My eldest DS 24 tested positive last Monday so obviously we as a family are isolating.
Myself, DH and youngest DS15.
Eldest is fine and well but positive.
Would you walk your dog for say 20 mins at around 2am on a field right on your doorstep with no chance of seeing anyone at all to give the poor dog some sense of normality?
I'm lucky to have a medium sized garden but she will only wee wee there, not poo.
And having someone walk her is a no go as she will not walk with anyone other than her family.
She will refuse to leave.
And I don't want to stress her anymore as she is already stressed from having all cooped up!
So... 2 am walks for mine and hers sanity or a no no?

OP you weren't trying to be responsible, you wanted MN to tell you it's OK so you don't feel guilty at breaking the law.

In all likelihood it will be fine, but if you are injured and need assistance you will be putting people at risk.

Here's the RSPCA advice www.rspca.org.uk/-/how-to-care-for-your-pets-if-you-re-ill-or-have-to-self-isolate-due-to-coronavirus

I spend all week advising people to self isolate - we don't stop at weekends and don't even stop over Christmas and new year - so glad I missed time with my children at Christmas for people to just ignore us and do what the fuck they like.

Scarlettpixie · 31/01/2021 17:19

I haven’t broken any covid rules but I would do this OP. Enjoy your walk (just don’t touch anything).

unbotheredbutbewildered · 31/01/2021 17:21

There's a general MH exemption in the self-isolation provisions. You'd qualify under that anyway - even without the dog!

You should definitely do this.

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 17:38

Thanks sensible folk and fellow dog owners.
Wow!
Flamed much!
( hope they are homeschooling)

No plans to fall and break my ankle or neck.
I have good wellies.
I'm talking a 20 min sniff outside my front door.
Not a fricking hike?
I'll shut up now.
Jeez

Literally a few weeks back people on here were telling shielders to walk at times others wouldn’t be out. So now we have the shielders and those who have been in close contact with positive covid all walking at quiet times together. Marvellous. Does it make you feel less of a selfish idiot if you call those who don’t agree with you judgemental? Because of course, despite the law being abundantly clear, you can’t possibly be wrong.

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 17:42

I'll yell at everyone I meet at 2am
" it's ok! My dog needs a poo"

OP posts:
m0therofdragons · 31/01/2021 17:44

@fleurbelle not homeschooling because I work in a hospital Angry
We have a isolation plan for our dog (which we haven’t needed yet) - friends will come with their own lead and walk our dog. I can only assume you don’t have any friends.

m0therofdragons · 31/01/2021 17:45

I'll yell at everyone I meet at 2am " it's ok! My dog needs a poo"

Or, follow the rules and stay home a few days 🤷🏻‍♀️

HappygoesLucy · 31/01/2021 17:47

I'm a stickler for rule following but I think as long as you can get a good look of the area you're going to and know for sure there's no one there, absolutely. If the field is that near to you then it's no different than being in your garden with a neighbour the other side of the fence.

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 17:49

Plenty of friends mOther.
Dog will not go out with anyone other than family

Yes. Go for it x

Pissing my self at the negative self righteous posts.
I only want my dog to have a peaceful poo.
Thankyou to you all who made sense and that I'm not reliable at 2am for my doggy to poop in peace for the whole pandemic.
I'll be alone within 20 metres of my house but within 300 of houses and people.
Save my poor girl and the vets.
Oh and I pick up ever poo.
( please tonight I have extra bags)

CharlotteRose90 · 31/01/2021 18:04

I’d do it. If not the dog will go in your house eventually. If no one is around id do it for sure. My dog is the same and won’t go in our garden so I have to take him out.

Unanananana · 31/01/2021 18:07

Posting in AIBU was probably a mistake if you didn't want a flaming. Not sure what you were expecting!?

Yes some people are being over the top but if you don't want their opinions why the fuck bother asking? You will do as you please anyway.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 18:12

Pretty sure the point of this thread was just to try and wind people up.

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 18:19

Sunflowers, it absolutely wasn't.
I'll take my girl within a mile of anyone at 2 ish AM.
That's what a good dog owner and responsible would do I've decided.
Won't bother asking again!

OP posts:
sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 18:20

But why ask when you'd clearly already made up your mind? What did you want to achieve?

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 18:21

No wonder this shit ends up on DM.
Hilarious.
Ask a decent question.....

When I was isolating with covid, the big decision was whether I had the energy to get to the bathroom and/or make a flask of tea.

Being ill has made me a bit paranoid about "rule breaking" - however if you're not near anyone, you're going out when you're highly unlikely to see anyone, not touching anything other than your own front door - and you feel safe and well enough to go, just do it - at least once, to see if the dog enjoys it and isn't too confused by walks in the early hours of the morning.

Sounds a lot less of a risk than the two arses traipsing round M&S ignoring the "shop alone signs" with their kids zooming round on fucking scooters.
The mother looked seriously pissed off when I said I was sorry that she was illiterate and unable to read the signs, but not quite as much as when she was told to leave the store. Grin

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 18:30

For the context.. I've not tested positive and I've been vaccinated.

OP posts:
Rowenasemolina · 31/01/2021 18:33

No. You are isolating. You can’t

Borderterrierpuppy · 31/01/2021 18:36

Yes do it, as long as you don’t get within 2 m of anyone it will be fine

m0therofdragons · 31/01/2021 18:37

Being vaccinated does not mean you definitely can’t carry it. If you get it, your symptoms are less likely to mean you need hospital treatment. Did you not read the leaflet? I’ve been vaccinated and they make that very clear. Mind you, rules about close contact, isolating and dog walking are also very clear so you’re not great at reading.
