To ask you to help GET THIS BABY OUT OF ME!

PoorReg · 02/02/2021 13:57

3cm dilated now for over a week, had 3 sweeps, midwife said she could have broken my waters there and then if allowed, baby in perfect position, having contractions but not regular, had show, lost plug ages ago, can't bloody sleep, my hips feel like jelly inside me, and just plain miserable.

I'm now waiting on a call to be induced and have my waters manually broken, I won't need pessaries apparently. Call to come within the next few days I've been told.

So help me.... What did you do to shift a stubborn baby along? I've been told to exercise, walk etc... But weather is shit here so I'm hoping there's some other things I can do at home.

Did anything work for you? I am so miserable!

I will do anything. If you tell me sticking out your tongue and rubbing your head worked, I will try it. Anything.

(Ps I know a lot of it is old wives tales and nothing is guaranteed but if you did try something and felt it made a difference just tell me so I can do it... Please... I beg).

I ate a whole fresh pineapple when DD2 was overdue and my waters broke overnight.
Whether it was coincidence is anyone's guess but worth a go if you can get hold of one. Apparently it has to be fresh.

JustNotFunAnymore · 03/02/2021 10:40

@BabyofMine

Was in slow labour for a week. Listened to a hypobirthing audio track, went for a nap, and was in active labour when I woke up after a couple of hours.

Could have been coincidence though!

This! You won't be pregnant forever op. I promise! 🥰
Keratinsmooth · 03/02/2021 11:31

Try dancing? Proper home disco? Will I Am and chemical brothers got me into labour, also the up and down stairs, a bath? I paced up and down the room for my labour, it was quick and mid wife said it was the pacing

Crunchymum · 03/02/2021 11:32

I can't see you have mentioned your gestation?

Are you overdue?

RETIREDandHAPPY · 03/02/2021 14:04

My daughter had a baby yesterday, ten days overdue, and she was losing amniotic fluid for two days beforehand. It was her fourth overdue baby and she tried every trick she knew...In the end she was induced and went from 3cm dilated to baby born in 19 min! Baby is fine and feeding well.

Good luck. Baby will come out eventually.

drumst1ck · 03/02/2021 22:03

Hope you're getting on okay OP!

fannyFERNACKERPANN · 03/02/2021 22:07

Vindaloo got both mine out

Bigtom · 03/02/2021 22:15

None of these things worked for me ... my baby eventually arrived 18 days late following an induced labour 😀

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 04/02/2021 07:57

Any news @PoorReg

Tinkerbell456 · 04/02/2021 08:04

Not a Mum, but that sounds very tedious! All the best for a happy, healthy delivery op. It will happen! 💐

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 04/02/2021 17:29

Hopefully op went quiet as she now has a baby!

DalryPlace · 04/02/2021 19:09

Update needed@PoorReg.

I'm sure there must be some good news. 💙💕💙

WineInTheWillows · 04/02/2021 19:16

Sheesh, give OP a break @DalryPlace. Poor woman probably has more important things to do than being your entertainment.

meltedgalaxy · 04/02/2021 19:17

Hope you're okay OP

PoorReg · 04/02/2021 19:19

Nothing to report unfortunately guys! I have given up trying now I am shattered and feeling really grumpy and really quite crap 😔

Still not heard a peep from the hospital either about my supposed induction this week... May call them tomorrow to check in.

If imagine since it's been over a day you've had the baby by now, but otherwise here is phoebe's suggestion.

I haven't read the whole thread tbh, but I scanned it and there was quite a lot of mention of 'nipple tweaking'. Can I just take that a step further - what worked for me (and had been advised by yoga teacher) was not 'tweaking', but a little bit of hand milk expressing. If you are comfortable having a go, try and stimulate your milk flow just a tiny bit. I'm not talking fill a glass, I'm talking literally just a drop or two appearing.

Worked for me twice, anyway!

movehimintothesun · 04/02/2021 19:23

Plus, as a bonus, you can do that lying down wherever you are right now!

GarlicMonkey · 04/02/2021 19:35

Acupuncture worked for me, twice. Went into labour 'proper' with the needles still in.

isthismylifenow · 04/02/2021 19:37

Ah OP that little baby is so snug in there.

Maybe instead of all the bouncing around, a nice bath, watch some telly and relax, while you are able.

Can you call your midwife in the morning if you havent progressed. A call this week sometime is a bit vague isn't it Confused

PoorReg · 04/02/2021 19:42

I can't lie down at the moment. It's horrible, I get really bad contractions when I'm lay down but they disappear as soon as I get up. I've had about 2 seconds sleep for the past few nights!

Sex both times for me. DD1 born at 40+5 and DD2 born at 40+2. DD2 was in a rush once she decided to come so beyond bouncing on a birthing ball, I’ve not got any great ideas on getting contractions going more once they’ve started.

Hope your baby comes soon OP.

AWanderingMinstrel · 04/02/2021 19:46

OP I feel for you. My first was 22 days late- I thought it would never end.

AVT5 · 04/02/2021 19:47

Had 4 babies and nothing helps if not ready. Honestly my best advice is to relax as much as possible. Go to bed early etc. Labour alays started when I wasn't thinking about it or was asleep. When your body is at its most relaxed i think your more likely to go into labour!

Soundbyte · 04/02/2021 19:53

@PoorReg Oh you poor thing, I had the same with my last baby, days of contractions when I was laying/sitting down (and being 3cm dilated) then fading away to nothing when I got up and about.

I resigned myself to yet another night of the same torture and no sleep one Saturday evening and stayed up watching Modern family. I didn’t bother sitting down because it was too uncomfortable so I was just slowly pacing as I watched tv and I laughed so much (I may have been a tad stir crazy at that point as I like modern family but it’s not as funny as I found it that evening 😂)

2 hours later I was off to hospital very definitely in full on Labour, and my little boy was born at 7am. Maybe it was the laughter or maybe it was just having finally relaxed I don’t know, but nearly a week after the torment he arrived bang on his due date!

He’s nearly 8 months old now and snuggled up gently snoring away in his cot next to me. It will be your turn very soon I promise, good luck 🥰
