Aibu to cheat? Would you cheat ?

Bit of a moral dilemma here.
Tomorrow I have a final interview for a job I have wanted for years
Today they emailed and said due to technical issues the interview would be a phone interview again (I've already had a phone interview for this role, this was meant to be zoom)
So I'm thinking of writing some questions and answers out so I'm prepared and so I sound good.
My friend has said that's cheating and I should just treat it like I would a zoom.
What would you do?
I've been on glass door and wrote out and answered some interview questions apparently they ask.
Aibu to do this?
Is it actually cheating?

I suffer with tumbleweed of the brain like @CaterpillarMilkshake even though I know what I'm on about. Seriously, read a script if it means avoiding that!! 😂
I've conducted interviews and notes are nothing but a positive, you've got this!!
Bit strange your friend said it's cheating, worried you're going to get the job maybe?
You can never be too prepared, just having the notes will make you feel calmer, good luck!!

LouRidley · 02/02/2021 22:19

Are you sure your friend isn’t after the same job? Grin that isn’t cheating AT ALL. That’s being prepared as everyone said.

CrotchBurn · 02/02/2021 22:20

Not cheating!

BigPaperBag · 02/02/2021 22:23

Everyone else will be doing it so don’t put yourself at a disadvantage. Good luck!

skeenskeenjellybean · 02/02/2021 22:26

Not remotely cheating. Your mate is being daft and not thinking it through. Good luck good luck GOOD LUCK!

floofycroissant · 02/02/2021 23:17

@gingerbreadmann

You know which question I always struggle with What motivates you to get out of bed on a morning.. 1 knowing I can achieve something that day 2.the prospect of taking on a new challenge 3.learning new things in my job.

Total rubbish as its coffee and money that gets me up but I can't say that can I Grin

I think you can say that, being honest can also feel more genuine. There's no shame in working to have a life/provide for family. You can then spin that into how organised you ensure you can do the best in your role whilst balancing the priorities of life out side of work and how being task orientated helps etc.
fourandnomore · 02/02/2021 23:31

You can’t cheat in an interview as you don’t know what they’ll ask you! This is how anyone taking a job seriously prepares for an interview. Good luck with it and ignore your friend completely - this is NOT cheating and I would never cheat at anything.

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 02/02/2021 23:32

I would answer but I'm too disappointed that this isn't a juicy thread about infidelity

spiderplantwoman · 02/02/2021 23:32

I've always taken notes to 'real life' interviews. It's not cheating, it's being prepared & you will feel way more relaxed. Good luck!

ParlezVousWronglais · 02/02/2021 23:33

My goodness even if it was zoom I’d have notes. That’s normal!

Coffeeisnecessary · 02/02/2021 23:34

That's not cheating at all. Good luck for tomorrow! Hope it goes well for you.

AhNowTed · 02/02/2021 23:36

Notes is totally normal.

It's not a bloody school exam!

CSIblonde · 02/02/2021 23:37

It's not cheating , it's great interview prep. I have a mental list when I go for my contract roles , of the popular questions & my reply. I've only ever lost out on a few roles ive gone for in all these years,so I can't be going too far wrong. Good luck!

FraughtwithGin · 02/02/2021 23:39

Firstly, remember that an interview is a two-way process.
You have just as much right to interview them as they do you.
Cheating is something totally different. It is taking information from other people and using it for your own advancement.
You are not "cheating" to prepare for your interview.

DeeThree · 02/02/2021 23:42

I think you've got a fairly definitive answer here OP. Best of luck with the interview tomorrow! Let us know how it goes.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 02/02/2021 23:47

Tell us more about the company job! I can't remember the last time I heard anyone SO enthusiastic about a job!

maddening · 02/02/2021 23:48

Even in a face to face interview it is acceptable to take notes in with you. I had a zoom/webex interview during lockdown and had notes on one screen and the meeting on the other. The information was all me, all my words etc and all my delivery, it was not cheating in any way. I had prepared myself and that helped me to provide the information that they were looking for.

Hilarias · 03/02/2021 08:57

Not cheating! Or if it is everyone who’s sensible must do it! I had big posters with key words up behind my laptop for a recent zoom interview. I call it using initiative.

Cpl654321 · 03/02/2021 09:03

How is that cheating?? That's what I do before every interview!

You friend is an actual idiot.

gingerbreadmann · 03/02/2021 09:10

Thanks everyone
It's at 10 am I'm nervous but I know once I start I will settle down.
Didn't sleep the best last night

Good luck today! I really hope you get it.

sbhydrogen · 03/02/2021 09:15

Don't forget to write down questions to ask them, as well!

strawberriesontheNeva · 03/02/2021 09:20

That's not cheating. Good luck with your meeting

1987qwerty · 03/02/2021 09:24

As someone who's done a fair bit of interviewing l'd expect you to have prepared for the interview.

Mia1415 · 03/02/2021 09:24

Good luck. This is absolutely not cheating. I'm an HR manager and it makes an excellent impression when someone comes to an interview with notes and scenarios.
