My eldest DS 24 tested positive last Monday so obviously we as a family are isolating.
Myself, DH and youngest DS15.
Eldest is fine and well but positive.
Would you walk your dog for say 20 mins at around 2am on a field right on your doorstep with no chance of seeing anyone at all to give the poor dog some sense of normality?
I'm lucky to have a medium sized garden but she will only wee wee there, not poo.
And having someone walk her is a no go as she will not walk with anyone other than her family.
She will refuse to leave.
And I don't want to stress her anymore as she is already stressed from having all cooped up!
So... 2 am walks for mine and hers sanity or a no no?

I really can't see 2am in the circumstances would be a problem, I'd just do it.

Ponoka7 · 31/01/2021 16:30

I'd do whatever won't cause a risk to anyone else, whether it's against the rules or not. If the Police stop you, you are doing permitted exercise. Just don't mention the isolating. You could make it earlier/later.

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 16:30

And no police patrolling a lone dog Walker 😊😊

if tested posative on mon then surely youve all been isolating since at least the sun night and so are a week in, if youve done a week whats a few more days?

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 16:34

I haven't tested positive.
My son has.
I've had the vaccine and tested negative yesterday.
Key worker.

dawnc27 · 31/01/2021 16:37

doesnt matter if you tested negative yesterday, up until the iso period end it could change so you should still be isolating but be nearing the end date

Reinventinganna · 31/01/2021 16:37

Farmers near me have stuck up signs on the gates to fields because of people putting them at risk. It’s hugely unfair.

Do you know the owner of the field?

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 16:46

It's city council owned.
It's a massive green in front of my inner city estate home.
No farms.
No livestock.
Just fucking grass my dog would like to shit on that I pick up up and wipe her bum 😀

People really don’t understand what isolating means do they because everyone thinks they’re special. You are not the only person with a dog but obviously the law doesn’t matter because some mn have agreed it’s fine. Is the risk of what your suggesting low? Yes. Would it be lower still if you just stayed the fuck home? Yes.

HugeAckmansWife · 31/01/2021 16:50

It seems pretty clear given the location and type of field it will be absolutely fine and exactly the sort of thing we need to be using our common sense about. To the pp who said there still will be lots of people out walking at 10pm...wtf? In January, in the pitch dark with no pubs or restaurants or gigs or houseparties to be at, no I really doubt there will be lots of people about. OP just go. It's completely bloody obvious you should.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 16:50

What was the point in asking if you clearly plan on taking her anyway?

NailsNeedDoing · 31/01/2021 16:51

The risk to the dog wouldn’t be lower if she stayed at home.

sunflowersandbuttercups · 31/01/2021 16:51

It's completely bloody obvious you should

Ignoring the fact that she would be breaking the law by doing so?

fleurbelle · 31/01/2021 16:52

Thankyou to the sensible ones!
I'll enjoy my 2 am walk.
To the negatives.... get a life or a dog 😜

Brighterthansunflowers · 31/01/2021 16:53

YABU but clearly don’t give a shit so not sure why you bothered asking

m0therofdragons · 31/01/2021 16:53

@sunflowersandbuttercups because now so random people on the internet have validated her behaviour so she can do it guilt free while those of us who disagree with her are painted as ott. Having spent my week between ICU and the vaccine clinic in the hospital I have very little tolerance for those who can’t follow the rules because they are more special than others.

Chanjer · 31/01/2021 16:54

Do you have your own front door or do you have to go through a communal area?

Flowerythoughts · 31/01/2021 16:54

No, I wouldn’t.

www.gov.uk/guidance/coronavirus-covid-19-advice-for-people-with-animals
If you, or a member of your household, have symptoms of coronavirus you should self-isolate for 10 days

If you’re self-isolating you should make alternative arrangements to take care of your animal’s welfare. You should ask for support from others who are not self-isolating or use professional services

Spied · 31/01/2021 16:54

Has the dog not had a poo since Monday?

m0therofdragons · 31/01/2021 16:55

@fleurbelle I have a dog and a life that I’m living within the rules so I can work in the hospital as safely as possible. People who think breaking the law during a pandemic are not sensible. The word you’re after is “entitled”.

dawnc27 · 31/01/2021 16:55

more than likely been doing it all week and been called out on it since theres only a few days to go

WorraLiberty · 31/01/2021 16:56

@Spied

Has the dog not had a poo since Monday?
That's exactly what I was going to ask!

OP, what have you been doing so far since last Monday?

wasthataburp · 31/01/2021 16:56

Just go early or late. You can't not walk the dog

catratmeow · 31/01/2021 16:57

Yes but not 2am. Go around 10pm or 9:30am
