Bras are uncomfortable

Is it me or are bras so uncomfortable?

I've spent a fortune trying to find the right bra, but alas, nothing.

Can anyone suggest any comfortable, push up bra?
Im 34 underneath, 42 on the fullest part, and 45 at 90 degrees and probably bell/East West. Every website gives me a different size, from 34FF to 30H and 38G.

Sorry if this is the wrong place I couldn't work out where to put it!!

Another vote for M&s bralettes. I couldnt find a bra that fitted after having my child 3 years ago and after trying these? I've not worn anything else. Super comfy, and quite supportive, although I'm admittedly fairly small in the boo department. Somewhere around a 36a or 34b..

LongIslandIcedT · 30/01/2021 07:54

I'm a GG and given up on wired bras. I now wear soft sports crop top type things from Primark. I now longer get back spots from the tight band and the fastener digging in.

Coldhandscoldheart · 30/01/2021 08:01

@thisgardenlife this is a problem I am having too!
Partly I have put on weight, so should probably get a 32 back instead but the straps are so narrow they dig in, but then the chest band slips and also digs in. The only thing that has helped is an enormous plaster over each bit of sore skin. I’m considering designing my own or whether it’s worth the expense of say rugby & pellet. When anyway I want to lose weight & will change shape again!
I like the look of the broad underhand of bra letters, but know they won’t give enough support.

Molke

PinkyParrot · 30/01/2021 08:23

As you get much older (late 60s) the flesh is a bit flabbier so things cut in more, also boobs seem to get heavier, so straps cut in more. And in my case you put on weight so there's more flesh to cut into.
Molke is good but mine seems a bit too tight round the chest, despite following measurement rules, but they have a phone number so you can get advice on size.

NCAnon · 30/01/2021 08:25

Have a look at the BOB (boob or bust) measuring method OP, most of us are wearing completely the wrong size which really doesn't help with comfort.

Margaritawithlime · 30/01/2021 08:32

Absolutely recommend Molke. Am a J cup so I need a bra or my knees suffer as they’re constantly being smacked by low hanging fruit. Molke are uplifting enough that I feel supported. Only downside is the very high and full back. Means anything vaguely strappy is out.

Mummysgonetobed · 30/01/2021 08:35

I’m a 34e and after my 3rd child have gone wireless as I can’t find any wired I don’t want to rip off instantly!
I also recommend M&S bralettes, so comfy!

ScrapThatThen · 30/01/2021 08:45

@Hankunamatata they look like exactly what I am after, the vests with integral bra. Any tips on the sizing? I think I will try the 2xl, I'm a 36ff.

yeOldeTrout · 30/01/2021 08:54

Those Molke bras look very unsupportive.

Would you want to chase a bus with one on?

I love a bras that suits me, problem is I don't know how to find one right now either, my favourite sort seems to be discontinued. Oh dear.

60sbird · 30/01/2021 08:58

Im usually a 34E (boob job 14 years ago) but during lockdown I seem to have grown out of my multitude of bras and was sick of them making me feel suffocated so thought I’d try bralets, I tried primary 3 for £10, I don’t think I’ll wear a bra again but might invest in Marks and Spencer bralets now

Very comfortable 34G .

I bought this one after I was fitted by Rigby and Peller with this similar balconette style of bra . I bought of of theirs at the fitting . I measured using the Boob and Bust system and the size recommended by R&P was the same .

For chilling at home the M&S ones are surprisingly supportive and very comfortable

The Molke bras are surprisingly supportive, I bought one as I'm sick of the irritation from underwires (38K) I'm on furlough at the moment so only wearing it around the house and they are very comfy! Only downside is they can be tricky to get on and off as they are a snug fit but I suppose they have to be to be supportive!

dramaqueen · 30/01/2021 09:19

@Luckingfovely

I'm all about yoga bras now - supportive and tight but no underwires to dig in. I get that it can be hard to find the right fit - I have a very broad back and relatively small cup size, but good yoga bras seem to be comfortable at least. I accept they're not always the most flattering- can be a bit shelf like - but when I can't leave the house, I'd rather be comfortable.
@luckingfovely can you recommend a yoga bra please? I too have a broad back & relatively small cup size

Yes I would chase a bus in a level 2 or 3 Molke

Hint is not to try to put it on whist still damp from shower

To be fair I wouldn’t chase a bus without my industrial strength sports bra on Grin
peak2021 · 30/01/2021 10:34

I hope the buses are OK with being chased!

OP I hope the suggestions others have made are helpful.

Hankunamatata · 30/01/2021 11:33

@ScrapThatThen I got xl when i was 14-16.

ScrapThatThen · 30/01/2021 11:35

@Hankunamatata thanks I am going to order one size up on that.

LunaHeather · 30/01/2021 11:40

@Dustyboots

I haven't worn a bra for 6 years now. God it was so liberating when I stopped wearing one.

I'd never put one on again. Why are girls/women expected to wear these bloody things? They're like the modern day version of corsets.

Same here

I know women who will say "oh I wish so and so would wear a bra". I don't even notice.

I did wear a bralet in the office but no longer have to go to offices.

This winter, I have made infinity scarves my friend. I suppose summer will be back to bralets.

LividLoving · 30/01/2021 11:51

I know that Molke are a bit marmite, but now I’ve started I can’t see me ever wearing anything else.

And I’m in the region of 34K.

Bought first while pregnant to avoid wires and now breastfeeding. Getting off and on isn’t super fun but once it’s on you’re golden.

Hankunamatata · 30/01/2021 11:53

@ScrapThatThen love them. No under arm buldge, wee removable boob bits so no nipple showing through. Just put one on now and ah bliss.

woodhill · 30/01/2021 11:55

I must admit I'm not wearing my wired bras at the moment apart from sports bras which are the next back size up and wear bralets from M&S

The bras made marks on me even though they were the correct size

Fallsballs · 30/01/2021 11:58

If you don’t mind me asking @LividLoving what size did you order from Molke ? I keep looking and getting cross eyed. I’m a similar size and would like to try them as I’m sick of my collection of overpriced painful ones.

I would love to be able to not wear a bra, but I'm so uncomfortable without one. I can't even sleep without some sort of bra top on. I'd be really uncomfortable walking around without a bra. The only time I don't have a bra on is in the shower, and even walking from the bathroom to my bedroom to get dressed drives me mad, I just hate the feel of having no support.
