I’ll start.

So he’s been pretty good bless him, shit situation etc not knowing when he’ll be going back.

Using bowls that we don’t normally use because the rest are fermenting in his room.

Blocking the washing machine got 3 days with his washing, then handing it out over mine which is drying making my clothes and the room he has hung it in absolutely stink.

😭😭

Besswess88 · 01/02/2021 22:56

@Twistered no worries 🤣🤣🤣

Oh my God is it a full moon?!

OP as i mum.of three boys i would only indulge him as long as he needs to get over the shit storm his uni life has become. Give him some love and sympathy then as soon as he seems happy enough, give him the chat.

He has done his own washing and hung it out so that's hardly dragged up. But alas, in his teen brain he is a genius for getting that done. Teens don't tend to see the whole picture so he sees himself as self efficient. He doesnt see the damp drying or why anyone needs the washing machine.

Crampon · 01/02/2021 22:56

@rattlemehearties

Sounds like he wasn't brought up very well if he thinks that is acceptable behaviour. Who dragged him up op?
Hmm
Bouledeneige · 01/02/2021 23:00

Blimey that went very weird very quickly.

My DD is still here. Mostly very lovely company but her room is a storage facility for mugs and plates and towels. She rarely does any washing at all. And she is very keen to order in takeaways and have Prosecco evenings.

Having said that she does go and get groceries and coffees now and again, comes for walks with me and plays board games or cards after dinner from time to time. And she's doing her Art in the kitchen which is lovely.

Maassi · 01/02/2021 23:01

My uni refugee wakes up at 4pm... moans about essays to do which she does... and goes to bed at 3am. I think shes put her body clock into nightshift mode. Shes pretty well house trained though. Its just the dramatic hand to the forehead announcing she has EXAMS and do I want her to fail uni. No love I want you to wake up at normal people time so you have enough time and maybe even go for a daily walk. And I dont want you fucking walking into my room at 3am offering me snacks while I'm asleep! Angry

Besswess88 · 01/02/2021 23:01

He comes downstairs and asks me to turn the TV down 🤣🤣

Why don't you help him acclimatise rather than slagging him off?
Crampon · 01/02/2021 23:03

I'll bet those of us who didn't misunderstand the thread will be the ones with teens home from university. Grin Sounds normal to me.

Eve · 01/02/2021 23:04

He hung it up though!

Sadly both mine are back at uni and I won’t see them til Easter.

It’s exam time so I’m getting lots of phone calls for a chat / stress / moan... in normal times it’s me that calls and I get the ‘mum, I’m busy, what do you want’

Besswess88 · 01/02/2021 23:04

@Hexuba

Because I just wanted to have a laugh about it.

Clearly we discuss things and I am supportive and I love him Hmm

Not as bad as the misunderstanding on the cat thread a couple of days ago ...

Bluntness100 · 01/02/2021 23:05

Honestly this site makes me chuckle. Uni students harbouring refugees ans complaining about their lack of house manners, and asking how other peoples refugees are behaving .

I mean seriously 😂😂😂😂😂

I heard uni refugees are like gremlins... Do not get them wet!

DustyMaiden · 01/02/2021 23:07

Mine is lovely but nocturnal . He has delighted me today by eating spaghetti bolognaise for the first time ever.

lovelemoncurd · 01/02/2021 23:09

I thought the thread title referred to you somehow taking in a refugee that was also a student at a university. I was totally confused!

Twistered · 01/02/2021 23:10

@Bluntness100 GrinGrin. I got it so so so wrong Grin

Does anyone have a link to the cat thread?

Elieza · 01/02/2021 23:10

@WolfHunter
....or feed them after midnight 😱....but that’s when they eat the most, noooooo!!!

Maassi · 01/02/2021 23:10

In her defence, every few hours she will appear and plonk herself onto my lap for a hug and then go back to working. Which is pretty lovely and makes up for the rest of everything 😍

Ooh, it's a CF thread as well! Now all we need is a diagram of the washing problem... (and next time take it out of the dryer and leave it in the garden to get darked on)
mymadpuppy · 01/02/2021 23:14

A lot of posters seem very keen to pounce on someone rather than hold back and think before they go on the attack.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 01/02/2021 23:14

Did someone really just end a sanctimonious post with 'good day'.

Pahahaha Grin

hansgrueber · 01/02/2021 23:15

@seaclaidte

Instead of moaning about it to random people on the Internet. Why dont you have a conversation with your guest.

There is nothing wrong with setting out house rules.

Also I have reported your post as spam.
Good day

It's perfectly clear what the OP is saying, having read numerous posts when my reaction was Then do something about it instead of wittering in here, I fail to see how the OP has upset your obviously very sensitive antennae!
