Just saw this on a Facebook group... Confused

🤮🤮🤮

What the fuck is wrong with some people?! As a previous poster said, as if it's not bad enough putting pet bowls in the dishwasher, (or even worse, in the sink with the 'human' plates and dishes,) people also put toilet brushes in the dishwasher?! 🤮

Surely this HAS to be a huge wind-up. SURELY, no-one actually does this in real life? Confused

PolarnOPirate · 30/01/2021 21:08

So gross! On the recent dog licking plates thread, people were banging on about dishwashers sterilising dishes :-s

If that was the case, why sterilisers/milton? It would need to be a boiling cycle.

No, we were talking about it sanitising, not sterilising

Honestly it's not a wind up she is deadly serious and everyone is taking the piss out of her and she's really dying on her hill. She won't hear that it's not hygienic.

Blimey! You don't need to stick it in a dishwasher or throw it away every month. As a couple of posters have mentioned, you just spray the toilet bowl with some bleach or with whatever cleaner you want, give it a good scrub with the brush making sure you go right inside. Once you've finished hold the brush in the rim of the loo (away from the bottom) and flush away making sure you wash the brush. May take a couple of flushes. I then fill the loo holder with bleach half way and stick it in there. Always remains pristine.

Bluntness100 · 30/01/2021 21:20

Yeah that’s dirty family stuff, I’m not easily disgusted either, but this makes me feel a bit queasy, the thought of the shit particles stuck the the sides of the dishwasher Is really nauseating.

GrallaceandWomit · 30/01/2021 21:23

Putting toilet brushes in the dishwasher is utterly revolting. I don’t understand the pet dish argument from PP so you can’t put it in the dishwasher and you can’t wash it in the sink? What do you do with it then?
Throwing toilet brushes away monthly is also abhorrent to me, utterly appalling. Using bleach every single day isn’t good for the environment. And also, I have silicone toilet brushes, they don’t get manky like traditional brushes I highly recommend them.

BigPaperBag · 30/01/2021 21:24

People putting a bog brush in the dishwasher surely has to be an urban legend? 🤮 💩 I just couldn’t imagine anything more rank than that!

Greenmarmalade · 30/01/2021 21:25

Why can’t I put my pet’s bowls in the dishwasher?! Shock

I said it's gross when people put the pet bowls in with the human bowls and dishes... if you had read my post properly.

Disgusting, and very unhygienic.

And putting toilet brushes in the dishwasher is pure evil.

Toilet brushes are the work of the devil anyway. Ewwwwww. 🤮

littlepattilou · 30/01/2021 21:28

@Greenmarmalade

Because it's gross and unhygienic! 🤮
Ericaequites · 30/01/2021 21:30

I put sex toys and car dishes in the dishwasher. Before COVID, I ate in restaurants. No one knows how they wash their dishes or keep their kitchens.

LadyJaye · 30/01/2021 21:30

I have horses.

I highly recommend putting bits/stirrup irons/spurs through the dishwasher, really makes 'em shine. Grin

Crazycatstory · 30/01/2021 21:32

You know the daily fail ran a piece on this very debate (from a mumsnet thread no less) 2 years ago today, right?
The more things change, the more they stay the same....

MinnieJackson · 30/01/2021 21:48

I think John Torode cooked a whole salmon in his.

Frogartist · 30/01/2021 21:53

@Carysmatthews

I put my toilet seat in the dishwasher. Not with pots, on its own. I figure it gets that hot that everything is sterilised. I then put the dishwasher on with a dishwasher cleaner.
No, dish washers don't get hot enough to sterilise.
Coffeeandcocopops · 30/01/2021 22:00

My ILs put their ashtrays in the dishwasher. Makes me feel sick when I unload the plates, cups and ashtrays

SchrodingersImmigrant · 30/01/2021 22:02

Well theoretically you could kind of suus vide it in the dishwasher 🤔 Tempted
NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:03

Honestly people seem to not get that "faecal bacteria" are not going to that much gross that a lot of the shite lying around your kitchen?

I'm gonna put the wind up the lot of you now. I wash my toddlers nappies (yes, nappies, with traces of faecal bacteria on) in the very same machine that I run loads of my own clothes, towels, bedding & even tea towels in. Heaven forbid. (Not in the same cycle mind, I was not dragged up.)

CovidHalloween · 30/01/2021 22:06

Kitchen, bathroom, and food Hygiene and cleanliness should be taught in PSHE classes extensively. What a revolting thread.
It’s like this stupid 5 second “rule” when you drop food on the food on the floor but it’s fine to eat it if it’s been there less than 5 seconds?! 🤮 well and truly disgusting.

MrsSmith2021 · 30/01/2021 22:06

Jesus.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:07

No, dish washers don't get hot enough to sterilise.

No because the average home is not an operating theatre and you'll find little in it is sterile. Because it does not need to be.

Its perfectly adequate for things to be simply "clean" to a normal level.

notanothertakeaway · 30/01/2021 22:08

As an aside, silicone toilet brushes are the way to go. Cost approx £15, but well worth it

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 30/01/2021 22:09

The cat bowls get chucked in the dishwasher here too. No one is dead yet.

CovidHalloween · 30/01/2021 22:09

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland
Most children’s underwear have some traces of feces matter on them, it depends what temp you wash them on and how long. I always add dettol clothes detergent too. I don’t see a problem in this.
