Just saw this on a Facebook group... Confused

Of course water doesn’t get hot enough to sterilise in a diswasher. Water needs to be 82 degrees to sterilise most don’t go above 70

Oversize · 30/01/2021 22:12

I would never put loos brushes in the dishwasher but for all the yuck factor here, I wonder if the families/visitors of people who do are constantly coming down with gastrointestinal (sp?) problems or not. If not....😁

Nah. Still wouldn't.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 30/01/2021 22:15

If you have a jug type kettle, open the lid and pop the brush in there - it gets to 100 degrees.
Wink

Oversize · 30/01/2021 22:16

🤣🤣🤣

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:16

Ladies please.

Why do your homes need to be sterile?!

Lots of the bacteria in our environment is good. It often has a role to play in keeping other more nasty stuff in check.

We are living organisms.

It's this sort of attitude that leads to the kind of thick as shit rubbish spouted by Trump. Don't all start drinking Dettol now.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:18

Btw it's never occured to me to put the toilet brush in the dishwasher either but possibly that's because I assume the process of cleaning the lavatory together with the Harpic toilet cleaner and plenty of water to rinse should also leave the brush itself pretty dark clean!

Oysterbabe · 30/01/2021 22:19

@Carysmatthews

I put my toilet seat in the dishwasher. Not with pots, on its own. I figure it gets that hot that everything is sterilised. I then put the dishwasher on with a dishwasher cleaner.
Aswell as it being disgusting, I don't understand why you'd want to run 2 dishwasher cycles to clean something you could have easily cleaned in 5 minutes the normal way.
TheCanyon · 30/01/2021 22:20

I don't understand, my toilet brush holder is filled with a mix of bleach and flash. Cleans our bog and smells/looks good? Except some twunting dc have dropped a few bits toilet roll in the holder, I live with animals

IdblowJonSnow · 30/01/2021 22:20

I dont have a loo brush at all anymore. Bit of bleach a few times a week, loo is completely clean.

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 30/01/2021 22:21

Fuck me that's gross
And NO don’t put sharp knives in the dishwasher it was on the telly last week it blunts them
Dog toys can go in too apparently but not wooden chopping boards 🤷🏼‍♀️

Lockheart · 30/01/2021 22:21

If you all think toilet seats are unhygienic I have REALLY bad news about your phones, keyboards, make-up, remote controls, sponges and dishcloths...

Splann · 30/01/2021 22:21

Ha ha yes, boil it, that'll sterilise it! Grin

No. Just that one person.

LaMarschallin · 30/01/2021 22:24

@AliceAbsolum

Hm. I put my mooncup in the dishwasher 😅

Shouldn't you stick it up your cunt?

EffYouSeeKaye · 30/01/2021 22:25

Fuck me. When the WHO are finished in Wuhan I think they need to come here. Some of us are just animals. 🤦‍♀️

Immunity building 😂
Coffeeandcocopops · 30/01/2021 22:26

That’s why I’m not keen on using hotel kettles 🤮

I know someone who used them for heating hotdogs😂

Yep. Pure breed homo sapiens, I am. Chordata, mammalia, primate.

I've got a cracking immune system. Everyone bloody sterilising everything (bleach 5 times a week etc) pisses me off. Yeah that's right, kill all the milder strains of everything and just leave the ones the antibiotics can't touch, right. Angry

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:36

Why not?

It literally gets boiled every time you use it lol, you think there's that much bad stuff living in there? All right love. Hmm

Gncq · 30/01/2021 22:43

And as any food hygienist will tell you, many bacteria will survive a boil, then they're left to multiply with no competition from the other bacteria.

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 30/01/2021 22:46

When I was a student I worked as a chalet maid, kettles were a receptacle for all sorts. On two occasions I found faeces in them. Urine frequently. Stag and hen parties, disgusting articles.

I often wondered if the bigger chains would rinse and reuse.

Putting aside the fact that I was joking for a second: Surely if, like me, you think it’s a bad idea to sterilise and bleach everything almost daily and that our immune systems are better off without such practices, then you also think that running your toilet brush through a dishwasher is fucking gross a bit daft?

I’m not following your logic.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 23:07

I do

But amazed by other responses on here that are excessive eg thinking its disgusting to put a pet bowl in the dishwasher!
