Aibu to cheat? Would you cheat ?

Bit of a moral dilemma here.
Tomorrow I have a final interview for a job I have wanted for years
Today they emailed and said due to technical issues the interview would be a phone interview again (I've already had a phone interview for this role, this was meant to be zoom)
So I'm thinking of writing some questions and answers out so I'm prepared and so I sound good.
My friend has said that's cheating and I should just treat it like I would a zoom.
What would you do?
I've been on glass door and wrote out and answered some interview questions apparently they ask.
Aibu to do this?
Is it actually cheating?

It’s not cheating-you could take notes into an actual interview with you! I’d do it.

BubblyBarbara · 02/02/2021 21:02

Nope this is called being prepared and taking initiative

1FootInTheRave · 02/02/2021 21:04

I absolutely would have notes.

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:04

That's how I looked at it.
I've spent 2 weeks now every night researching the company etc and I know I would be perfect for the role ..the problem with me is interview nerves.
With notes like this I feel so much better.

You would be unreasonable to cheat but I wouldn't consider this cheating

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:05

I have made notes on the company/products /where I want to work there, how my skills match the role.
Then examples of behaviour questions
Targets etc
I have wrote all the answers myself too,so it's not like I'm copying and pasting etc

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:05

*why I want to work there

That’s not cheating - that’s being prepared!

I’ve taken notes in to real life interviews - and had them on my desk in a recent zoom interview...and actually referred to them when I was reaching for answer!

Good luck with the interview!

FFSAllTheGoodOnesArereadyTaken · 02/02/2021 21:07

I thought this was going to be a 'should I shag the interviewer / HR manager' question.
Anyway preparing is not cheating. Unless you've obtained the questions in an underhand way. Like by shagging the interviewer

Twistered · 02/02/2021 21:07

That's not cheating. Your friend is being too righteous.
Good luck in your interview you sound like you definately have put a lot of work into prepping for it

Awkwardteeth · 02/02/2021 21:08

Definitely not cheating

2typesofjungle · 02/02/2021 21:10

Your friend is an idiot, that's not cheating!

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:11

The interview is meant to last a hour.
I hope it's slightly shorter ..I can't imagine how many questions they'll ask.

OP posts:
pinkandblueflowers · 02/02/2021 21:11

I hope it goes well u must keep us posted. What time is interview? And no it's not cheating

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:12

It's 10 am.
So I've set my alarm for 8 am
Gonna have breakfast then start going over notes.
I'm really nervous but fingers crossed

Loveluella · 02/02/2021 21:13

Not cheating, but please don't try and read your answers verbatim. It comes off as really stilted and can negatively impact your interview. Refer to them by all means but don't read!

Regularsizedrudy · 02/02/2021 21:14

Er that’s not cheating that’s what you’re SUPPOSED to do!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 02/02/2021 21:14

I agree with everyone else, this isn't cheating, it's being prepared. I've been on a lot in interview panels and it's perfectly fine for people to bring notes, and to refer to them during the interview. To me it shows they are well prepared and really want the job.

BenoneBeauty · 02/02/2021 21:14

That's not cheating, that's being prepared. Good luck in the interview!

This! Your friend has a very strange perception of cheating versus being prepared! I always liked it went candidates brought notes as it was clear they had researched and were genuinely passionate about the role.
sabrinathemiddleagewitch · 02/02/2021 21:17

Another one for not cheating! 100% write up notes and questions to ask at the end.

Is your friend in a similar field? As she's given strange advise.

gingerbreadmann · 02/02/2021 21:20

Do you have any thoughts on possible questions that might come up?
I'm trying to think of everything

OP posts:
Delphinium20 · 02/02/2021 21:21

Not cheating at all! This isn't a physics exam. If I were the hiring manager I would be impressed that you are proactive and did prep work, and relying on notes would also indicate to me you aren't a bullshitter, rather you are conscientious and don't want to make a mistake.

CaterpillarMilkshake · 02/02/2021 21:22

Of course it’s not cheating!

I’m a writer, not a talker, which means I’m perfectly articulate when I wrote, but have a terrible tendency to mind-freeze when I’m talking.

Written notes are the only way to avoid this. It’s not that I don’t know it - I do - but my mind freezes in pressure or nerve-inducing situations. So written notes help me stay on course.

The whole purpose of an interview is for an employer to establish the best person for a role. Not to get the person with the best ability to memorise stuff!

TokyoSushi · 02/02/2021 21:22

Absolutely take the notes! We give you permission only on the undertanding that you keep us updated with how you got on! Good luck!
