Bras are uncomfortable

Is it me or are bras so uncomfortable?

I've spent a fortune trying to find the right bra, but alas, nothing.

Can anyone suggest any comfortable, push up bra?
Im 34 underneath, 42 on the fullest part, and 45 at 90 degrees and probably bell/East West. Every website gives me a different size, from 34FF to 30H and 38G.

Sorry if this is the wrong place I couldn't work out where to put it!!

I hear molke is great?

1Morewineplease · 29/01/2021 23:06

I wear cropped tops. Sloggi do a great 'bra'
It's not a push up but I'm not into that.

BeautifulBirds · 29/01/2021 23:11

Thanks, I'll have a look at them. It's a long standing battle. I'm wanting to reclaim my sense of self after childbirth and the boobs are the first thing that need a lift!!

I'm a 34FF and M&S has always worked for me. When we can go to shops again get properly measured. A good fitting bra is a thing of beauty!

Cryalot2 · 29/01/2021 23:18

I am a 34 jj and had psoriasis under my large boobs which bled. Dd bought me a non wired bra from bravissimo. I honestly never thought I could wear non wired. It was the best gift ever and I have bought a few more.
I find bravissimo brilliant with good fitting pretty comfortable bras .
Hope this helps

Hadjab · 29/01/2021 23:23

I wear bralets now - have done for just under two years. My boobs are now a lot perkier than they were when I wore underwired bras.linden and Le Buns do very comfortable ones

BeautifulBirds · 29/01/2021 23:24

I've spent a hundreds at bravissimo, years ago, wore them once then got rid, they were too tight and I felt almost bruised. I suppose I could make the best of lock down and try various sizes and styles at home without sales people making me feel like I have to buy.

I brought a couple of these to go under a top when go out cycling. I haven't done the cycling but wear them constantly now with a hoodie over the top. So comfy, boobs don't get shoved together and provides enough support for walking around during the day (I'm a larger size lady with bog boobs)

Hankunamatata · 29/01/2021 23:41

big boobs lol

Stompythedinosaur · 29/01/2021 23:43

I've given up wearing bras unless I have to, they are all awful.

Hankunamatata · 29/01/2021 23:44

brought couple of these too but your boobs end up squashed together like a uni boob www.decathlon.co.uk/p/women-s-gentle-gym-pilates-cotton-sports-bra/_/R-p-309915

BeautifulBirds · 29/01/2021 23:47

I would love to go braless but am conscious in work of saggy titty nipple pokes!!
I'll have a look at the other ones suggested.

I’ve been wearing bralettes ever since Lockdown 1 and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to normal bras. I bought some for my mum who was dying of cancer at the time and needed something more comfy as she was in so much pain. I started wearing them after she died (that sounds so weird! Going round in my dead mum’s bra. But there you go) and they were so so comfy.

In fact, I wore a normal bra today cos I didn’t have a clean bralette and I had to take it off at dinner time because it was digging into me.

Luckingfovely · 29/01/2021 23:55

I'm all about yoga bras now - supportive and tight but no underwires to dig in. I get that it can be hard to find the right fit - I have a very broad back and relatively small cup size, but good yoga bras seem to be comfortable at least. I accept they're not always the most flattering- can be a bit shelf like - but when I can't leave the house, I'd rather be comfortable.

Dustyboots · 30/01/2021 00:22

I haven't worn a bra for 6 years now. God it was so liberating when I stopped wearing one.

I'd never put one on again. Why are girls/women expected to wear these bloody things? They're like the modern day version of corsets.

thisgardenlife · 30/01/2021 00:35

I wouldn't wear one if I didn't absolutely have to but can't go around with them hanging loose at my size 32 H (which means I'm petite and my boobs are huge) without them getting caught on door handles and other random things as I pass (elbows, car wing mirrors, cupboard knobs etc).

Now I'm old and they have seriously drooped this has become a real problem. If I don't wear a bra of some sort I get a fungal thrush / eczema type rash where the skin rubs underneath and if I do wear a soft comfy bra they are squashed together into a shelf monoboob and I get a rash between them. If I wear any of my old underwired ones they hurt against the rashy skin and the rash never heals.

I am genuinely at a loss. I have a huge drawer full of bras I've tried over the years and even the comfy ones for large breasts don't seem to work for me any more. Cropped tops just squash me flat so the rash can't heal and my breasts are squashed against me down to my waist. :(

MillyMolly123 · 30/01/2021 00:38

I wear M&S bralettes (£9.50 each or two for £18). I’ll never wear a normal bra again.

SpanielPlusToddler · 30/01/2021 00:49

I’ve recently discovered molke bras. Took a couple of goes (free returns) to get the right size, but so comfy and uplifting.

thisgardenlife · 30/01/2021 01:23

I went to the Molke site and apparently I'm 30 HH. Which doesn't exist in M&S, etc.

The Molke Bra they suggest for me is £37.00, yikes.

They look comfy but I don't like how they are shaped to push the boobs out to each side. On me that doesn't work as they get in the way of my arms.:( I used to wear balcony bras that lifted and separated as I really don't like it when they are spread out to the side.

I might buy one for round the house and see how I get on.

BeautifulBirds · 30/01/2021 07:35

I feel your pain @thisgardenlife. I hate the way my boobs look without some kind of support and they get sore underneath. I was thinking of duct tape!!

BeautifulBirds · 30/01/2021 07:36

Sorry for your loss @rainallnight.
Ill have a look at bralettes, so many people recommend them.

One of the upsides of teaching remotely in lockdown was not having to wear a bra. When I get home, the first thing I do is remove the pesky thing. I am moderate of nork, which probably helps.

Phineyj · 30/01/2021 07:43

Before you buy Molke, be aware that they are the Marmite of bras - quite a lot of us, including me, can't get them off!

I like Sloggi Zero Feels (bralets).

Crapbuttrue · 30/01/2021 07:46

Just looked at the Sloggi Zero website. Check out the awful spelling!

Bras are uncomfortable
MiddlesexGirl · 30/01/2021 07:48

I agree that you get a different measurement wherever you look.
I disagree that bras are uncomfortable. I'm a small size but still incomparably more comfortable in a bra than not. I don't notice it's there. Unless I have an underwired one that's getting old and the wires are going out of shape.... then it's time to get a new one.
The key is getting the right size and shape/brand. Some brands just fit better than others depending on how your breasts are distributed. Which is why Debenhams going under is such a big disappointment to me 🙁
