £19,000 and £30,000. I will admit that it has accelerated since. But more interested in those crucial child rearing years between 25-35.

@ChrissyCarol

I wish posters would all say what their line of work is as am looking for a change to increase my annual salary.
See if these inspire you ChrissyCarol www.fool.co.uk/mywallethero/your-life/learn/best-high-salary-careers-in-the-uk/ I don’t want to put my own job details on here (but I am in that top 10 list).

Had a baby this year so won’t put much effort into working my way up for a couple of years, but expect to be on around 48k when I’m 35.

huggzy · 05/02/2021 22:38

At 25 I was on maternity leave, so whatever maternity allowance was then- about £130 a week I think.

I'm now 33 and earn £6k per year.

PermanentTemporary · 05/02/2021 22:49

WelcomeBackAmelia · 05/02/2021 22:53

25, 22k
32, 100k

That involved a career change and a few relocations, as well as some sheer luck.

£25k

£38k

venusandmars · 05/02/2021 22:58

Started work age 16 annual income £1,600 (yes really and it seemed like a fortune at the time)

[period of massive inflation, so increase in income, was swamped]

Age 25 (pre-marriage, pre kids) annual income £11,750

Age 35 ( post-marriage, 2 kids) annual income £42,000+++

Age 45 annual income £95,000

Between 25 and 35, I found my work mojo, and a work niche that suited me. Having dc gave me confidence in who I was and what I could do.

Indoctro · 05/02/2021 22:58

35 zero as sahp
45, not there quite yet but hoping to be doing something I love and have retrained for 30k max.

hangryeyes · 06/02/2021 04:25

25, around 16k... had graduated for a few years and was struggling to find a career but this was one of my first career breaks and a step up from what I was earning before that. It wasn’t really enough to live on/be independent.

35, around £44k as I’d found a more lucrative industry... had a couple of pay rises/promotions since then so it has jumped some more.

I live in a small city, outside the SE/London, in case that makes a difference.

hangryeyes · 06/02/2021 04:29

@ChrissyCarol I found switching industry can impact your earning potential, eg marketing for a manufacturer vs marketing in a bank or technology business (I don’t work in marketing), if it’s more money you want look at what you do now and how the salaries differ for the same thing.
