I’ll start.

So he’s been pretty good bless him, shit situation etc not knowing when he’ll be going back.

Using bowls that we don’t normally use because the rest are fermenting in his room.

Blocking the washing machine got 3 days with his washing, then handing it out over mine which is drying making my clothes and the room he has hung it in absolutely stink.

😭😭

@PuntasticUsername

"Good day" has actually killed me stone dead 🤣🤣🤣
Me too! It was after reading it on another thread yesterday where the OP said they were leaving the thread and wouldn't be back. But, they came back, again, and again, quite often saying good day to you! I read it as this gif. I love that we now have the read next tabs under the ops posts as you can see when they are clearly fibbing about not coming back 😆

I meant to say Prosecco queen is a nocturnal beast too. When she does have to get up early for a lecture she crawls back to bed afterwards or feels ill. It's terrible!

Some days her achievements stack up to dyeing her eyebrows and putting pink streaks in the front of her hair. That was a busy day.

And there's a constant stream of Amazon/eBay/depop bargains being delivered as she is saving money on her living expenses. Though she claims it's all Christmas money. The clothing is mostly short crop tops that she can't wear anywhere. She is currently doing a slap load of make up to go on a walk with me in the drizzley dusk.

Eve · 02/02/2021 17:49

@Madhairday

I laughed at the Prosecco evenings, so different from my uni days. Very refined uni students now

In my day it was Lambrusco, Liebfraumilch and Blue Nun. With the occasional Babycham and 20/20 Grin

My ale loving DS shares with 5 girls this year - he came back at Xmas with a prosecco habit and helped himself to mine! Hmm
Besswess88 · 02/02/2021 18:16

OMG yes my son learnt to cook last year (when he went veggie) and he now critiques my cooking skills and I actually used to be a cook in a pub!!!

@Twistered

Wtf are you on about? Your threads probably going to be reported and deleted. What's even the point?
This is what my uni refugee sounds like.
MaidEdithofAragon · 02/02/2021 18:20

Keeps her bedroom super tidy by putting anything she's finished with literally outside the door. Mugs, glasses, plates, all sitting on the landing bring a trip hazard.

Theimpossiblegirl · 02/02/2021 18:27

Showing off now.
Mine bought a book today, attended an online lecture and now she's asleep.

CoalHouseDoor · 02/02/2021 18:30

Yup, got one here too.

Haven’t seen the floor in her room in weeks.

Optimistically taken tea up every morning since Jan 4th at 0830. That’s soooo annoying of me.

Didn’t bother this morning, guess who was expecting a wake up call with tea for the first 0900 lecture of term.

Oops.

Kitchen a no go twice a week for evening fitness zooms.

My cooking skills are suspect, dated and very probably racist and homophobic.

I’ll be inconsolable when she goes back.

HyggaeHugger · 02/02/2021 18:31

@Twistered

Oh my god! I'm sooooo sorry! I thought you were a uni student sharing with a refugee and being racist! Grin

I'm actually so bloody stupid . Wtf was I thinking Grin

I must admit I found the title confusing! It took until I read the OP to twig what she was on about!

I had never heard the term refugee used in this context before though

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 02/02/2021 18:31

This surely needs to go into classics 😂😂

Am intrigued as to how cooking skills can be racist or homophobic? Are there such things as LGBT recipes now?

Spare a thought for me, my refugee didn't go back after Christmas . He's doing a music degree so it's non stop practice on a Trombone . I work from home some of the time and I've been relegated to the living room as he has online music lessons. We've had rhythmic clapping, household noises, all sorts going on, but he's lovely really and when I've had enough I declare I'm going to the office all day for a quiet break! Grin

Butteredtoast55 · 02/02/2021 19:46

I have got two - yes, TWO! Since their return, it would appear that I have been doing everything wrong for the last 50 years...you name it: slicing vegetables, stacking the dishwasher, understanding how to arrange the fridge, knowing the optimum day for doing the washing, maximising my storage space and - most importantly of all - knowing when and how to exercise. I am often the recipient of an eye roll or a tut. They have managed to stay just on the acceptable side of mansplaining.
On the plus side, I no longer have to get out a step ladder to reach things that are too high for me, they go out to do the shopping, there are a lot of laughs and good company, and I am getting plenty of hugs and appreciation. I am also artfully playing the game of 'Well, can you just show me again the best way to load the washing machine?' The gullible fools Wink

peak2021 · 02/02/2021 19:51

I don't think refugee is the appropriate term to use.

'Student at home' perhaps? Had the government been competent of course they would never have left the family home for study in September/October.

Non stop practice on a trombone?? Poor you. Mind you, at least he didn't choose timpani!
flowerbombVR · 02/02/2021 20:24

Liking refugee to smelly, dirty, lazy, useless, mess is absolutely crass. Well done, you all must be so proud.
I think there was one who was neat and clean. So approx 1/100.

Shock

UnityUnited · 02/02/2021 20:27

Dear god. Some people are bloody thick Grin

Bearnecessity · 02/02/2021 20:35

This is hilarious....😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣...

Op my own refugee..delights in winding me up with wet towels in the dirty linen basket and an ankle deep trail of cereal from the kitchen to his room...most days.

This has to go in classics....so funny...

HollyGoLoudly1 · 02/02/2021 20:37

I vote to move this to classics @MNHQ Grin

flowerbombVR · 02/02/2021 20:38

Its out and out ignorant.

Sootybear · 02/02/2021 20:50

My neighbours are moving away tomorrow, I wonder if it's related to the non stop trombone practice. Confused

Twistered · 02/02/2021 20:51

What you mean flowerbomb

flowerbombVR · 02/02/2021 20:57

I feel that if read by a refugee, this thread could hurt and offend them. I read it all and tried to understand but I just couldn't make it square. It also feels good in parts.

flowerbombVR · 02/02/2021 20:57

Goady in parts*

The word ‘refugee’ has nothing to do with the actions of the uni-age kids on the thread. It just means the uni-age kids can’t be at uni - they are ‘refugees’ from their university accommodation.

It’s not likening refugees from other countries with being dirty, smelly, lazy people.

It’s literally just saying students aren’t allowed to be in their universities - they’re ‘homeless at home’ if you like?
