To ask you to help GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!

PoorReg · 02/02/2021 13:57

3cm dilated now for over a week, had 3 sweeps, midwife said she could have broken my waters there and then if allowed, baby in perfect position, having contractions but not regular, had show, lost plug ages ago, can't bloody sleep, my hips feel like jelly inside me, and just plain miserable.

I'm now waiting on a call to be induced and have my waters manually broken, I won't need pessaries apparently. Call to come within the next few days I've been told.

So help me.... What did you do to shift a stubborn baby along? I've been told to exercise, walk etc... But weather is shit here so I'm hoping there's some other things I can do at home.

Did anything work for you? I am so miserable!

I will do anything. If you tell me sticking out your tongue and rubbing your head worked, I will try it. Anything.

(Ps I know a lot of it is old wives tales and nothing is guaranteed but if you did try something and felt it made a difference just tell me so I can do it... Please... I beg).

You can do it op! I had a baby in Oct and the little sod was 10 days over. Dh agreed to dtd. Quite frankly., it wasn't very romantic but my waters broke 3 hours later. Almost 3 days after that ds2 arrived!!

HastingsSpoon · 04/02/2021 19:56

Bless, I was in labour for days with both of mine. Can your midwife give you a sweep? That kicked it off properly for my 2nd (after around 3-4 days of no sleep!)

Dailyhandtowelwash · 04/02/2021 19:57

You poor thing. Does it hurt lying in the bath? I had a four day latent labour and fell asleep in the bath (with DH present) several times.

Suamino · 04/02/2021 19:58

Madras. Worked every time for me.

ILoveFlumps · 04/02/2021 20:03

I haven't read all of the replies so apologies if this is a repeat, but get some Clary Sage Oil! Trust me it works a treat. Few drops in a bath and you cal dilute a little in some massage or baby oil and rub on your skin.

movehimintothesun · 04/02/2021 20:04

You poor thing, that's really rubbish, you have every right to be grumpy. 😖.

Still, I'd still back my method - so hand expressing whilst standing it is! Smile (in the shower helps, if you can be bothered with the faff of a shower; with the warm water).

On another note though, I've just been sat on my ball and felt quite wet all of a sudden... I've either just pissed myself slightly or I'm leaking slowly? It's probably just piss going by how glamorous the rest of this is going 🤦

You really need a vindaloo... that's what got mine out the morning after... order one now it's not too late ;)

MothershipG · 04/02/2021 20:33

Yea made with cumin & a cube of raw potato was the last thing I tried before going into labour with DD who was in no hurry to vacate.

Good luck OP!

MothershipG · 04/02/2021 20:34

*Tea

Ohwowanother · 04/02/2021 20:34

I would guess that your waters may have gone. Last time this happened to me (I have a 13 month old) I was told to put on a maternity pad and lay down for an hour. If it is wet when you get up your waters have gone. Better advice would be ring the hospital you are delivering at

sg622 · 04/02/2021 20:50

Ah OP I really feel for you. I had exactly this with my second and it was a week of torture. On the plus side, once things properly kicked off it was only 2hrs from waters breaking to birth so I like to think all those contractions were doing something!

NoOpinionNoProblem · 04/02/2021 21:01

DC2 came after bouncing on a ball all day, pineapple juice, breast stimulation and a hot curry. I threw everything at it. I don't recommend the hot curry though as I was worried about shitting myself once I had gone into Labour.

Pinklewinkle · 04/02/2021 21:06

Try ironing standing up if you can whilst watching a show/ film / favourite box set that you really enjoy. You'll be so engrossed in the story you'll relax and it will take your mind of it, plus the movement of ironing and gravity might push things along. Best of luck! Excited for you that you'll have a beautiful new baby soon! X

Marmunia11975 · 04/02/2021 21:17

Chiropractor - I had a three hour labour for a first child. She nearly arrived in the car on the way to hospital.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 04/02/2021 21:33

OP, I’m going to solve this for you. Stand up and hold onto something for balance. Slowly lift one leg up, in a frog leg type movement. Almost as if you were drawing your leg up for breast stroke swimming. Then put down and repeat on the other side. Exaggerate the movement and rock your hips a bit. The idea is to encourage the baby’s head to move down and press harder on your cervix which will cause more intense contractions. You might have to do it for a while - half an hour or so. Go at it!

Notonthestairs · 04/02/2021 21:37

I was told by a midwife to walk up/down stairs sideways (bottom against the wall). Hold the rail!

honeybeetheoneandonly · 04/02/2021 22:48

Try an aubergine parmo. Just aubergine and mozzarella layered in tomato sauce and baked.
How I laughed when I read it...Then couldn't get the darn thing out of my mind.
DH made it the next day and DD came the day after.
If you fancy it, let me know if it also totally coincidentally works for you. :)

Perfect28 · 04/02/2021 22:50

You'll do anything, besides putting a coat on and walking in the rain?

BabbleBee · 04/02/2021 22:52

Reflexology budged DC4... but I was almost 43 weeks so was well and truly ready to pop.

Boopeedoop · 04/02/2021 22:54

Any news?

6demandingchildren · 04/02/2021 23:01

Tomorrow in the early hours is my guess

I didn't say I wouldn't / haven't been on a walk. I have. I asked if there was anything else I could try at home.

Feel free not to comment if you have nothing helpful to add though 👋
