AIBU to LOVE this silk shirt?

Would love some thoughts on this shirt - I’m picturing it with top few buttons undone, worn with skinny jeans and heeled ankle boots for when we can actually go out of an evening again!

YABU - No, I’d rather wear a bin bag
YANBU - It’s weird, in a good way

I’d never wear it but would admire someone who did as I’m a really boring person in terms of clothes and admire people who wear unusual clothes with confidence. Go for it!

dayswithaY · 29/01/2021 16:38

It looks like something my Dad would wear on holiday.

JaquelineBeanstalk · 29/01/2021 16:39

How easy is it to care for a silk shirt?

OldGreyBoots · 29/01/2021 16:39

I quite like it, getting Sgt Pepper vibes like PP said, but I could never pull it off Grin

Easy. Hand wash, air dry, iron while slightly damp.
waterlego · 29/01/2021 16:45

I think it’s horrible but I have no concept of style so I’m sure someone who knows what they’re doing could wear it and look great in it.

waterlego · 29/01/2021 16:46

For some reason I see Nelson Mandela wearing it.

😂

ShinyMe · 29/01/2021 16:47

I always think - and especially so these days - that what you wear should make you happy. It's not about whether other people like it or if it makes you look fat or if it's acceptable for your age or any of that nonsense. If you like something and it makes you happy to wear it, then wear it.

Someone wearing an expensive Chanel designer outfit that everyone else loves, but which they hate, will not look good.
Someone wearing something ridiculous that everyone else hates, but that they adore, will still look good, because they'll be happy.

That's my thoughts, so there. And yes, I'm 48 and wear gold glittery doc martens to the supermarket, and I don't care if people don't like it.

Labobo · 29/01/2021 16:48

I don;t like it personally but can imagine it working the way you've described and looking good on someone else. At least it's not dull.

Meowchickameowmeow · 29/01/2021 16:48

Ugly and not remotely stylish.

unfortunateevents · 29/01/2021 17:06

If I saw someone wearing that I would think either that they had owned it in the '80s and for some reason thought it would be good to resurrect it or if the person was younger that they had raided their mum's storage boxes in the attic and were wearing it as some kind of retro ironic fashion statement.

Carysmatthews · 29/01/2021 17:09

It’s absolutely hideous. It’s a style free zone.

MrsA2017 · 29/01/2021 17:47

I am loving these responses! Particularly the PP who said it’s very Lord Bath and Nelson Mandela... right up my street!

FWIW I’m 28 and a size 10... definitely not olive skinned though, more translucent 😂

The only thing putting me off is the trying-not-to-ruin-it-in-the-wash situation

I’m not a very skilled housewife

Ooh I love it - I wouldn't wear this actual garment as silk shirts are not so much my style, but I like unusual prints and I I think it's fab. If I saw you in it I'd think you were cool AF (whatever shape / skin tone you are - in fact pale and brights is very fashiony!)

Its hideous on just so many levels. I can't imagine there is anyone that would look good in that.

ChristOnAPeloton · 29/01/2021 18:05

Too early 90s Jazzy Jeff for my tastes.

ChristOnAPeloton · 29/01/2021 18:08

The green shirt is better. The first one is too shapeless and long sleeved to get the same look.

(Unless you have arms like a gorilla)

BerniesMittens · 29/01/2021 18:20

With the right accessories and worn as you describe it'll work. Providing you're not a shrinking violet! Own your style and you'll get away with it. Go for it!

BerniesMittens · 29/01/2021 18:22

Crikey that green silky top and skinnies is my look circa 1988/89, complete with dodgy perm and heels.

Hoped to have forgotten that! Shock

MargeProopsSpecs · 29/01/2021 18:33

Bloody hell wear whatever you like - your figure is fab.

Thedogscollar · 29/01/2021 18:34

Where do I beginShock
