My eldest DS 24 tested positive last Monday so obviously we as a family are isolating.
Myself, DH and youngest DS15.
Eldest is fine and well but positive.
Would you walk your dog for say 20 mins at around 2am on a field right on your doorstep with no chance of seeing anyone at all to give the poor dog some sense of normality?
I'm lucky to have a medium sized garden but she will only wee wee there, not poo.
And having someone walk her is a no go as she will not walk with anyone other than her family.
She will refuse to leave.
And I don't want to stress her anymore as she is already stressed from having all cooped up!
So... 2 am walks for mine and hers sanity or a no no?

@wasthataburp

Just go early or late. You can't not walk the dog
Of course she can.

She could hire a dog walker. She could ask a friend or family member to walk the dog. She could just let the dog have run of the garden - the dog won't die if it can't get walked for 10 days.

OP just wants to justify her actions and go out regardless.

I am a dog owner btw. If I tested positive or needed to isolate, I would hire a dog walker or ask a friend to walk my dog.

WunWun · 31/01/2021 16:58

You wipe her bum? Is that a thing?!

You're also braver than me to go walking around a field at 2am on your own Confused

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 16:59

I haven't actually been called out on it.
And i don't care if I am in the small hours.
I've lost family to this shit disease.
Abided by all the rules which is difficult when you work with young adults with severe LD and ASD.
Only wanted my dog to have a peaceful poo.

YABU and have only listened to posted who think you’re NBU. Then been rude to everyone who thinks you’re being irresponsible and reckless.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 31/01/2021 17:01

@davidsSchitt

"You won't be bumping into anyone else by that time, surely?"

Except for the police who are patrolling in our area and giving fines out to anyone without a good reason to be out.

So when they stop and ask her she's there exposing them to covid. The dog will walk with someone else and you need to stay home.

Well police presence totally depends where you live and where you go. I go out every day for work, shopping, exercise and I've have never seen any police other than on the roads with their blue lights on. I could be out walking 24/7 and I'd lay any money I'd never be stopped.

Thousands of people every day are carrying on their normal life when they know they have covid but MN has the collective vapours if someone who's had a negative test goes out in a field in the dead of night for 20 mins.

I do wonder if everyone here is actually a real person

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 17:02

Of course I wipe her bum.
She's a Frenchie.
She can't reach.

Yes, do it.

wasthataburp · 31/01/2021 17:05

@sunflowersandbuttercups yes you are right in have a dog and that's what I'd do but I am assuming there is a reason she can't do this

Thefaceofboe · 31/01/2021 17:08

I would 100%. Maybe not 2am though, id just go around 6am.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 17:09

OP has a garden, so no reason not to just let the dog out and entertain her at home.

There are loads of ways to tire out a dog that don't involve taking them for walks - scent work, training, tricks and brain games to name a few. With a garden, you can also do basic agility - it's very easy to build your own jumps or obstacle course.

If the dog was injured and on crate-rest for several weeks, she'd need to entertain her at home. At the moment she has other options - she's just refusing to use them.

fireplaceburning · 31/01/2021 17:09

I would do it at 10pm to be honest. It's important for the dog's welfare! Don't touch anything and you are fine. Some people follow rules blindly without looking at the bigger picture. How would you infect someone if you don't see anyone or touch anything

AlexaShutUp · 31/01/2021 17:10

Not 6am...too many people will be out jogging etc at that time. I think the OP is spot on with 2am, as she is very unlikely to encounter anyone at that time.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 17:10

Those people aren't coming on here and asking for advice, though. If OP didn't want to hear she was wrong, she shouldn't have posted Hmm

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 17:11

No communal area.
That's outside my front door.
Wished I'd not bothered trying to be be responsible now.
I'll be irresponsible and walk my dog ( that will not tolerate a dog Walker or stranger) at 2am.
And yes she had pooped since Monday to those who asked.
Massively constipated in my hall which is fine.
Not her fault.
Setting my alarm for 2am so as not to bump into the many judgeMENTAL posters.
Thanks that own needy dogs. 👍

FFS idiots like this are the reason we are in this crisis. Go break the law and potentially expose others to the disease, despite also having a garden where the dog can crap. Sounds like a GREAT plan that you can be proud of.

She could hire a dog walker to walk the dog, or ask a friend or a neighbour. She also has a garden for the dog to go in.

She absolutely doesn't need to go out at 2am and do it herself.

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 31/01/2021 17:12

Ffs when are people going to understand- STAY HOME IF YOU OR A MEMBER OF YOUR HOUSE HOLD HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR COVID. SYMPTOMS OR NOT !!! it really is quite fucking simple.

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 31/01/2021 17:13

Oh my god people are so JUDGMENTAL for not wanting to get a disease off you all as you go about breaking the law. It’s clearly so unreasonable for people to not want you to potentially kill them. Gosh people are SO unreasonable

Unanananana · 31/01/2021 17:13

Why even bother asking?? You are clearly going to do it anyway?

You won't see anyone or touch anything so just do it. You don't need to attention seek or try and start a barney over it.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 17:13

What was the point in you posting here, OP? You're just shooting down all the other suggestions and implying that everyone who disagrees with you is an idiot.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 31/01/2021 17:13

Yanbu.

Perfect28 · 31/01/2021 17:15

What have you been doing for the past week? The dog hasn't pooed the entire time?

Flowerythoughts · 31/01/2021 17:15

Wished I'd not bothered trying to be be responsible now

Going out when you should be isolating isn't responsible

AlbusSeverusMalfoy · 31/01/2021 17:17

Don't know why you asked. You're going to do it any way. You asked a question. You can't call people judgemental because not everyone gave the answer you wanted. God I hope you don't know any one who has lost their life to covid ! Twat

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 31/01/2021 17:17

Dont be so ridiculous

You don't actually think that daily case numbers of over 50000 were driven in any way by 2am dog walkers do you? I think you might need to research the actual areas of transmission.

Covidiots are responsible for some cases but not those who leave the house and don't actually see another person.
