I’ll start.

So he’s been pretty good bless him, shit situation etc not knowing when he’ll be going back.

Using bowls that we don’t normally use because the rest are fermenting in his room.

Blocking the washing machine got 3 days with his washing, then handing it out over mine which is drying making my clothes and the room he has hung it in absolutely stink.

😭😭

Skybooks · 01/02/2021 23:17

Where did your fresh washing come from if his had been in the machine for 3 days?

OakSnows · 01/02/2021 23:18

@Twistered

Wtf are you on about? Your threads probably going to be reported and deleted. What's even the point?
WTAF?

I thought it was a great thread title!

@MNHQ I do not consider this thread spam!

Crampon · 01/02/2021 23:20
@Bluntness100 GrinGrin. I got it so so so wrong Grin

Does anyone have a link to the cat thread?
cat thread is here

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 01/02/2021 23:25

Totally normal vent. I'll join in.

Nocturnal, untidy, willing to help but always "forgets". Mine has gone back now, and frankly I needed the rest.

Griselda1 · 01/02/2021 23:25

Eating separately from the rest of the family. This means the kitchen is never clean, sink and dishwasher are always full. Brushing teeth in the kitchen for some really bizarre reason.Sitting in my chair and refusing to leave it, having really lengthy zoom and teams calls and thinking you can condemn the entire household to total silence for hours.

Babyroobs · 01/02/2021 23:25

Mine has gone back thank goodness. He returned just before Christmas, still recovering from covid a few weeks before. He announced he had no sense of smell still so I would need to tell him if he smelt. When I did tell him he smelt he went off in a rage saying I was unkind to him !

rossclare · 01/02/2021 23:25

Does that not make you really sad? I'd be devastated not to see my daughters for 6 months (we haven't hit the teens yet though!)

beccy11 · 01/02/2021 23:26

I'd like to submit my refugees moments:
Randomly deciding at 2am to make noodles and brownies just because (and not sharing the baked goods)
Eating a whole (1kg) block of cheese as a snack!
Appearing in the living room at 9pm,watching tik toks loudly while snoozing on the sofa 🙄

But
She's home and she's safe and it's a really sucky time for them so I'm channeling my zen

Besswess88 · 01/02/2021 23:26

CoRhona · 01/02/2021 23:27

You're all BU, mine has gone back and I miss him Sad

I only remember the good bits when he's not here Grin

Besswess88 · 01/02/2021 23:28

@rossclare

It gets easier to separate yourself from them as they become older.

Saying that I haven’t seen my DD and DS since Xmas day and I do miss them.

RaininSummer · 01/02/2021 23:32

Blimey, what with this thread and the 'boy' licking his own nipples, we seem to have gone collectively crazy on here this week. Lockdown is getting to us. I agree that students are mainly smelly, messy things. I console myself that my daughter's many festering experiments with unwashed crockery in her room have at least led to a scientific career rather than a terrible disease.

Waspnest · 01/02/2021 23:32

Well this wins the award for best thread of 2021 already.

This is funny, but no, the cat nipple one had me howling with laughter.

I read the title as something annoying that your Uni was doing so I'm glad I didn't comment.

Maassi · 01/02/2021 23:33

@rossclare

No. You wont be devastated at all when they are older. Yoy will be glad of the break as the emotional demands are so much more. And.. they have better comebacks and arguments. But teenager hugs are deffo better than toddler hugs because they are so rare.
Hexuba · 01/02/2021 23:34
@Hexuba

Because I just wanted to have a laugh about it.

Clearly we discuss things and I am supportive and I love him Hmm
This is clearly my issue and yours/ other Mumsnetters sense of humour are lost on me....as you were!! :D

Twistered · 01/02/2021 23:36

Just read the cat thread and chuckled all the way . I read it as if it was the son too 😂

Thisisworsethananticpated · 01/02/2021 23:38

I thought you were a uni student sharing with a refugee and being racist!

Grin
Waspnest · 01/02/2021 23:39

We're laughing about how some posters have misunderstood the OP.

God knows why someone would report the thread for spamming.

Blondiney · 01/02/2021 23:39

Can he lick his own nipples though?

SatsumasOrClementines · 01/02/2021 23:40

The Good Day was amazing. I actually snorted. It’s due a come back surely? Must remember to say it next time I angry flounce Grin.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/02/2021 23:40

My DD phones roughly weekly and we have a long chat - sometimes long enough that by mutual consent we take a wee break. We had her for 3 months in the summer and she'll be back this summer... before starting a job and becoming a Proper Adult.Shock (but she looks about 12 when she's in bed warm and tousled. Still my baby.Grin)
PlanDeRaccordement · 01/02/2021 23:40

I have one refugee too, DD19. Not going to lie it is lovely and frustrating in equal measure.

CherryRoulade · 01/02/2021 23:45

One post uni pre moving into flat.
It’s the complex stir fries every lunchtime. Three chopping boards, bowls, ramekins of siracha mayo, metal utensils in my sauté pan. slithers of chopped vegetables in the clean dishcloth.

seaclaidte · 01/02/2021 23:46

I am sorry if my premature response derailed your thread a wee bit op.

Flowers

And good day Grin
