Call me nosey but at 25 I’d not quite got into the sector I’m in now and at 35, I’d already started on my career path. Went to university, had my kids afterwards, but was done by the time I was 30yrs old. I’ll start £19,000 and £30,000. I will admit that it has accelerated since. But more interested in those crucial child rearing years between 25-35.

Did you change career / go part time? And can I ask what industry you were working in for the £110k?
Randomness12 · 05/02/2021 20:39

25 = 28k

DD born when I was 30, 1 year maternity, then returned 4 days a week so took a cut. Then changed sectors although similar role.

34 = 54k

My next step up should be this year and will be a big increase.

25 - £27k
35 - £75k, rising to c.£90k with bonuses.

Had three children in that time, mat leaves of 7, 9 and 10 months respectively. Never went part time and continued applying for promotions etc. - also lucky to have a supportive employer who didn't discriminate. That shouldn't be lucky, should be normal, but I'm very aware it's not.

So many of you on mega bucks! I’m in public services so I will probably never make more than about £50k in today’s money by the time I retire, and that’s if I get lucky. But that still feels like it would be loads!
