Would you have reported?
I'm not a fan of reporting for reporting sake so this has shocked me.
Just what outcome was expected by sending footage to his bosses?

YABU = he deserves to lose his job.
YANBU = it's batshit he kicked a snowman.

Soz if there has been a thread already.

"Nearly 4,300 signatures now so it's not just his 'Little Facebook mates' signing it."

That's not a lot of people is it and let's face it, there's no "job" to reinstate.

powershowerforanhour · 31/01/2021 14:48

*not the first time Woodhouse has got in hot water for 'kicking off'.

Last July he was slapped with a 12-month community order, 120 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £250 for attacking a barman and headbutting two police officers in a drunken rage.*

Diddums. I'm sure there are plenty of deserving, hardworking non-arseholes who would be happy to get paid to go on the bin round that he has not been asked back on, so that they can support their families. He was given the work but basically pissed it up the wall all by himself, now somebody else can have a turn and just do the job rather than arsing about. I bet the rest of that bin crew are glad to see the back of him too.

Eleganz · 31/01/2021 14:49

But yes the sad face dailymail photo is typical.

Which will be entirely at the behest of the mail's photographer.

davidsSchitt · 31/01/2021 14:50

He clearly completely ignored his supervisor too. I doubt any of them want to work with him.

WorraLiberty · 31/01/2021 14:51

It's literally climbing by the second and well on its way to the 5000 signatures it wants to reach.

It will no doubt exceed that amount well within the hour.

Eleganz · 31/01/2021 14:51

@LakeGeneva

You're representing the council whilst working. You are expected to follow a code of conduct.

If the council expects people to represent them then they should make them employees. Then when those employees fail to discharge their duties in a manner the council deems appropriate the council can have it out in an employment tribunal.

We've already had the argument that he's only a contractor. So how can he be expected to uphold standards of an organisation that apparently doesn't employ him?

Do you have any idea how agency work works?

What a ridiculous thing to say.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 31/01/2021 14:52

Nearly 4,300 signatures now so it's not just his 'Little Facebook mates' signing it.

All those people unable to understand the concept of ad hoc agency hire. I wonder if they also feel disgusted in themselves if they've ever once bought some fruit from a market stall or small greengrocer and then subsequently 'taken away a hardworking person's job' that they've apparently given to them in perpetuity, every time they nip into Asda instead.

Even politicians don't seem to get it when they talk about being devastated at 'losing' votes or seats. No: you were given a vote last time for a mutually-known maximum period and, now that's expired and there's a new vote to be given to somebody, whatever makes you think that you have 'lost' it, simply because you happened to gain the last one but weren't successful in getting this wholly separate new one?

Eleganz · 31/01/2021 14:52

It will no doubt exceed that amount well within the hour.

And it won't make a difference, even if they reached a million signatures.

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 14:52

Someone who has convictions for assaulting barmen and policemen, randomly attacks inanimate objects, swears at their employer and refuses to apologise for wrong doing on the job, absolutely will not have a clean record on the job up to this point. I very much doubt this incident was the only reason he wasn’t invited back to work for this employer.

OakSnows · 31/01/2021 14:52

All signed by people who haven’t seen the footage. Even if it was say a bin bag he was kicking, you don’t act like that in public with your employers logo on your chest knowing that likely people are watching (including kids) out the window.

TwelvePaws · 31/01/2021 14:53

It will no doubt exceed that amount well within the hour.

It’s certainly no shock that there are a lot of twats on Facebook. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hoiking · 31/01/2021 14:54

He was just letting off steam on an inanimate object.

Who the fuck needs to 'let off steam', at work, by trashing someone else's efforts?
Why on earth do people make excuses for men like this?! He's not a toddler who has just had a tantrum, he's a grown man AT WORK!!

If you call a taxi for one single journey, is it entirely your fault if the driver drives recklessly and is rude, aggressive and insulting to you - just because you didn't buy his car for him and give him a permanent job?

FreekStar · 31/01/2021 14:55

Ridiculous! The snowman doesn't even look like it's in a private garden. If you build a snowman on communal or public land then it's stupid to be precious about it. It's a snowman FFS! Not a marble statue!

willFOURbagsbeenough · 31/01/2021 14:55

You know I hope the vote reaches its target and the council get to be clear about why this man won’t be working for them again. It should be enlightening. If only the voting platform allowed people to remove their votes.

AKissAndASmile · 31/01/2021 14:56

So true!

Eleganz · 31/01/2021 14:57

Often agencies workers are used to provide short term cover for essential roles due to the sudden departure/illness of staff or unexpected increases in demand. Often you have a limited pool of candidates available at the time and need to make decisions quickly so you tend to pick people who look okay on paper and give them a go. There are times when they don't work out, including when they display attitude or behavioural problems. That's just how it works and the Council have done nothing wrong.

SarahBellam · 31/01/2021 14:58

The guy is an aggressive thug and has form. This was probably just the excuse they needed to get rid of him.

DinnaeFashSassenach · 31/01/2021 14:58

I'm not sure if I agree with it but he was an agency worker who upset his placement's customers by acting unprofessionally and the placement requested he not come back. Removing the fact it was 'just a snowman' I can see how the council's point of view. He also refused to apologise for his dicking about.

jambeforeclottedcream · 31/01/2021 14:58

Yabu he was abusing someone's property. Say if he though a rock into a window he would be so where do you draw the line?

HighHeelBoots · 31/01/2021 15:00

He has a history of assault. He was an agency worker so wasn't sacked. From what I read he had to aggressively kick the snowman several times in order to destroy it.
He had the opportunity to apologise
What a waster

BonnieDundee · 31/01/2021 15:01

I cant make up my mind. It was a mean thing to do. It seems harsh to.lose his.job
But from what I understand he was on a zero hours contract and just not given any more hours. On the other hand if he.was capable of that, what else is he likely to be capable of, and is this the sort of person who would cause trouble in the team?

Picks splinters out of arse

Sparklesocks · 31/01/2021 15:01

It wasn’t a nice thing to do but the punishment was a massive overreaction and getting the press to take photos of their sad toddler was a bit pathetic.

StephenBelafonte · 31/01/2021 15:01

He deserved what he got. He didn't even apologise. He's a grown ass man for gods sake, still acting like a teenager.
